About the property

3 bedroom, 2.5 baths, sleeps 8, close to beach and bike week activities

This is our family vacation home. We have lovingly furnished the home to make it feel like our home, not a hotel. It is our desire that our guests feel at home here as well.

The house has paintings of Florida landscapes, painted by Roxanne Tobasian, a Tampa native. Personal pictures and images of historic Daytona events can be found throughout the home.

The house is a two story home, with all 3 bedrooms on the second floor. Each room is equipped with a flat screen TV. Iron, ironing boards, and blow dryers are in each room. Beach towels, and a large travel/beach blanket are provided for each room.

The home has 2.5 baths. The Bathing Beauties Bedroom has an attached bathroom with bathtub/shower combination and a small vanity. The remaining two bedrooms share a common bathroom equipped with a walk in shower and double sink vanity.

The first floor has a comfortable living room with a large flat screen TV and DVD player. Books providing information on Florida's history, natural resources, and outdoor activities can be found throughout the living room. WiFi is provided for our guests.

The dining area seats 6 adults. The built-in cabinet was part of the original 1920's building, and was refinished when the house was refurbished in 2011. Board games, cards, and DVDs are located in the beautiful dining room cabinet. A few children's books and coloring supplies are also provided.

The kitchen features updated cabinets and appliances. The kitchen is modestly equipped with cooking/baking necessities.

The first floor also contains a powder room.

For added convenience, an outdoor shower is available.

GREAT property, GREAT stay, GREAT hosts!!

  • 4 of 5

Property was exactly as described - nicely appointed, super comfortable. This was my first HomeAway experience, my travelling partner's second. Location was super convenient to shopping, convention center and the beach! Rating 4/5 instead of 5/5 through no fault of the property or presentation. Whatever circumstances may have occurred, properties adjacent on both sides are vacant and dilapidated. Residential property behind at the time of our stay was storage of commercial beach rental box trailers. These were detractors from this property's very nice 2nd floor deck, but was well obscured from the patio by the stockade fence surround. Otherwise excellent experience!

Owner's Response: We are pleased to hear that the home meet your expectations! We work hard to ensure the house is in pristine shape for every guest. We are working with the city of Daytona Beach and Volusia County to improve the neighborhood. Our neighbors were hit hard by both hurricane Matthew and Irma. As a result, several properties have been abandoned and are falling into disrepair. We love Daytona Beach, and our home, and are looking for opportunities to improve the area near Main Street and the convention center.

We stayed at this house for the turkey rod run car show and were blown away how clean and stocked the house was. Plenty of towels, pillows, etc... everything was spotless. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. We will definitely want to be staying here again next year!!

Repeat House Guest

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming back here for 4 yrs in a row. This house is one the best rentals i have ever stayed at, has all the comforts of home. Owners very easy to deal with, had someone in our group leave something behind and they mailed it back at no cost, offered but they said we got this. Love the additional bathroom. We will be back!!

Amazing location with top notch owners

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house during a truck show. While we had to spend most of our time at the Ocean Walk Center working at our booth, we truly enjoyed the house. It was better than the Hilton. The owners went above and beyond when we had problems with a stranger and told us how to handle the situation. The place is beautiful and very well maintained. Thank Christy and Family for allowing us to rent your property!

Cozy Beach Home

  • 5 of 5

Loved this place. It's so close to everything. So nice and cozy. The home has been remodeled. Everything in the home makes you feel very comforted from the first moment you walk in the door. The owners have so many accommodations. And Christy, the owner, was so friendly and always immediately available to answer any questions. I will definitely reserve this home again for my next stay in Daytona Beach.

About Christy Gregg

I was born in Orlando, and spent much of my first year on Daytona Beach. Even though my family moved shortly after I turned 1, I have always loved Florida beaches.

I now live in Northern California with my husband Jamey. We love the Sierra Nevada mountains and the access to national forest. But for me, there was always a yearning to be near a beach.

Luckily, our youngest son had the opportunity to play several baseball tournaments in Florida. Those trips allowed me to introduce Jamey to the beautiful Florida beaches and the casual Florida lifestyle.

In addition to baseball, our love of motorcycling brought us to Daytona for several visits. Jamey and I are avid motorcyclists and in 2009, we made our first annual trek to Daytona for Bike Week. We were hooked, and we began our journey to find the prefect beach side home. Four years later, we found the perfect home for our family vacations.

Christy Gregg purchased this house in 2014

Why Christy Gregg chose Smith's Memento

Jamey and I knew the Barnacle House (nick named by the previous owner) was the perfect beach side vacation home for us. Just a few blocks from the boardwalk, one block north of Main Street, and one block east of Ocean Center and Peabody Auditorium, the house is in a great location. The building was originally a water house for the Halifax fire district, that was later converted to a residence. The house's exterior exudes 1920's charm, while the interior has been updated to include all the amenities of the 21st century.

What makes this house unique

The Barnacle House is the perfect vacation home for our family. The house features a fully fenced yard that provides privacy and security. The back yard accommodates an RV, with full hook-ups and easy drive through access. There is also an outside shower and large patio area.
