Log Cabin In The Woods

Bedrooms 4
Space 1,250 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

A relaxing, year-around retreat.

Our cabin is on 11 acres, but we have only one neighbor in the summer only. The cabin is on the side of a private mountain at 1300 feet elevation so there is an entire mountain to hike or snowshoe(all sizes available for your use). Our porch overlooks a brook that passes right by the house that runs year around. Because it is remote, cell phone service is spotty at the cabin, but you can use WIFI calling or the land line, we do have satellite TV. There are sleds , snow shoes and snow tubes as well.

The Cabin is 10 minutes from Sherman's General Store, Great Sugar Houses (Maple Syrup around March), and Artisan and Dairy Farms (There is a Vermont cheese weekend and the dairy farms give tours). In 20 minutes you can get to Manchester (18 miles), Bromley Mountain is 25 miles, The Norman Rockwell Homestead in Arlington and another terrific general store are about 15-20 minutes away. In Dorset there is a great marble quarry for swimming; about 15-20 minutes.

Saratoga Springs is about 35-40 miles and the drive is not bad if you want to see the horse races or go to the mineral baths.

There are all types of board games and a pool table in the lower level. There is also a laundry room in the lower Level.

Bedroom on the main level has a queen bed, the Lower Level bedroom has two twins and the upstairs bedrooms have 4 twins in each but comfortably sleep two adults in each. Because we are on the side of a hill, the lower level is a walk out and bedroom has a window.

About Steve Spirito

Why Steve Spirito chose Southwestern Vermont

We traveled to the area multiple times and decided to purchase. We spent 10 years improving the property to a point where we feel we can finally arrive and not feel compelled to work on improvements. Although we seldom come without completing a chore or two.

What makes this cabin unique

The setting brings you down a few notches when arriving from the city or suburbs.

Spacious, yet cozy cabin that feels like home

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cabin for 4 nights with another family. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was- not a speck of dust to be found anywhere on decorations or shelves. The kitchen was perfect and stocked with all the pots, pans, plates and utensils we could possibly need and more. The living room was cozy and had a beautiful fireplace. The kids (both age 9) enjoyed exploring the dozens of games available. Steve was a pleasure to deal with before, during and after our stay- I would highly recommend his cabin.

This was my third stay at this home and it never disappoints, no matter the season!

This was my third stay at this wonderful home! Whenever I go to Vermont I check to see if I can book this property as it truly feels like home. Always clean, quiet and peaceful, offers every amenity a person could want if they just want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life; it's really just the perfect getaway!! I cannot say enough great things about this charming house!!

Awesome Cabin Better Than Expected

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived the cabin was super clean and very nicely set up. Even though it feels nice and cozy this cabin is actually very large with a main floor and kitchen and master bed, as well as an upstairs, basement, and patio area. Steve (owner) was very responsive and easy to reach and gave us clear instructions. The location was very close to bromley and about an hour from Stratton.

The kitchen was fully stocked and we brought our own food to cook. Also there were snow shoes in the garage and we went for a snow hike around the area.

Overall this place is awesome in person and looks much better than the pictures. I would highly recommend and am interested in staying again.

A gem in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most peaceful, beautiful, and coziest cottages a person could ever find. I stayed for a weekend and needed to recharge my batteries-well this property is the perfect place to do that! It is tucked away in a quaint little part of southern VT, built next to a babbling stream on a side of a mountain, and has the most charming ammenities one needs to feel right at home! The house is spacious enough to fit many people comfortably, but still maintains that cozy cabin feeling. It is quiet and private, beautifully maintained, and the owner is very accommodating, giving very detailed directions, activities to do while there, and available if one should have any questions! I cannot say enough great things about this perfect place. I was sad to close the door and say goodbye as it truly felt like home!!

Absolutely Lovely Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage while we were in town for the horse show in East Dorset. It was so nice to come home to such a charming, cozy and clean place after a long day! We loved how quite it was up in the woods and enjoyed every thing the cottage had to offer! Sitting outside on the screened in porch and listening to the creek was our favorite. The owners were absolutely lovely to deal with and they provided us with every thing possible we could need! Definitely will rent next year!

Beautiful, CLEAN, and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful, well-kept, and in a serene setting. We stayed with our three young children and all of us fit in one of the spacious rooms upstairs. The linens, plates, towels, and appliances were all clean. The bathrooms have been updated and were clean as well. Any questions we had were immediately answered by the owner and/or the caretaker. We arrived during a snowstorm, and the plow came the next morning to clear out the driveway for us. The property is beautiful and we would have loved to have gone exploring with our children, but it was just too cold the weekend we were there. We kept ourselves entertained with the many games stocked in the house, and found our weekend to be comfortable and relaxing. We were very happy with this rental and would love to return. We would also highly recommend it to friends and family.
