About The Owner

Hi! Kristoffer and Dan here and we want to welcome you. Dan works in Marketing and Kristoffer is an actor on Broadway and television. Having lived in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and abroad, we have traveled to many countries and love meeting new people. We have always enjoyed the experience of staying in a home or apartment versus a hotel when we travel because of the ability to experience a city more fully. We have always stayed in beautiful apartments or homes with luxurious amenities and felt it was important to offer the same to those travelers who came to stay with us. We love to experience restaurants, bars, museums and everything a city has to offer and have many many wonderful suggestions for you when you come to stay!

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2011

Why The Owner chose San Francisco

We chose to buy this property because of its central location and ease of getting just about anywhere you want to go in the city in minutes. The beauty of the neighborhood and homes that surround was also a selling point to us. We love San Francisco and the fact that in 10 minutes you can be at the beach, waterfront, luxury shopping, a concert, running in Golden Gate Park or relaxing in a sidewalk cafe in any of the cities thriving and vibrant neighborhoods. Napa, Sonoma and wine country are just an hour drive away and you can be skiing the slopes near Tahoe all day long and back home in time for dinner!

What makes this apartment unique

This apartment is quite special in that it is extremely private and lush in its surroundings. The garden and gazebo, private hot tub and top notch amenities keep it in a class all its own. Walking to Cafe Flore on Market Street for a morning coffee and pastry or relaxing by the fire table with a glass of wine at night before slipping into the hot tub for a soak are just a few of the amazing things at your disposal when you stay Beyond The Palm.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“The accommodation was just perfect, it is in an ideal location within the city which allows you to feel part of the city but be able to escape at the same time. The accommodation is spacious and very clean, there was two of us but even if four people shared the space it would be more than big enough. We chatted to Dan on our arrival who kindly showed us around and showed us how everything worked. Everything was perfect and you can tell the the hosts see this as an extension of there own home. The outdoor space is a massive bonus and the perfect place after a day of site-seeing, the outdoor tub is brilliant and the fire pit is the perfect place to drink a few glasses of wine. The home is located in a great area with some amazing restaurants and bars, the welcome manual is full of information. The home is only a five minute walk from the tram line which only costs $2.25 to get all the way into the city. If you are looking for a spacious, clean, immaculate property with the bonus of the outside space then look no further than this property. when we return to the city we will not stay anywhere else. Dont look elsewhere this is the place to stay in San Fran. ”

We were very impressed by the interior/exterior.

We had a great experience. The hosts were lovely and very helpful. They have a detailed binder giving you info about the property and also the area. The kitchen was stocked with coffee, pots and pans, stove, fridge and best of all a washer/dryer. When we head back into SF we for sure will see if this property is available and we were more than pleased with our stay.

Unforgettable and remarkable stay in the heart of the city

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Beyond the Palm in May 2016 for 4 nights as a family of 3 adults and 2 toddlers. The location was perfect for us as this was my first visit to SF City and I wanted to be close enough to the tourist areas and stay in a safe neighbourhood for my kids' sake. There was a good playground within walking distance next to Mollie Stone's supermarket. We were relieved that there was free parking around the corner (we only had to move the car once on Wednesday 12pm for a couple of hours for street cleaning). We actually didn't need the car in the city itself but it was convenient to have for the visit to Golden Gate park and bridge and the short scenic drive along the west coast.

We live in Hong Kong city in a good sized apartment but still not considered very large. For most people that live in large houses, a mental shift of your expectation is required to adjust to staying in a city flat. For us, this was an adequate sized apartment for our family with a spacious living room, compact bathroom/shower and well equipped kitchen. The added bonus was definitely the gorgeous garden and so was the amazing hot tub to soak away the tired muscles from the day's travels. The master bed was large and super comfortable and the queen sized sofa bed was extra convenient. Everything was clean and well maintained. We didn't want to stay in an overpriced hotel and needed the kitchen facilities which was sufficient for making the kids meals, breakfast and lunch (it is not a large kitchen with a small fridge so you might not want to cook a gourmet meal there!). The washer and dryer were a definite plus. I was looking for a hair dryer (maybe it was well hidden) but everything else was available to make our perfect stay.

Dan and Kristoffer are fabulous hosts and respond quickly to emails and checked in once during our stay to see if we needed anything which was a nice touch. We loved their recommendations for places to eat and things to do and see. We lucked out in booking this place more than half a year in advance and we would definitely stay there again.

Thank you again Dan and Kristoffer for the privilege of staying in your beautiful home.

Loved It!!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at Beyond the Palm twice, and both times have been great. First, the location provides easy access to San Francisco's popular neighborhoods - pick-up public trans across the street or walk a couple of blocks to the Castro to catch the subway. Second, the Palm is comfortably nestled away from the street with French doors that lead to a lovely garden, patio, with a hot tub. I enjoyed morning coffee and a good book or walked a block or two for pastry. The property is so comfortable, clean, quiet and cozy; yet it has separate areas for my mom, sister and I to spread out at the end of the day. At the end of a day, returning to Beyond the Palm proved the best place to relax. Dan and Kristoffer are sweet, and they respect your privacy. Appliances functioned well, but the washer and dryer were a plus. I will always plan to stay there when I visit SF, and I recommend you stay there if travelling to San Francisco.

Perfect spot for a family of 4

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful property for visiting San Francisco! My husbands and I , our 16 year-old, & her best friend stayed for 8 nights. We flew in from Georgia and in 25 minutes arrived at a beautiful garden paradise! The yard of the apartment is like a mini botanical garden and the house is set back and off the street. There was no need to rent a car the apartment is close to public transportation. We toured the city all day and returned to relaxing evenings at this quite oasis. Most nights we had food delivered from wonderful area reasturants by uber eats. The kitchen is small but is equipped with all the essentials for meal prep. The full size washer and dryer were a huge plus! The girls went to get coffee every morning at local Castro bistros, enjoying some indepenance in this safe wonderful area of the city. Dan and Kristoffer provided excellent customer service and were gracious hosts! Thanks for the hospitality!

New York City

Close to Castro

  • 2 of 5

This apartment is behind a beautifully manicured garden entrance. It is large and newly renovated. Being on the front part of the lower level it has no windows other than the French door entry which makes it a bit cave-like. The kitchen is very small with a half size refrigerator so it is not usable beyond making coffee. Whatever utensils you use must be hand washed but there's not even enough room to do that. The bedroom has a king size bed but there's almost no room there beyond that. No place even to put your clothes when you take them off. The bedding, and the pillows could certainly use replacing.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry to hear that your stay was not what you had hoped, however your review seems to be very misleading and somewhat unfair. You can see from the photographs of the house that there are not only large double french doors that lead into the living room area of the apartment...but there is a large bedroom window that provides light to the bedroom, as well, making the apartment very bright and cheerful. While the Kitchen is small and does not offer a dishwasher...there is a full sized washer and dryer, sink, stove with oven as well as a blender, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, spices and basic cooking necessities. All of the bed linens are rotated and cleaned between each guests use and there is a full sized closet with hangers and a dresser for guests to unpack. We had hoped the impeccable decor and appointment of the apartment and ameneties as well as its location and our arranging for your early check in and friendly suggestions on restaurants and places in the neighborhood would have been more positively experienced and reviewed by you. We pride ourselves on making sure our guests have the best time during their vacations and stays with us as can clearly be seen by our numerous other positive reviews.

Quiet neighborhood garden hideaway

  • 5 of 5

For once the term "garden level" perfectly describes this apartment. The outdoors is lovely, as you walk through the long garden past the hot tub to the outdoor seating area, and then your french doors looking out onto the scene. Spacious big room with tables, couches, and TV. Separate bedroom with closet and comfortable king bed. Bathroom is very nice with tiled shower. Tiny kitchen is shared with the washer/dryer but includes small refrig, pots and pans, toaster, and utensils. The Mr. Coffee seemed to make outstanding coffee. Extremely quiet and away from the motorcycles on Market and the bustle of Castro St.

It's just a few blocks walk from Castro Station with access to the underground MUNI rail. Above ground the historic streetcars turn here and head back down Market to the Ferry building and all the way to Fisherman's Wharf. Take the 33 trolley coach over Twin Peaks to the Haight and the park. The 45 goes to the top of the Fillmore shopping street and Pacific Heights. We were delighted to have such a comfy place and enjoy exploring a new neighborhood, plus being close to the beautiful Castro Theatre. Hosts are very accommodating if you need anything.
