Dream getaway cabin/house with incredible views close to the best Arizona has to offer. The 3 acre property borders the Kaibab National Forest and is home to the highest remaining density and distribution of old growth ponderosa pines in the Southwest. A gorgeous view of the San Francisco Peaks and Snowbowl is seen from the front deck and living room and a perfect view of Mt. Kendrick from the yard. This high-country retreat is fully connected with wi-fi, direct -TV with HBO on a large flat screen tv, and cell-phone reception on Verizon or forward your calls to the land line. Peace, quiet and solitude is built-in or take a short drive to: Flagstaff with it’s great college-town vibe, shopping and nightlife; Sedona with the stunning beauty of the red rocks, Oak Creek and art galleries; or Williams, the gateway to the Grand Canyon with it’s old-school Route 66 charm. Just minutes off of I-40 and only 1 hour to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, glimpses of which can be seen up a hill a 10 min hike from the front door.
The house has a huge king size bed in the lower main bedroom and a queen in the upstairs loft. There is a super thick full size fold away mattress for extra sleepers. There are 2 full private bathrooms one upstairs and one down. The kitchen is really nice, relaxing to cook in and fully stocked with everything a home chef would desire. Toss a ball with your kids in the yard or sprawl out on the comfortable southwest furniture in front of the wood-burning stove and enjoy the view. Cozy and romantic yet spacious enough for 2+ couples or a size-able family.
Nature is poetry here. Fields of wildflowers in the summer and magical snow in the winter. The wildlife is bountiful: herds of elk and mule deer are seen roaming the meadows most every evening. It is a birders paradise- one afternoon brought 17 different birds to the feeder. Some of Arizona’s best day hikes are a short drive away. Stay here and unwind with the fresh mountain air and spectacular views or make it an exceptional base camp for fun and adventure!

The place was great. We will stay again. The views were breathtaking. I loved hearing the elk in the morning. Hopefully next time they will have decent patio furniture. I wanted to eat and hang out outside, but there were only 2 broken chairs out there.
The house itself is roomy and comfortably furnished with windows affording views of the surroundings. The kitchen provides for all cooking needs. TV setup works fine. The real glory of the place is the setting in the woods. It is almost eerily quiet at night but raucous with bird calls and songs in the morning. Lots of viewings of deer, various rodents, and all those birds. We encountered a small herd of elk on a nearby road. Excellent hikes are accessible within minutes, particularly Mount Kendrick. The owner was responsive.
We had a wonderful stay at this house. The house has pretty much anything that you need. Just bring your food. One day we walked to the top of the hill behind the house. Another day we went for a long walk in the National Forest behind and next to the house. We visited the Grand Canyon National Park a few times and Side Rock in Sedona. The house has no air conditioning, but we found it cool enough if we opened the windows. I suggest you bring a few small fans if visiting in the summer months. They really helped. The outdoor gas grill also has a burner on the side. We used this to cook on frequently. The house could use some clothing storage. We had to live out of our suitcases, but it was okay. We had no cell service on AT&T at the house, but we did have wi-fi. All in all, I highly recommend this property. Our family had an awesome time.
Very nice accommodations; there were some plumbing problems and had to cut our stay short, but I would return. Owner was very gracious. Got to see the horned elk and family as we were leaving. That made it even better.
We just got back from our stay and trip to the Grand Canyon. The house was lovely, with a fully appointed kitchen and plenty of linens. The views out the front windows were gorgeous, and at night it seemed that you could reach up and touch the stars. We even saw a couple of shooting stars! I had coffee on the patio each morning. It was so quiet you could hear the sound of bird wings. The only down side is it was so far from everything. It was at least a half an hour drive to get anywhere, and was nearly 2 hours to the Grand Canyon. Maybe it's because of being from back East, but I don't call that close. It was still a great place to stay though, and I recommend it for people who don't mind long drives.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful little cabin! We visited Sedona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon and the cabin was convenient to all three. We loved the mountain view and saw some beautiful wildlife just by looking out the cabin window. We ate breakfast and dinner in and everything we needed was there to prepare and enjoy our meals. It was the perfect size for our family of 4. Thanks for another great Home Away experience!!
