Our apartment is in an elegant late 1800's apartment in the main luxury hotel district in the centre of Florence. It boasts large windows, high ceilings and a large terrace with plenty of room for eating al fresco. It is on the second floor wide and gradual staircase (no lift at present) and has three double bedrooms, one further double with a bed on high platform and three bathrooms and sleeps 6-8 comfortably. Many shops, restaurants and local ammeniities are available within minutes of the apartment.
I am in my forties, English, brought up in South Yorkshire, I studied languages and business studies at the University of Swansea and then law at the college of Law London Store Street and Sheffield University. I worked for ten years in the UK and Italy in a patent office as a Trade Mark agent. I moved to Italy in 1996 when I got married to my Tuscan husband, the present house we bought on the birth of our second child we throughly modernised it and changed the location of the kitchen. We are renting it now as we have moved to Shanghai for my husband's job, but are not ready to sell it as we intend to return someday. We now have three children, two girls and a boy.
My interests are reading, cooking, travelling and design.
CHERIE BURLAMACCHI purchased this apartment in 2001
We chose this property for its quiet yet central location and because it spoke to us. It needed a lot of work but it had good bones, a vaulted ceiling, a fireplace, big windows, large rooms and a pretty and well positioned terrace.
I knew it was right instantly as there was a magnificent wisteria in full bloom growing up from the garden below when we viewed the flat.
The apartment offers space, light, elegant proportions and the chance to sit outside most of the year drinking, eating and relaxing with friends.
We were two families of four so a total of 8 people. Throughout the booking and communication process, the owner was very professional and answered all of my questions with grace.
When we got to the apartment, Kate was very helpful. She spent the time to get us comfortable with the apartment. The apartment is super charming. The beds, the space, the decor are all great. It's a large apartment too so we were able to spread out with no issues.
The apartment isn't in the heart of the touristy area so to me that's a great thing. However I know some people like to be in the middle of it all. The walk is about 10 mins to the heart area.
The apartment is pretty near the train station so if you are going in and out of florence, It's super easy and convenient.
I cannot recommend this apartment enough! I love the charm of this old but beautiful apartment.
Beautiful large flat with everything you can want for a stay in Florence. Impeccably clean and tidy and lots of helpful information about the flat and about Florence. Ideal for a family and walking distance to all the main tourist sites.
We found Cherie very easy to deal with and particularly attentive to a minor issue of a personal nature that we had. Her friend Kate met us with a very thorough explanation of how things work, like turning on gas, plugs, internet, locks, washer, DRYER (unheard of usually). We had questions and she was always quick to respond. A great representative and friend. We were there for two weeks and Angela came in and cleaned midway. She is thorough and efficient and there was no charge for that, as Cherie wants to maintain the quality of care that her home receives.
That said, this apartment was FABULOUS. Just the right combination of old world that we were looking for and modern conveniences. ( We all now own frothers for cappuccino.) This apartment has large comfortable rooms, a wonderful patio, comfortable beds and furniture. Lots of hangers. Loads of towels.
The neighborhood was fun. A little bakery around the corner wraps your pastries like a present in paper and ribbons. Several good restaurants , a small market, and a scooter rental are within three blocks, It is a ten minute walk to the trains and also to the center of town. This is a very walkable area. The only drawback is that there is no elevator. There are several flights, but after a couple of days of walking, these were of little consequence. This was my favorite of all the five places we stayed in Italy.
This was an excellent property right in the heart of Florence. The area was safe and quiet. The apartment was clean, the beds were comfortable and everything in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry easy to use. We had breakfast and cocktails on the outdoor patio. We were able to walk everywhere and when footsore, we were able to grab a cab. We walked from the apartment to the train station with our luggage and it is an easy walk. Excellent restaurants were also within walking distance. Truthfully, the manager was so friendly and helpful that I felt as if we were visiting my family's home. Thank you for a wonderful stay in a beautiful and comfortable home.
This is an INCREDIBLY late review and I am embarrassed. Better late than never!
We stayed in this gorgeous home for 3 weeks in Nov 2015 and we cherish our memories. We took a 4 month trip around Europe, and our stay in Florence was our favorite, mainly because of the location of this home and also because of how gorgeous the place is. Our kids who were 3 and 1 years old at the time loved it as well. Our son took his first steps here!
My in laws also stayed with us for a week during our stay here, and there was plenty of room to stay out of each other's hair. Lots of room for privacy.
We were very sad to leave. Hoping one day we will return, and if we do, hoping we could stay here once again!
The flat is perfectly located for exploring Florence and the proximity to the train station is a plus. We had plenty of room for our group of 8 and particularly enjoyed evenings on the terrace. The owner and caretaker were a pleasure to deal with and all went smoothly. I would recommend this property highly! Also, we would recommend La Maremma for dinner.
THE APARTMENT IS AN A PARTICULARLY CONVENIENT LOCATION CLOSE TO ALL THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS AND IN THE VERY HEART OF FLORENCE. IT IS CLOSE TO BORGO OGNISSANTI IN AN AREA OF ELEGANT BUILDINGS FROM THE 17 AND 18 HUNDREDS. IT IS CLOSE TO THE VESPUCCI BRIDGE, AND PONTE VECCHIO IS A SHORT WALK ALONG THE RIVER, THE DUOMO IS ABOUT 20 MINS AWAY ON FOOT. THERE ARE MANY SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA, MANY ONLY A FIVE MINUTE WALK AWAY. I PARTICULARLY LIKE THE TRATTORIA ARMADO IN BORGO OGNISSANTI AND A TRIP TO THE OFFICINA PROFUMO SANTA MARIA NOVELLA IN NEARBY VIA DELLA SCALA. SEE MY REVIEWS.
Please note Florence is in Tuscany not Lombardia as written on this site by home away.
