Functional but a bit frumpy

First the positive, this is a spacious, functional space. All the appliances and air conditioning are in good working order. The town home is generally clean, other than the carpet which really needs a good cleaning.

The furnishings from the beds, to the chairs and couch to the linens and towels are generally dingy and uncomfortable.

There is a pool available, but that is it for amenities .

Owner's Response: Thank you for your response, firstly we appreciate the positive comments but have to disagree with your wording on the furnishings, while not brand new and pristine they are far from as described and we continue to get positive feedback from guests as to the presentation of the property on arrival. There is a fantastic heated community pool on this gated community which is near to all attractions plus great restuarants and shops for your convenience. We would have been happy to address this guests comments while they where here for 2 months but we did not receive a call to explain her issues during the stay. We are and always will be conscientious on presenting a great product at all times to our valued guests and also looking to improve the guest experience year on year.

We were given the wrong address to start with. Mac insisted the house number was correct. We had to locate the villa by trial and error - stopping at each villa looking for a lock-box!

6 days into our holiday, the air conditioning stopped working. Mac tried to charhe us for the callout, to which we refused to pay. He advised it was all fixed. The next day the air conditioning still was not working. Again he sent somebody out, they said it was fine, so then he sent the AC Company. Mac tried to blame us saying we had placed the AC into a 2 stage furnace. The AC probably was not working correctly to start with and he though we would be an easy target for the repair.

On the 3rd day, the temperature in the villa was 90 degrees and despite advising Mac that my son was asthmatic, he did nothing to help. He insisted that we pay for a new compressor. We had to move out of the villa. If I had left my kids in a car where the temperature was 90 degrees, I would no doubt be arrested.

There are no fire extinguishers in the villa. The door which leads out to the garden and lake has no safety alarm making this villa unsuitable for families with young children.

Owner's Response: In response to the guests comments, I feel we must put the record straight. 6 days after the guests arrival at 4.30pm we had a call out stating that the AC was not working. We immediately sent the AC technician after hours to hopefully solve the problem. The technician reported back to me that the control panel of the AC had been turned to heat and had been in this situation for some hours based on the readings he had taken. The outside temperature was above 90 degrees during the day so you can imagine the heat now being created. The technician got the unit functioning in cool mode but advised that the compressor was making an awful noise and he was unsure how long it would last. The guest was advised this and as this had been caused by the guest tampering with the controls ( against advice in our welcome book) we told them that we would have to charge for the call out. No added charges just what we had been charged by the AC company. The next day the guest again reported that the AC unit was not working. Again we called the AC technician out and he reported that the compressor had failed and a new one and fittings was required costing $1950. I told the guest this and said that they held responsibility for the damage and I would need a credit card to cover the repair. They refused even though the AC company provided hard evidence and they had signed off on a rental contract which clearly states they are responsible for any damage or breakage due to their actions. We did offer alternative accommodation but required a card first to settle the AC bill they refused and moved out. As we stand we have not received payment from the guest for the damage caused and the homeowner has had to pay the $1950 to keep their investment active. As noted the AC was in good working order on the guests arrival and for the first 6 days of their stay so to say anything different is a falsehood. I would also like to note the patio door has a security drop down arm lock which meets code and a fire extinguisher is in the hallway on full display. Our previous ratings should prove to any prospective guest that that this is a great, well run property for all the family

Compass Bay Rental

The property was GREAT...very clean, quiet and family friendly. If we could change one thing, it would be the mattresses. It was as if you were sleeping on box springs and out backs hurt each morning when we woke up. It would be nice to have working TV's and Wifi's as wekk. Other than that, it was a good stay.

Owner's Response: The beds do have mattress foam toppers, I will check them again. The TV's were reported to us and we came by and fixed them, the TV's had been put on the incorrect input. The wifi password was not working for a while, I think a guest may have been tampering with it. We welcome your comments.

Apartment. setting and comforts

Lovely apartment and well laid out. Great setting with the pond in the back. Plenty of space and bedrooms, bathrooms are clean. Laundry and towel supplies are a plus. Kitchen is spacious and appliances, pots, pans and cutlery are first class. Only three small complaints prevented me from posting a perfect five: There were two leaking toilet cisterns that run constantly (What a waste of water) and the lounge chairs are old and soiled; lastly, the carpet on the stairs is in need of a good shampooing.

Need new mattresses

Great location, quiet community. The place was clean and looked pretty new. We stayed for 4 night with a family of 5. Nice to have the convenience of staying in a condo instead of a hotel. It was much more cost efficient. The only downside were the beds....they definitely need an upgrade. They were like sleeping on cardboard. If the mattresses get replaced I would give it 5 stars!

Great vacation home. Close to stores, highway & kids loved the pool. Used the cooler when we went to the water park. Had all I needed in the kitchen. Washer and dryer was excellent and convenient. Will recommend. Hope to come back.
