I'm a 'native' of Hobart and love that little town. This home is centrally located to everything. The home was very clean and Steve was very welcoming. The bedrooms are very small - but there is a big walk-in closet to store your suitcases. (Who is there to hang out in your bedroom anyway?!) The upstairs bathroom is very roomy. The town playground is right across the street from the home and would be great if anyone has kids. The Catskill Scenic Trail is just a couple houses away, so this home would be a perfect starting point to go in either direction on the trail.
Overall worth the money spent
Quiet country setting. Good location, we walked a very short distance for some great local food. Great scenery. The house was tidy and shows its age. Wifi did not work. Low to no cell service. Air conditioning is only upstairs not down. Two of the upstairs bedrooms were very small. The water pressure in the shower was very poor. Overall we had a great time on our stay.
I had a technician from Time Warner Cable out to fix the WiFi. Cell service is what it is. ATT&T works better than Verizon here....the price you pay for living in the country. The shower head was a "water-saver" style. I thought it was a good for the environment and all that, but I replaced it anyway. Thanks for your feedback.
Adequate lodging but strange location
The house, while a bit dated, was adequate for a short stay. What was very odd was the fact that there is a cemetery in the backyard. I didn't see that in any of the photos when I booked the house. It would have been good to know that before I booked. While I'm not someone who is easily spooked, it is a bit unsettling to have that steps from the house. It should be advertised that way.
What an idiot. Afraid of the
"boogeyman".... DEFINITELY deserve several down arrows. Obviously, my "dated" home is not adequate for the discerning' N.Y.City visitor..... so sorryy
GREAT PLACE IN THE CATSKILLS!!!
We found this place on whim for a ski trip to multiple mountains in the Catskills. The owners, Steve and Lisa, are great to deal with. They respond to emails VERY quickly and are very accomodating. The house was perfect for our family of 6. Nice fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, great family room with fireplace, ample bedrooms with comfy beds, and a mud room for our ski gear. Parking was good too. The price can't be beat. If you are a history buff, there is a small old pre-Civil War cemetery to the rear of the house with graves from the early 1800's. Very cool. Easy to get to this house, quiet neighborhood, and well-heated. PERFECT for a weekend exploring the area!
Place was fine. And owners were very accommodating
A cozy country home in a quiet little village
Lovely and peaceful, just a few yards from the Catskill Scenic Trail (formerly a railroad). A comfortable home with nice views of the surrounding hills from the front deck. The playground across the street is very convenient if you have kids but was not noisy at all. Be sure to stop by the owners' shop, Second Wind, located on Rt. 10 nearby. Inside you'll find some fine and charming antiques at very reasonable prices.
Don't forget the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown !
