About Wendy Sherrill

Our cabin has been in the family for more than 45 years, purchased as a vacation property by our father, Charles B. Sherrill, Sr. The property consists of almost 400 acres of land with this cabin sitting on the 150 acre parcel. Our property is now owned by the children of CB Sherrill who grew up visiting and enjoying all that the Pleasant Valley has to offer. This has always been, and continues to be a favorite place to vacation or enjoy a relaxing weekend with our families. Since we now stay in the cabin that sits on the highway we decided to rent the back cabin for those that wanted to enjoy the area in a home-like setting.

Why Wendy Sherrill chose Arizona

Imagine sitting on the porch, enjoying a cup of coffee and listening to the wind whisper through the tall pines of the high desert, watching the elk as they wander back into the surrounding forest during the early morning hours or enjoying a quiet evening watching the sun set on Potato Butte. These are just a few of the things we love about our cabin and the area surrounding it.

What makes this cabin unique

There is plenty of hiking in the mountains surrounding the area and ATV trails into the canyons. Enjoy the fresh air and quiet relaxing atmosphere that the Pleasant Valley has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This was our second time here and was far better than our first time, and we were impressed the first time! We couldn't have expected anything more! The little extras, Christmas presents and decorations were over-the-top!! We were kept informed of the snowy weather coming and brought items we may need in case of power outage. We enjoyed ourselves very much and look forward to future stays.

Excellent getaway for people with pets!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for five days in October 2016 and we had the best time. The cabin is fully loaded with everything you need to be comfortable. And out dogs loved playing in the fenced yard and taking hikes on the trails right there on the property. The owners could not be nicer or more accommodating. Young is beautiful and quiet with lots of good hiking trails. If you want some peace-and=-quiet in a beautiful setting and a friendly place for your dogs, this is the place. Just a short 3 hour drive from the Valley!

Our stay was great as usual. This is our third year spending the 4th of July weekend here. It's a great relaxing time to get away from the hustle of the city. We enjoy the long walks around the property. Antlers down the street is a great restaurant with friendly service and tasty meals. We loved how the cabins furniture was rearranged and the addition of wifi this year. Even through we love to get away we love to still stay somewhat connected.

Wonderful getaway - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • 5 of 5

The property of this cabin is very private and feels secluded. It's a beautiful wintertime setting although it was a bit challenging to drive from Phoenix as the snow was accumulating. 4WD is a must if it snows.

If you want a quiet, comfortable, secluded getaway, this is it! The kitchen and bathroom have been renovated and are modern while the cabin has an overall feel of rustic, historic charm. The gas fireplace on one end and stone wood burning fireplace on the other end of the cabin kept us toasty warm. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The queen bed was comfortable. There was a TV/VCR combo (couldn't get reception but that was fine by us) and a decent video library as well as book library. Bring games and enjoy life without internet - my Verizon phone had no internet service but good phone and texting connections in the cabin. Bring everything you need because there's no grocery store, although there is a small convenient store and gas station in town. There is a good restaurant but it has limited hours. We enjoyed cooking and grilling meals at the cabin.

It was a wonderfully relaxing 3-day getaway location with my significant other and dachshund. Many, many thanks to the property manager for her assistance in helping us navigate the winter driving conditions on day of arrival and accommodating us when the pipes froze for a short while. (We learned to let the water trickle from the faucet at night.) It was so comforting to know we had a good contact in this remote area in case we needed assistance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Excellent Rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The cottage is very private and is far enough off the road that you have a sense of seclusion. The inside was very well stocked and clean. The forest is at the back door and there is a graded road that makes for a 1.4 mi. loop through the woods, that we and the dogs enjoyed daily. We will trying to book again in the spring.
