Dream getaway cabin/house with incredible views close to the best Arizona has to offer. The 3 acre property borders the Kaibab National Forest and is home to the highest remaining density and distribution of old growth ponderosa pines in the Southwest. A gorgeous view of the San Francisco Peaks and Snowbowl is seen from the front deck and living room and a perfect view of Mt. Kendrick from the yard. This high-country retreat is fully connected with wi-fi, direct -TV with HBO on a large flat screen tv, and cell-phone reception on Verizon or forward your calls to the land line. Peace, quiet and solitude is built-in or take a short drive to: Flagstaff with it’s great college-town vibe, shopping and nightlife; Sedona with the stunning beauty of the red rocks, Oak Creek and art galleries; or Williams, the gateway to the Grand Canyon with it’s old-school Route 66 charm. Just minutes off of I-40 and only 1 hour to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, glimpses of which can be seen up a hill a 10 min hike from the front door.
The house has a huge king size bed in the lower main bedroom and a queen in the upstairs loft. There is cushy queen blow up mattress for extra sleepers. There are 2 full private bathrooms one upstairs and one down. The kitchen is really nice, relaxing to cook in and fully stocked with everything a home chef would desire. Toss a ball with your kids in the yard or sprawl out on the comfortable southwest furniture in front of the wood-burning stove and enjoy the view. Cozy and romantic yet spacious enough for 2+ couples or a size-able family.
Nature is poetry here. Fields of wildflowers in the summer and magical snow in the winter. The wildlife is bountiful: herds of elk and mule deer are seen roaming the meadows most every evening. It is a birders paradise- one afternoon brought 17 different birds to the feeder. Some of Arizona’s best day hikes are a short drive away. Stay here and unwind with the fresh mountain air and spectacular views or make it an exceptional base camp for fun and adventure!

Oak hill sled area was 11 miles from the property and by far the best place for snow play in the area. Much better than wing mountain. Had plenty of space to ride quads. But the best part was the stunning views as well as the full cabin to make dinner with the family and play games. Many which were already supplied by the cabin.
if you enjoy the great out doors. this is the place. I would definitely go back again. Peter was very helpful in any question I needed answering.
We enjoyed out stay at the cabin. It was between Flagstaff, Sedona and Grand Canyon. We went to check out Northern Arizona University (NAU) and had so much fun exploring the area. We were lucky and got some snow when we were there, but it was just the right amount to make it an enjoying life time memory. There is a wonderful hill out the back of the property that is a good little hike up. The location is off the beaten path. It is about 15 minutes off of highway 40, and off asphalt roads. Try to go during daylight to make it easier to find the cabin.
We found this delightful cabin/house perfect for a “girls getaway” to hike and enjoy the cool weather of Northern Arizona as we escaped the long, hot summer and heat of Tucson. The location was perfect for us to hike nearby trails and the Sycamore Canyon rim and make a trip to Bearizona and Williams when we needed a break. We brought food for our own gourmet meals at breakfast and dinner and found the kitchen well equipped with everything we needed (and then some!). While the weather was pleasantly cool, central heat allowed us to warm a bit in the early morning. The wood burning stove would be nice during colder weather, but we wanted to be cool. It felt like home with all the things you’d want including TV, Wi-Fi, and other forms of entertainment if desired for after dark. Beds were very comfortable and bathrooms nice with all the amenities if you forgot something. This was like staying in the home of friends rather than a rental. The owner was friendly, helpful, and very responsive. We really enjoyed our getaway!
The place was great. We will stay again. The views were breathtaking. I loved hearing the elk in the morning. Hopefully next time they will have decent patio furniture. I wanted to eat and hang out outside, but there were only 2 broken chairs out there.
The house itself is roomy and comfortably furnished with windows affording views of the surroundings. The kitchen provides for all cooking needs. TV setup works fine. The real glory of the place is the setting in the woods. It is almost eerily quiet at night but raucous with bird calls and songs in the morning. Lots of viewings of deer, various rodents, and all those birds. We encountered a small herd of elk on a nearby road. Excellent hikes are accessible within minutes, particularly Mount Kendrick. The owner was responsive.
