Welcome to Rochesille
This very lovely stone house is located at only 2km from the town center of Sarlat, close to shops and services.
Amidst a 3-hectare green settings of walnut trees, chestnut forests and meadows, a park remarkably decorated with banana trees, palms and flowers, Rochessille is a large stone house offering 250 m² of habitable surface (main house for 6 people and dependence for 2/4 people). You are here only a dozen miles from the Dordogne valley and from the splendid castles of Beynac, Milandes, Fayrac, Lacoste... Rochesille is therefore a perfect starting point to countless attractions and activities offered by our region.
The Dordogne is the only French department marked to such extent by a rich prehistoric past, many castles and bastides dating back to the Middle Ages... The Romans entered in this part of Gaul occupied by the Petrocorii, a Gallic tribe the name of which is reflected in the name of Périgord. There are still some Roman relics in Périgueux.
Périgord has preserved its exceptional natural setting. It bears gentle valleys, rivers, and diverse landscapes ... This region owes much f the quality of its landscapes and colors to its dense river network: it is indeed crossed from north to south by the Bandiat, Dronne, Isle, Auvézère, Dordogne, Vezere and Dropt. Only the Dordogne and Isle (at least until Périgueux) are navigable.
The Dordogne enjoys a maritime highly tempered climate. Its Terroir is among the most generous: truffles, mushrooms, foie gras, confit, pâté, charcuterie, cepes, and other delicatessen. Its inhabitants have maintained for centuries a culinary tradition, aromas and flavors that you will find on the beautiful Sarlat market. Sarlat, capital of the Périgord Noir, is the European city with the largest number of listed buildings per square kilometer.
