This unit comes with a kitchenette, dining room, large bathroom, bedroom with Mexican rugs, Mexican mirror, desk, chair, queen-sized bed, book case, and two closets. The bedroom opens onto the front porch, where you are likely to be visited by deer, hummingbirds, jackrabbits, cottontails and a variety of birds.
The kitchenette includes a small refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, and two-burner electric hot plate. You will have use of the laundry room and hot tub. The dining room has seating for four with mountain views through the picture windows. The property is a ten-minute drive from the Continental Divide Trail and other great walks, but you can hike and bike straight out of the house as well. The house is five minutes from the highway, and ten minutes from downtown Silver City. The property is so serene, people come for meditation retreats. Weddings can be held here as well.
I grew up in Chicago, went to school on the East Coast, and did corporate work in big cities until I discovered the country. Moved to Maine and changed my focus to music and healing work.
I'm interested in helping people get out of their own way so they can make the difference they want to see in themselves and the world.
I've released four CDs. Three of them have original songs. My songwriting is lyric-driven, and the music serves the lyric rather than being restricted to a particular style. Some are folk, others pop, jazz, rock and blues.
Most recently, I've composed a CD of meditative prosperity chants in the Sufi tradition.
My healing work includes astrology, yoga, shamanic work, and a technique I created called Heart Lightning, which quickly removes mental and emotional blocks in as little as one session.
I'm an interfaith minister, and have married people on this property.
I live with a couple of dogs who entertain me so completely that I don't watch TV. (But guest rooms have a TV).
Azaima Anderson purchased this apartment in 2006
Although I loved the beauty and the people of Maine, the climate was nasty. Anyone who can survive winter there deserves a medal. I moved here for the temperate weather and discovered I'd found my tribe. The artists and healers here are creative and nurturing. Once I moved here, I fell in love with the land, the cactus flowers, the rolling hills, and the sun.
The neighbors have ponies and peacocks who have visited occasionally. Apaches used to live on this land, and I have found some of their trading stones on the ground.
I love the proximity to town and country, and the great views.
The man who sold us our house was a naturalist. He took us on a walk and pointed out wildlife footprints along the trails. There are mountain views from every window.
You can hike straight out of the house for hours and never see a soul. But the neighbors are friendly if you do happen to run into them.
The long driveway goes uphill, so you have great views by the time you get to the house.
The flag-lined front porch is a great place to hang out, have a meal and enjoy nature.
I couldn't have asked for a better stay at Azaima's in Silver City! A very nice home and just far enough away from town to be quite and private. Azaima is a great hostess but gives you your privacy. Thanks for the memories from Silver City!
Beautiful rooms, peaceful location, and thoughtful hostess.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Azaima's lovely home. The setting was perfect - far enough outside Silver City for a little seclusion but an easy 10 minute drive into town. Azaima was a gracious host, inviting us in to her home for conversation and a delicious mango lassi upon our arrival. I would highly recommend this property.
Beautiful, secluded, convenient, everything you need. Watching the sunset from the hot tub after a day of hiking was supreme. Four-day weekend was barely enough time to enjoy Azaima's place and the area.
My only complaint is that there is no a/c and even though it cools down at night it was still a little warm for me.
Everything else was great.
My wife and I were in hog heaven at Ms. Anderson's property in Silver City, NM. We were very comfortable in our large cottage space. She was very pleasant and made every effort to help direct us to places we wanted to visit. She was well versed in the goings-on in the area. The small town of Silver City is in a very picturesque setting in the mountains of western New Mexico, giving us daily opportunities for excursions such as the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Park as well as the Historic Downtown which is filled with great spots to eat and shops to discover unique items to take home. We also were very pleased with the museums in the area...and we loved the clean, fresh AND cool mountain breezes. We are still pumped up as we remember the many birds we were able to observe from her front porch swing as we sipped wonderful fruit drinks which she had concocted. Azaima even took us on a hike of the Continental Divide which was close by her property. We wish we could go visit often but we live in south Texas and it is a loooooong drive for us. But, we will definitely make it back again at some point!!!
The Gila cliff dwellings are the main attraction, a spectacular drive away. On the same drive, you can check out the Gila hot springs and the Gila River that still runs wild here, despite efforts to divert it. The City of Rocks state park has some beautiful and unique formations. The Silver City museum will give you an idea of the town's history, in which Billy the Kid figures prominently.
