Pretty good, nice house

  • 4 of 5

The house itself is great - nice layout for hanging out, good porch furniture, and we loved the downstairs room. Great noise separation!

The location is awesome! Right off the highway. 10 minutes to a really nice Kroger (which has cheap ethanol free gas). 1 minute to a gas station with ethanol free gas. 3 minute boat ride to the marina. Would be nice if there was a Kroger card for use in the kitchen - we left one of the ones we signed up for. The road the house is on is quiet, has no sidewalks, and shaded. It would be great for running or walking - it's about 3/4 mile to the end of the road with a few little side streets. I walked the dog every morning the whole way and only saw two cars driving.

The kitchen was decent - plenty of pots, pans, dinnerware, and utensils. It is not fully stocked, but that's fine - just make sure you pick up anything necessary for a meal you're planning at the store. There's a coffee maker with a metal filter that worked fine, and the auto-brew worked. There are also two large griddles which are good for bacon and pancakes for many people.

The dock has nice deep water, but the covered area is not available for use due to a pontoon boat lift that doesn't look completely functional. The dock could use a little love - one cleat was missing, the rest of the cleats were very close to the edge, and the bumper rubber was coming off. Almost two feet of the dock was out of water so our short boat was basically going under the dock. The ladder is just tied on and was fairly slippery, but at least there was a ladder! The lake floor here is sandy with some rocks. There was no beach, and the sea wall was falling apart in places. Lots of steps (91!) down to the dock, but it wasn't as bad as some of the other houses on the lake.

The beds were pretty good but two of them sagged in the middle. Plenty of sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels. Washer/dryer/dishwasher were fine. I think the hot setting on the washer is broken because it never started on "hot".

The charcoal grill was full of ash when we got there and there wasn't a scoop or anything to clean it out with. We scooped it into a trash bag with some cardboard.

There were LOTS of bugs and the porch is not screened in. With the fans on and some candles going, it was okay. We used bug spray but you can't spray babies and dogs.

The view of sunrise is really nice but there's a big tree branch in the way of the lake from the porch.

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Lyn a great place and very clean with wonderful views perfect for a quiet "away from it all "vacation, you do need to be reasonably fit for the climb up and down to the dock which did not bother us at all in fact a nice change from the Florida flat lands where we live!!

Just a little disappointed the we were told there were two kayaks to use but we were unable find

This was a great place to stay. It was roomy and well laid out. Great place for a workout, climbing the stairs from the dock. We had a small party for our granddaughter's graduation and there was plenty of room. We would highly recommend this property.

Thanksgiving family reunion

  • 5 of 5

My family members selected this VRBO as a central location for our Thanksgiving reunion. The living area was large and spacious with plenty of room for food prep and dining. The bedrooms each had their own bath, and we especially liked how the bedrooms were separated from each other. The view of the lake was lovely though it was somewhat cold to hang out on the deck. Other than relaxing in this lovely home, we did some bowling at the local bowling center, strolled on the Oconee River Walkway, and hiked at the Rock Hawk park area. I recommend this lovely vacation home for anyone that needs a break from the rat race of everyday living!
