A peaceful and relaxing home!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough nice things about this place! Its secluded, no other houses are in view and on a very quiet road. It is very quiet and very clean. Spotlessly clean! The view from the front of the home is amazing, and i made a point to sit out there every morning with my cup of coffee. The home itself has everything you need for your stay. The kitchen had all the right small appliances and cookware, the family room had very comfy couches, and a good amount of board games and puzzles for those rainy days. We had a very impassioned game of Dog-opoly. We were able to catch Game of Thrones, as they had HBO.

The basement level is amazing. A big screen tv, huge couch, pool table, bar, slot machines (my 11 year old son was enthralled), darts, jukebox, and a bunch of other activities.

The loft contained the master bedroom (it has a door, so it's not open) and bath and a sitting area, which was nice that my husband and I had that area to ourselves. The bathtub was a giant! My favorite was the reading loft with a giant lounging chair that was soooo comfy! I called it the 'Mom Cave' lol. The windows opened up to the gorgeous views of Welch and Dickey.

There is a huge fire pit outside, and we made use of it and the ample supply of camping chairs to make s'mores and tell scary stories. A fox visited us a dusk one night, and sat at the edge of the yard watching us, probably hoping for s'mores too.

If you stay during the warmer months, you will be delighted to know there is an outdoor shower! I've never seen a house in the mountains with one, and it was a treat! I loved it.

We hiked up Welch-Dickey, which the trailhead is right down the street, and also walked down the Smart brook trail, which is a nice easy hike through the woods along the river. There was a neat little swimming hole on the smart brook, but it was very cold!

We ate at the Covered Bridge restaurant, which is very close, and i recommend it. Also recommend the hike up Welch Dickey, and the Lost River and Boulder Caves! I went horse riding without the boys, down the street at the Rocky River Ranch. It was a good time! We took a day trip down the Kangamangus to Conway and tubed down the Saco river (that was a lot warmer than the Smart Brook),

All and all this place was a great place to stay for our summer vacation in the mountains. Doug and Kristen have obviously put a lot of thought and time into creating such a lovely place, I highly recommend it! We'll be back for sure!

Relaxing time in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautiful, and has a basement that makes you want to stay home for the evening. Doug the owner was very easy to communicate with and we found everything we needed at the house. The house is centrally situated to some lovely hiking and an hour from Mount Washington which is also a worthy day trip

Great place, will be back!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Doug's house. The booking process was very easy with him and he was extremely responsive with any questions I had. We spoke on the phone a few times to exchange information and he was very helpful.

When we arrived at the home everything was VERY clean and neat. Doug also left a helpful binder that labeled and gave specific directions for everything we needed. The house is beautifully decorated and has a great cabin feel. The fireplace was fantastic and the views from every room are beautiful. There is a gorgeous wrap-a-round deck that we didn't get to take advantage of because it was freezing! The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, mugs, etc. Everything we needed. There was also basic amenities like paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, etc.

The house is very spacious, including a game room downstairs that has plenty of fun things to do including a pool table, Wii and darts. We didn't have cell service but had no issues with the wifi connection.

The location of the house is very convenient to the ski slope and downtown Waterville where there are restaurants, bars and shops. We even had pizza delivered to the house one night.

The driveway is fairly steep but is in great condition.

Overall we had a fantastic weekend and look forward to booking again for next year!

Wonderful place in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We're a grown up family of four from England and stayed at the cabin for just under a week as part of a 2 week holiday taking in NY and Cape Cod. The place is wonderful, everything you need, very homely and the pumpkins and fall decorations were a really welcoming touch. Its right in the middle of the woods but still convenient for the main roads, views spectacular. Enjoyed the basement which is really fun and full of games. We went in early October and had great weather and the colours of the trees which were just turning were awesome. Went on walks, horse riding and (successful) moose watching plus plenty of rides out in the car to admire the scenary. We totally recommend this place.

Great Get-A-Way in New Hampshire

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property because of where it was located and because it seemed to have a lot of privacy, great amenities and a layout that suited our needs. We had high expectations, and and we were not disappointed. We used this as our base of operations as we took day trips to Wolfeboro, Mt Washington and the Shaker Village in Canterbury. We spent the days on the road, and enjoyed the property each evening. Prior to arriving the owners provided quick responses to a few questions that we had, and the information about the property was accurate. If your looking for a great property with lots of amenities in the Waterville Valley area, this is your place !!!
