We purchased our nine acres bordering Otter Creek and fronting on the Homosassa River when it was overgrown and looked nothing like it does today. With love and time, we developed Sunset Point and Sunset Path Vacation Rental Homes, along with our main home. We are friendly and support the Texas A & M University in College Station Texas football program and alumni program, where I was a 1953 graduate.
Paula Black, Manager purchased this house in 1991
We purchased our nine acres because we were looking for a vacation spot. It was a simple choice. With businesses and family in Tampa Florida it seemed ridiculous to buy a vacation home out of state. Why travel 8-hours to your second home, when in a short hour or so we could be on the River. This place is so beautiful and with a little imagination you can close your eyes and imagine being anywhere in the world. The Sunsets are breathtaking and there's we would have gone a long way to find a place as special as the Homosassa River.
You will fall in love with Sunset Path. Besides the home is like new inside, we have upscale furniture and furnishings, from most everywhere in the home you can see the River. You can watch the rare birds and may see some wildlife. The Dolphins romp in the water at your back door. Fish jump in front of you. The air is clean, the water is spring fed and beautiful. You won't hear a horn blow here. Few traffic lights exist. We are a fishing village with great people, yet close to all attractions and away from the traffic, congestion and people touring those attractions. Peace and Tranquility will hold you in their arms. You will go home a renewed person.
We are visiting our family from out of State. This time, we just wanted our own private place. What a grand decision that was. Sunset Path was everything we needed. Quiet, peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. Don't be fooled about it's location. The views of the River are awesome from the home and screen porch. They provided a newer gas grill. We visited our family, then brought them over for cookouts. We were more than pleased and recommend this clean and private home to everyone.
We (parents and two young adult "children") had a great vacation at Sunset Path (March 12-17). We had house #5, which has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was perfect for our group or even a larger group (there are twin beds in the second bedroom, and there is a sleep sofa in the living room). The house is impeccably clean, including all of the appliances. We cooked dinner each evening, and all the dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc. that we needed are available. There is an excellent gas grill (which was also remarkably clean, almost like new), and there is a very nice screened wraparound porch (we didn't have any problem with bugs of any kind during our stay in Florida, maybe that has to do with the time of year or the weather). I was able to walk down the yard and fish off the dock every day (I didn't catch anything, but that's not unusual for me). It is convenient to a variety of attractions that we took advantage of: Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, which is definitely worth a visit; Crystal River, where we swam with the manatees; and Weeki Wachee Springs, home of the famous mermaid show. It is also convenient to a large Publix grocery store, and there are lots of restaurants and other facilities pretty close by. The Monkey Island in the Homosassa River is a short jog away (there is a restaurant where you can sit by the window or on the deck and watch the monkeys), and I was also able to walk to the Chassahowitzka Salt Marsh Trails with my fly rod (I didn't catch anything there either; I think if you are serious about fishing, you should probably hire a guide). Overall we had a great time in Florida, and this was a perfect place to stay for the things that we wanted to do. And I do have to reiterate how clean it was (that is pretty important to my wife particularly). We generally like to leave a place cleaner than we found it, but they make that pretty difficult!
The home was very clean and comfortable. The owners are working to update each of their properties. We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We would definitely return.
My husband and I stayed at Sunset Path #5 during our 4 day stay in Homosassa in January. The property is as pictured online and was absolutely perfect for our stay. The unit was spotless and had all of the supplies we needed so we didn't have to make a trip to the store to pick up dish soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent or the like. The bed was heavenly, I don't know what kind of mattress they have, but my back sure did like it. The furnishings were perfect for a Florida home. I fabric on the sofa was so soft to the touch, slightly faded from the warm Florida sun. The entire side of the family room is windows and sliding doors giving you a fantastic view of the river. We always had beautiful birds to watch. Sitting outside was a joy in the screened in porch which goes across the full length of the unit. We were able to put our kayaks in right beside the house and paddle down to the spring where the Manatees congregate with their calfs this time of year. There are several places to eat right around the corner if you don't feel like making dinner yourself. Just a great place to get away.
This was our fourth trip In 2 months. As always we saw several Bald Eagles,Otters and Manatee's.It was a little chilly but still Beautiful. The house was as always, completely set up with all you need.We enjoyed The Freezer again with the best Shrimp ever and Stone Crab Claws as well. Then with Publix just down the road,we cooked steaks on the grill downstairs and enjoyed the entire trip. Thanks again Paula for all you do to make this place home for whoever stays there. My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Homosassa this past weekend. Place was in good location on the main river and we enjoyed not being in a main traffic area and having that barrage of people coming back and forth. Nice and relaxing which is what we needed.
Paula is a gracious hostess. Ample parking, nice covered areas for rain shelter, good free dock nearby for your boat ( 75 yards), very close to restaurants and marina's on the river. 45 minute ride out to the bay for scalloping.
I would recommend this place to a family with up to 6 people.
