Gorgeous rustic cabin with modern amentities.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin met all my requirements for a winter dream getaway in the mountains! I stayed for a long relaxing weekend with a small group of friends. The cabin has that rustic look with modern amenities. The best of both worlds! Upon entering, the home was super clean and very welcoming. The modern kitchen was spacious and had everything you could need to whip up a warm meal (which I did many times!). The view of the mountains from the window above the sink made me volunteer for dish duty every time (although the dishwasher did all the hard work!) Despite the cold weather, I made sure I went out on the wrap around porch just long enough to enjoy a cup of coffee and the gorgeous view.

The living space was just as wonderful! There are plenty of comfy couches and chairs to kick back on. (Wifi & cable too!) The gas fireplace is easy for anyone to use. With the stone build out and a stuffed bear mounted above the mantel, it's definitely a focal point in the living room area! There is an amazing loft space on the top floor with a sitting room with plenty of windows facing the mountains. This was my favorite spot to relax and take it all in.

The 3 bedrooms were cozy. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of dresser and closet space to unpack your things. A bonus (and something unexpected for a cabin), was that there were 3 bathrooms! The master suite bathroom had an upright shower along with a jacuzzi tub. The main floor had a large bathroom with a double sink and a full bath/shower. The basement even had a bathroom with a shower stall So no one has to fight for bathroom time in the mornings!

The basement is where the good times are at! We had fun playing board games, slot machines, playing pool & darts and watching the Pats game down there! We had a good laugh at Buck the singing mounted deer head too! I could've stayed in the cabin the whole time....but we did venture out for a few hours each day. You're about a half an hour from Lincoln, so we went up to the Ice Castles, ate at the Common Man, took a ride up through Franconia Notch making a few stops along the way. I'd love to stay again during the fall to enjoy the foliage and venture out for some outdoor activities.

Depending on how much snow is on the ground, it can be a little tricky making your way to the cabin on the snow packed roads and the steep driveway. AWD or 4WD autos are strongly suggested. Thanks to Doug & Kristen for sharing their beautiful home with us!!

Spectacular Log Cabin !

  • 5 of 5

Truly one of the nicest Log Cabins I have ever stayed in. If you are looking for a quite getaway in the White Mountains of New Hampshire this Log Cabin is the perfect spot. This house has everything you would think of to entertain family and friends for a long weekend. Homeowners are wonderful and will help with any questions you have on the surrounding area to plan your vacation.

An amazing cabin in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin from the minute we walked in the door. Well appointed, super clean, beautiful view. We enjoyed coffee in the morning watching the hummingbirds feed. We hiked Welch-Dickey and Smarts Brook and also drove to the top of Mount Washington. One very rainy day spent in the upper floor playing Uno and doing puzzles. We also had a couple of fires and barbecues. Thanks to Doug and Kirsten for a wonderful place to stay!!

A peaceful and relaxing home!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough nice things about this place! Its secluded, no other houses are in view and on a very quiet road. It is very quiet and very clean. Spotlessly clean! The view from the front of the home is amazing, and i made a point to sit out there every morning with my cup of coffee. The home itself has everything you need for your stay. The kitchen had all the right small appliances and cookware, the family room had very comfy couches, and a good amount of board games and puzzles for those rainy days. We had a very impassioned game of Dog-opoly. We were able to catch Game of Thrones, as they had HBO.

The basement level is amazing. A big screen tv, huge couch, pool table, bar, slot machines (my 11 year old son was enthralled), darts, jukebox, and a bunch of other activities.

The loft contained the master bedroom (it has a door, so it's not open) and bath and a sitting area, which was nice that my husband and I had that area to ourselves. The bathtub was a giant! My favorite was the reading loft with a giant lounging chair that was soooo comfy! I called it the 'Mom Cave' lol. The windows opened up to the gorgeous views of Welch and Dickey.

There is a huge fire pit outside, and we made use of it and the ample supply of camping chairs to make s'mores and tell scary stories. A fox visited us a dusk one night, and sat at the edge of the yard watching us, probably hoping for s'mores too.

If you stay during the warmer months, you will be delighted to know there is an outdoor shower! I've never seen a house in the mountains with one, and it was a treat! I loved it.

We hiked up Welch-Dickey, which the trailhead is right down the street, and also walked down the Smart brook trail, which is a nice easy hike through the woods along the river. There was a neat little swimming hole on the smart brook, but it was very cold!

We ate at the Covered Bridge restaurant, which is very close, and i recommend it. Also recommend the hike up Welch Dickey, and the Lost River and Boulder Caves! I went horse riding without the boys, down the street at the Rocky River Ranch. It was a good time! We took a day trip down the Kangamangus to Conway and tubed down the Saco river (that was a lot warmer than the Smart Brook),

All and all this place was a great place to stay for our summer vacation in the mountains. Doug and Kristen have obviously put a lot of thought and time into creating such a lovely place, I highly recommend it! We'll be back for sure!

Relaxing time in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautiful, and has a basement that makes you want to stay home for the evening. Doug the owner was very easy to communicate with and we found everything we needed at the house. The house is centrally situated to some lovely hiking and an hour from Mount Washington which is also a worthy day trip
