We purchased our nine acres bordering Otter Creek and fronting on the Homosassa River when it was overgrown and looked nothing like it does today. With love and time, we developed Sunset Point and Sunset Path Vacation Rental Homes, along with our main home. We are friendly and support the Texas A & M University in College Station Texas football program and alumni program, where I was a 1953 graduate.
Paula Black, Manager purchased this house in 1991
We purchased our nine acres because we were looking for a vacation spot. It was a simple choice. With businesses and family in Tampa Florida it seemed ridiculous to buy a vacation home out of state. Why travel 8-hours to your second home, when in a short hour or so we could be on the River. This place is so beautiful and with a little imagination you can close your eyes and imagine being anywhere in the world. The Sunsets are breathtaking and there's we would have gone a long way to find a place as special as the Homosassa River.
You will fall in love with Sunset Path. Besides the home is like new inside, we have upscale furniture and furnishings, from most everywhere in the home you can see the River. You can watch the rare birds and may see some wildlife. The Dolphins romp in the water at your back door. Fish jump in front of you. The air is clean, the water is spring fed and beautiful. You won't hear a horn blow here. Few traffic lights exist. We are a fishing village with great people, yet close to all attractions and away from the traffic, congestion and people touring those attractions. Peace and Tranquility will hold you in their arms. You will go home a renewed person.
We are visiting our family from out of State. This time, we just wanted our own private place. What a grand decision that was. Sunset Path was everything we needed. Quiet, peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. Don't be fooled about it's location. The views of the River are awesome from the home and screen porch. They provided a newer gas grill. We visited our family, then brought them over for cookouts. We were more than pleased and recommend this clean and private home to everyone.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Homosassa this past weekend. Place was in good location on the main river and we enjoyed not being in a main traffic area and having that barrage of people coming back and forth. Nice and relaxing which is what we needed.
Paula is a gracious hostess. Ample parking, nice covered areas for rain shelter, good free dock nearby for your boat ( 75 yards), very close to restaurants and marina's on the river. 45 minute ride out to the bay for scalloping.
I would recommend this place to a family with up to 6 people.
We stayed here at #5 during a weekend of scalloping. The location is a prime spot on the river and the house itself is perfectly set up for life on the river. Paula and her family made sure we had everything we needed. We felt very welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived, and were sad to leave.
The property was in a quiet location still close to parks, shopping and dining. Worked very well for the four of us. Kept clean and had everything we needed.
We stayed 12 nights at Sunset Path and really enjoyed our stay. The surrounding scenery, birds of all types and wildlife gave us great pleasure. Lots of privacy and close to State parks for walking and enjoying the Homosassa area. Although the appliances were dated they were all in good working order. The property was very clean and well maintained inside. Paula and family gave us our privacy but were there to help if we had any questions. The boat dock had been destroyed by storms or aging some time ago but was not repaired when we got there. It would have been nice to sit on the dock of our rental.
The one drawback we had was we were charged for a Pet registration @ $200 when we had no pet. We tried to get this resolved but never got an answer after several requests to Paula Black. We felt like we should have gotten a refund on that but it was never offered. We would have given 5 stars had this been resolved.
Otherwise the vacation was good.
The location is absolutely perfect! The view is so beautiful and welcoming!. The rooms were clean and fresh. We had some guests spend the day with us and they to fell in love with this vacation rental as well. Paula was very very easy to work with and she is such an incredibly gracious hostess. It is a perfect place to come home to after a day of fishing, scalloping and swimming up at the spring. It is a 15 minute boat ride up to the spring and about the same to the gulf. I can't wait to book our next trip next year!
