Jim and Kathie area farmers in SW Iowa and operate Buck Run Lodge on their property. They are artists that have used their'artistic eye' to build, decorate and landscape this property. They always think 'Would I want to stay here?' YES
We chose this property to build Buck Run Lodge on because of the 12 acre pond and the oak grove.A perfect setting for a quiet retreat but with recreational activities for your family or company, fishing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching, deer wanderings, etc
We can accommodate large and small family reunions, school reunions, company retreats, weddings - gazebo for the ceremony and Event Center for receptions for 200. Beautiful photographic setting for the outdoor weddings. We have hosted National Dog Trials, Agricultural businesses, computer technical retreats. A private sanctuary for you.
We enjoyed our stay very much, A beautiful and relaxing place. Also , very quiet. Comfortable place for the 8 of us siblings to gather. Thank-You very much.
We had a wonderful weekend at the lodge, there is plenty of room and the landscape is bieutiful. There are many activities on site and around Anita to stay busy.
4 adults and 5 late teen swimmer used this as our base of operations when we attended 2016 Olympic swimming trials in Omaha. The accommodations were perfect for us. The swimmers used the boat on the pond (5 in the boat was a FULL LOAD), but they enjoyed paddling around the lake and discovering the frogs and other pond wildlife. The house had all the dishes, bowls, and etc for us to feed the crew (some steak knives would be good), but we did find enough knives to manage. The grill was small for the size of the house and fairly wobbly, but it worked fine. Our stay at Buck Run Lodge was a roaring success and We all endorse it wholeheartedly! Thank you~~
The property is located in a very beautiful and quiet location, yet close enough to Anita for a quick run if you forgot something. It was very well maintained and very clean. All we had to do when we arrived was put our things away and start enjoying. The day following our arrival the owner stop by just to make sure that everything was alright. This is a great place for nice weekend retreat and family get-together. Lot's of room for a big family.
We had our family reunion at Buck Run Lodge. Of course there's always one or two families that show up unexpectedly so we had more than originally anticipated. It worked out great anyway! There's room for 1 or 2 blow up beds on the floor. The family made memories with fishing, kayaking, making s'mores at the fire pit and soaking up the beauty of this place. The huge wrap around porch was perfect. My aunt is in a wheelchair but got around just fine. It would be great to have some handicap handles in the shower but it worked out for her without. My husband grilled every meal on their park grill but we had to be patient as it is petite. Another twin of the current grill or a small propane grill you bring along would work. I would definitely recommend this place to others (already have).
Our family gathered at Buck Run Lodge for a 3 day weekend which included golfing, hiking, kayaking, great food, games, and many laughs. The accommodations were perfect for families and especially ours which included 8 adults and two little ones. The lodge has everything you need to prepare meals and sleep comfortably. We enjoyed spending time on the deck looking over the pond and fall colored farm fields. Our family definitely plans on returning for another visit to Buck Run Lodge. Thank you to Kathie and Jim.
What a gem! This is a private, quiet and beautiful home. The description and the photos are accurate. The reality is even better. It is beautifully furnished with antiques and handcrafted items and has every amenity you could desire. We have had the good fortune to stay here several times and look forward to our next visit.
Everything is extremely clean and well-maintained. It is well equipped for cooking at home and entertaining.
We enjoyed the pond, fire pit and large deck. There are no neighbors visibly present, which makes you feel completely private and serene. The geese on the lake are fun to watch. Our extended family has gathered here several times and we look forward to many more gatherings.
Kathie and Jim are superb owners, whose only concern is to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Their commitment to the community and the environment is admirable. We really enjoy this quiet, relaxing and restorative lodge. We will return as often as possible and highly recommend it.
The layout of Buck Run Lodge was designed for group activities, reunions or family gatherings with wide open spaces and common areas. A 15x50 Great Room can seat 30 at tables or small groups around hand-made coffee tables. The room can be closed off with sliding glass doors for privacy while you or a caterer prepares your gourmet lunch or evening meal. The wrap-around deck is another venue for dining or meetings with tables and chairs. WINTER RATES AVAILABLE
