Check out our different rates. We offer different pricing for longer stays and certain months of the year. The owner of Pelican Perch was a former executive. who relocated almost every 3 years. She understands the stress that a relocation can cause. She offers Pelican Perch as an ideal place to come back to, after a long day of house hunting or just starting that new job
No matter where you are on life's journey, looking for romance, relaxation or a possible relocation, our Pelican Perch offers that special place to stay.
Writing this review just a few hours before ending our wonderful stay at Pelican Perch …. Our nest ! We have spent 3 weeks here and it feels like we are leaving home. Casey is the most wonderful host, paying attention to all details and always making sure everything is fine … even from far away since we only “met” her via emails. The house is really quaint, with a very charming historical feel, beautifully decorated, simple but with all you need to have a perfect stay. Kitchen has everything you may need. Our favorite spot : the deck, either grilling (we did a lot of BBQ) or just reading a book. Since the garden and the house are just on the Pinellas trail : no cars, no noise, just friendly people running, walking their dog or cycling. We enjoyed a lot of great rides with our bikes on the trail and the location of the house, either you want to ride or walk, is perfect : 5mn from the super cute downtown of Dunedin! What else to say except that we have loved every minute spent at Pelican Perch. Thank you Casey, Jamie and the neighbors : you have all made our vacation absolutely awesome!
We stayed at Pelican Perch for a couple of days in June and we definitely fall in love with this wonderful location.
As we would love to come back in two years, we already would like to ask for an advance reservation...
On arrival we were really surprised by the size of this charming and cozy cottage (it may not look like being this spacious from the outside).
All rooms are so lovely decorated and comfortable and when entering the Pelican Perch we felt at once happy and at home.
The cottage is well cared, absolutely clean and well equipped - we did not miss anything (and we were really surprised by the initial stocking, which leave nothing to be desired).
We loved having breakfast in the Florida room and enjoyed finest summer evenings on the deck - next to the beautifully landscaped garden (which is very well maintained by Heidi...). Each overlooked the Pinella's trail and we loved watching all the people passing by as we laid-back and enjoyed our vacation.
The Pelican Perch guarantees a quiet rest, at the same time it's centrally located - just a short walk to the waterfront and with the small coastal town of Dunedin in easy reach. There you will find a number of restaurants, bars and shops (you should not miss the homemade ice-cream at Strachan...).
Just as you can easily get to Clearwater Beach, Tampa or Tarpon Springs...
It was great fun to rent some bikes and going on the Pinella's Trail to Honeymoon and Caladesi Island - these spots are absolutely worth seeing.
All we can say is that we had such a great and wonderful time at the Pelican Perch and we definitely will come back !
(At this point we want to say "Thank you" to Heidi - she is really a wonderful "facility manager" and to Jamie for her warm welcome and who made us feel that we are in good hands.)
Many, many greetings from Germany !

We stayed here for a week in early May. We were impressed by the size of the cottage for two people. We had room to spread out fishing & beach gear. We enjoyed the full kitchen to cook breakfast & most dinners. There was a surprisingly large stock of soap, paper towels, dishes & utensils, pots & pans & a blender. We even used the charcoal grill out back. We usually ate on the back deck & waved to bikers along the trail. Most evenings we walked into town for ice cream or along the Alt 19 highway sidewalks to view the sunset. We also loved that there was a coin-operated washer & dryer on property to wash our sweaty, salty clothes. This kept us from having to bring so much on our trip. This is a great town if you don't want the traffic & frenetic activity of Clearwater.
There are a couple of downsides to this cottage that I have brought to the attention of the caretakers, so this should be no surprise. With the cost of damage & cancellation insurance, the per night rate of the cottage was almost as much as a hotel. So, we were very disappointed by the mattress. It was old, flat, & squeaked so much that we couldn't get in or out of bed in the night without waking the other. We had our best sleep of the week when we stopped at a hotel on the drive home. Ask if this mattress has been upgraded.
Also, there was no covered parking space advertised with this cottage. However, there is a covered carport attached to this cottage - and it was being used to store the owner's father's car all week. We were the only cottage that had to park on the east side of a human-sized privacy/shade hedge. Thus, our car was already hot by the time we left at 7:30 or 8 a.m. each morning for our daily activities. I didn't appreciate this. I did bring it up when we left and was told that had we said something when we arrived, arrangements could have been made. Also, that the carport is too tight for a car and damage has happened in the past, etc. However, the car was there as well as cars in two other carports on the same property, so I think they owner has just gotten used to the arrangement. Ask to park in the shade. You'll notice once you're in town that several of the hotels & apartment buildings have covered car ports for guests & residents so apparently covered parking is normal in Dunedin.
FYI - Sail Honeymoon was awesome as well as Angler 360 bait shop. Eat at Sweet Pea's Cafe. Skip Cafe Alfresco. Too expensive & not unique.
Casey and Heidi could not have been better host. They were available to help us become familiar with the area and attractions. The Pinellas Trail is just steps from the back porch and the historic downtown is a few blocks away. We feel we gained two new friends
During our stay and would definitely recommend Pelican Perch if you are looking for a great place in or near Dunedin, Fl
Lovely cottage, very homey. Hosts are fantastic and Heidi was available to answer all our questions. Not too far from Dunedin Main St but still secluded and quiet. Very highly recommended.
As my family and I were making plans for a summer vacation this year, we wanted to make it extra special for our teenage daughter. My husband and I are beginning to realize that she will soon be past the family vacation stage in her life. We decided that she could invite a friend to come along this year, since there are no other siblings.
Our next dilemma was where could we stay so the girls could enjoy their time together safely, and my husband and I could still have our privacy as well. We certainly hit the jackpot when we found Pelican Perch (HomeAway 3802529) and Casa Del Sol (HomeAway 3639061) in Dunedin, Florida.
These two clean cottages are next door to each other, just off the famous Pinellas Trail. The girls stayed in Casa Del Sol, where they could enjoy their late night snacks and movies without our constant supervision. My husband and I had our privacy staying in Pelican Perch where we had a Florida room and our own deck to enjoy. Although Casa del Sol has a well stocked kitchen, we used the bigger kitchen in Pelican Perch for our meals together.
Since these cottages are centrally located in Dunedin, we could walk to the quaint downtown area for shopping or drive to Honeymoon Island. One day we even took a ferry to Caladesi Island for a day at the beach. We were delighted to find several sand dollars for our sea shell collection.
We loved our choice for a perfect family vacation. I highly recommend either one or both of these quaint cottages to anyone as an ideal place to stay in Dunedin.
