Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time in NOLA! The apartment was perfect for us – so close to Bourbon and Decatur Streets but far enough away that it was quiet at night. Robert was wonderful the first day – meeting us at the door to the building, storing our luggage for us until the apartment was ready (our flight was an early one) and guiding us to local restaurants that were good.

The info binder you leave in the apartment is full of great info, and we used it often to decide on tours or things we wanted to visit. We even used it to call a cab to pick us up early in the morning the day we left for the airport to come home. We also made use of the different brochures provided, and added a few of our own of things and tours that we enjoyed while we were there.

Thanks again for making our visit enjoyable. It's fun to see the look on our friends' faces when we tell them that we stayed on the third floor of building that was built in the early 1800s. Not many can say that!

Great Spot in New Orleans

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this unit in New Orleans. It is a perfect location--2 blocks off of Bourbon, yet quiet in the evenings. We stayed over Halloween weekend, and know how crazy it was in town. Yet, we always felt safe returning to our apartment, and it was peaceful. The bed was comfortable and lots of towels were provided for our stay. The kitchen was very tiny and basic, but we didn't come to New Orleans to cook in! We loved the extra touch of fresh coffee and an ample supply of beads for decorating our outfits!!! Air conditioning worked great, and was so appreciated during the 85 degree weather. Robert and George were both very nice to deal with.

Great Place to stay in the Quarter

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is in a great location, has all of the amenities we needed. The Quarter grocery store is literally right outside the front door, open long hours and very friendly family-owned place. Robert, the caretaker, was very good and always available for any info. It is very quiet; you can’t hear the din of Bourbon Street, although you can walk there in 3 minutes, and just about anywhere else in the quarter in 20 minutes..

The only improvement needed is the bed needs replacing - mattress is soft and sags in the middle.

All in all, it was a great place to stay and we would return!

Other than an ancient bed/mattress and really old semi-functioning air conditioner, it was nice.

  • 4 of 5

On the outskirts of the quarter. Thought that might keep noise down a bit, but not really. The places we hung out at were in walking distance, so very convenient. Cute character, very clean. Our two complaints were that the bed was not comfortable and was super noisy with any movement, and the A/C was very loud and didn't really keep things all that cool. Fortunately it was February and we mostly used it for white noise.

It was definitely very reasonably priced. Don't know if we would stay again unless they replace the bed and window a/c, but we had a great time!

Owner's Response: This review has us scratching our heads. The guest complained about the air conditioning not working well.... in February, when the evening temperatures on Feb 12, 13, and 14th, were 55, 48, and 48 degrees. Get a grip, folks, air conditioning doesn't work at temperatures like that....As for the noise. Really? It's one of the quietest apartments in the French Quarter. Perhaps they didn't think to close the door to the living room, which is on the street. The bedroom is on the courtyard side of the building and doesn't really get street noise, unless you leave the bedroom door open. And the mattress is not ancient, so we are a little lost about this comment....

We really enjoyed our stay in the tree top. Had a great time at mardi gras. Location was purfect.

  • 4 of 5

Tree top is a historic building, so not all up to date and new as some would want to stay in. The shower and coffee pot little tricky, but worked. The store accoss the street was very handy. We would definitely come back and stay again.

Convenient French Quarter digs

  • 4 of 5

This was my first experience with HomeAway and Historic Rentals. A one bedroom apartment in the northeast corner of the Quarter. It was convenient to everywhere in the Quarter, about a 10 minute walk to the other ends, two blocks off of Bourbon St., close to restaurants and with a corner grocery store across the street. The Apartment itself (a third floor walkup) had all the amenities of a hotel ( towels, linen, toiletries, WIFI etc) provided plus a living room and kitchen. Though I did not cook this trip,I did make use of full sized refrigerator and the coffee maker (which was supplied with coffee and filters). All for about 1/3 less than a good hotel would have cost at the time I went. Since seasonal rates change for both the hotels and the apt your savings might be different. I found the place quiet, not sure if there were guests in any of the other units, I didn't see or hear them. I would definitely stay here again without looking at other options as long as I got a similar rate.

We loved the place!

  • 5 of 5

The place has an amazing location. Walk to anything within the French quarter yet this place is very quiet. Bed is comfortable, the place is clean and updated where needed yet full of character.

I would recommend this unit to any couple for a great stay in New Orleans. Communications were great and timely. Robert was very accommodating in many ways and made us feel welcome. We needed baggage storage which he made happen.

Be prepared to climb three flights of stairs but so worth it.
