Both born and bred in The Bahamas, we are a fun loving couple who enjoy travelling the world with our three beautiful daughters. Casa Al Mare was a five year project erected in honor of our children. We all love to retreat to this luxurious estate. Its our getaway from the stress of real life and the rest of the world!
Jasmin Rodgers purchased this estate in 2008
We purchased this property because we wanted to retreat to the quieter side of The Island, well known for its beautiful beaches and relaxing sea breeze. We personally designed every aspect of the house, using luxury furnishings found on our many travels abroad. The large estate sized property was the perfect fit for our desired home, plus the pool, cabana and grass courts !
Casa Al Mare provides such a comfortable and luxurious stay that you will forget the small concerns of daily life during the drive up! Nestling into any of the suites is a plush, comforting end to any day. 'Out of the bustle, into our hideaway' is what we always say.
At Casa Al Mare, it's about relaxing, fun in the sun, and enjoying yourself with the finer things in life! We hope to share this joy with you.
The size of our property allows enjoyment and entertainment for all, while also allowing everyone to have their own space to retreat quietly if necessary. The suites are all fully furnished to make every room a coveted one. Whether you prefer volleyball, swimming, grilling or reading, it can all be done here!
Casa Al Mare is simply beautiful. If you're wondering whether the photos use a wide-angle lense or something to make the house and property appear bigger, it's just the opposite. The house and property were even more spacious and elegant than the pictures. I felt like I was in the lobby of a 5-star boutique hotel while sitting in the living room. The property management team were friendly, prompt and efficient. The pool and hot tub were wonderful, though the heater in the hot tub wasn't working while we were there (not that we wanted to sit in a hot tub when it's 90 outside). This is definitely a place for a luxurious retreat. All the bedrooms were beautiful, with their own baths and TVs. It's an easy 20-30 minute drive from the airport, and 5 miles from downtown Nassau and Paradise Island. There's a full-service super market 1 mile away. Couldn't have a better set up. The beach out front is not ideal for swimming - a bit rocky and the water tends to be choppy with wind, but there's a nice sandy beach 1/2 mile away, if you really want beach.
We spent a week at Casa Al Mare with family. The home is beautiful and we were informed of the recent repairs which we were concerned about when we read the July 12 review. The mechanical repairs had been completed. As for cleanliness - the house was very clean. Every home has wear and tear on it and this home is no different - but the place was homey and comfortable.
We spent most of our time outside near the pool and under the portico. The gas grill served us well and we had dinner each evening on the portico. The pool area is wonderful. The kitchens inside and out got lots of use by our group. We were able to snorkel off the gazebo area and saw many fish there.
We enjoyed being away from the crowded beaches and hotel area in our private paradise. Suzanne, the property manager could not have been more helpful. Fortunately, we only had to call her to find out if there was a hair dryer in the home (no).
Grocery stores are about 10 minutes away on Prince Charles Highway - use the Super Value store in Seagrape plaza. Solomons at the corner of PCH and East Highway is the Walmart of the Bahamas.
We LOVED our stay at Casa al Mare in New Providence, Bahamas.
Earnestine met us at the house and explained how everything operated She was very helpful and friendly. We needed to call her a couple of times and she took care of our needs immediately. Her pleasant, friendly personality was much appreciated.
The pictures do not do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful. The house is outstanding and the view is magnificent. The rooms are huge and tastefully decorated. It was also very clean. Probably unlike most guests we cooked all of our meals in. The refrigerator, ovens, etc were fairly new. However, the pots and pans NEED to be replaced. They were very worn and the teflon lining of the pans was all scraped and worn off. The butcher knives were not sharp. There were no steak knives. One or two faucets in the tubs were missing and some of the Jacuzzi tubs did not work properly.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the pool. Snorkeling right off the property was a thrill. As warned the neighbor's dog came to visit often. He was very friendly. However, if you find you are missing anything left in the pool area ( such as water shoes or ice pack ) , the dog has taken it.
It wouldn't take much to make this a 5++ property.
Overall we all ( 11 guests, 4 children and 7 adults ) had a marvelous ,fun, relaxing time. It was a great way to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with family. Carol & Family from Massachusetts
From reading the last review it seems like all the problems that we had and addressed in June have not been taken care of! The home is beautiful but has not been taken care of. The 1st day black smoke was coming out of the generator. We were told to turn off some of the ac's. The ice maker did not work-a part was on order. The dishwasher smelled so bad, it made me sick to open it let alone wash the dishes. The kitchen cabinets were dirty inside and were a mess. We couldn't find measuring cups, bowls etc. The pots and pans were the quality of garage sale. 2 of the showers did not work. 1 leaked so bad the room below had plaster falling from the ceiling. The other shower did not have any pressure. So 10 of us used the master bath room shower. There was only 1 bath towel in each bathroom. There was a comment back in March about the leaking shower so obviously the problem was never fixed. There were so many bugs in the outdoor bathroom, we never used it. None of the umbrellas worked and some of the patio furniture was broken. But....the pool was wonderful, except for the spa not working which we knew ahead of time. I think it just needs a part to heat the water. I don't think that will ever happen.
One of the best things was the dog from next door. He was very gentle and loved playing with the kids. It couldn't have been Tricky that went on the cushions because he wouldn't get up on the couch when we were there. I left a note on the bulletin board about him but it must have been taken down. If you ignore him, he will go away. He is an island dog and is free to wander the island. He is very gentle and we loved him coming to visit. If you don't want him around he will leave if ignored.
I also agree the house needs to be deep cleaned. No wonder we had a few friends scamper across the floor. We were told that was because the people before us left the doors open. Ok. ? Everyday something went wrong and we had to call the manager. She would come immediately but some things could not be fixed. There were also wires hanging from the ceilings and plaster peeling from leaks. The home is beautiful and the pool was wonderful but it needs so much work that I don't think will ever get done.
Mr. Jasmine did come over the night before we were leaving....water was pouring out of a vent in the ceiling! He apologized for all the problems we had. Obviously, he wasn't too sorry if 2 months later nothing has changed.
The home is very big and has an awesome view of the ocean and the pool is amazing. The house needs to be DEEP CLEANED and have some much needed maintenance done. There is a temporary pool pump that actually shorted out and sparked luckily they got that fixed so that we could continue to use the pool and even more important no one was right by the electrically cord when it sparked and snapped. The pool deck was covered in bird poop and I mean hundreds of piles- I spent the first morning of vacation with a mop and bucket cleaning off the pool deck it took almost two hours- Someone was supposed to bring a hose but that never happened. The A/C was not on when we got there so it took 2 days for the whole house to cool off and three calls about that. The dryer didn't work so 10 people for one week including two toddlers not being able to do laundry was quite the challenge. The dishwasher was in terrible working order so meals and dishes were also a challenge. We had to re-clean three of the bathrooms and one of the showers didn't work. The maintenance people and especially Suzanne were extremely helpful but having to call and have people at the house the first three days was not what I imagined. The ocean access that is talked about in the advertising is really dangerous and with the rough water and rocks made that impossible. There are no pool or ocean toys as depicted either. The outside bar is full of ants and the gas grill seemed to have a leak so we didn't use it after the 1st attempt. There was no outside electric the first few days so swimming at night was not an option. The Dog from next door seemed to like to visit and evidentially used the bathroom on the outside couch cushions so they had to be removed. The neighbor next door was friendly and would get the dog off the property when called but again we had to call. With two little grandchildren having a strange dog roaming around was quite unsettling. The recommended restaurants and the Blue Lagoon were fabulous and were $100 cab ride round trip-the house is much more desolate that depicted and parking and driving is not easy. We had a chef cook for us two nights and that was great. We had a nice vacation but the house just wasn't what we imagined and if it would have been cleaner, A/C turned on in advance, a working dryer, dishwasher, outside electric, a clean pool deck, and no stray dog visiting it would have been amazing.
beautiful home, beautiful spot, everything the pictures show and more. Even though the house has 5 bedrooms we were 3 couples and I can't think of a better vacation I've had. Welcomed by the property management staff and introduced to all aspects of the property which is more like a private resort than a rental. I have vacationed in many parts of the world but if you are looking for a relaxing warm weather beach spot in a magnificent home this is it. Of course not everything is perfect when you travel but I couldn't come up with a complaint worth writing about. On a scale from one to 10 this is a 10.
