About the property

3 bedroom, 2.5 baths, sleeps 8, close to beach and bike week activities

Walk to beach (.4 miles, 10 minutes), Main Street, Ocean Center, Ocean Walk, and water park!

This is our family vacation home. We have lovingly furnished the home to make it feel like our home, not a hotel. It is our desire that our guests feel at home here as well.

The house has paintings of Florida landscapes, painted by Roxanne Tobasian, a Tampa native. Personal pictures and images of historic Daytona events can be found throughout the home.

The house is a two story home, with all 3 bedrooms on the second floor. Each room is equipped with a flat screen TV. Iron, ironing boards, and blow dryers are in each room. Beach towels, and a large travel/beach blanket are provided for each room.

The home has 2.5 baths. The Bathing Beauties Bedroom has an attached bathroom with bathtub/shower combination and a small vanity. The remaining two bedrooms share a common bathroom equipped with a walk in shower and double sink vanity.

The first floor has a comfortable living room with a large flat screen TV and DVD player. Books providing information on Florida's history, natural resources, and outdoor activities can be found throughout the living room. WiFi is provided for our guests.

The dining area seats 6 adults. The built-in cabinet was part of the original 1920's building, and was refinished when the house was refurbished in 2011. Board games, cards, and DVDs are located in the beautiful dining room cabinet. A few children's books and coloring supplies are also provided.

The kitchen features updated cabinets and appliances. The kitchen is modestly equipped with cooking/baking necessities.

The first floor also contains a powder room.

For added convenience, an outdoor shower is available.

About Christy Gregg

I was born in Orlando, and spent much of my first year on Daytona Beach. Even though my family moved shortly after I turned 1, I have always loved Florida beaches.

I now live in Northern California with my husband Jamey. We love the Sierra Nevada mountains and the access to national forest. But for me, there was always a yearning to be near a beach.

Luckily, our youngest son had the opportunity to play several baseball tournaments in Florida. Those trips allowed me to introduce Jamey to the beautiful Florida beaches and the casual Florida lifestyle.

In addition to baseball, our love of motorcycling brought us to Daytona for several visits. Jamey and I are avid motorcyclists and in 2009, we made our first annual trek to Daytona for Bike Week. We were hooked, and we began our journey to find the prefect beach side home. Four years later, we found the perfect home for our family vacations.

Christy Gregg purchased this house in 2014

Why Christy Gregg chose Smith's Memento

Jamey and I knew the Barnacle House (nick named by the previous owner) was the perfect beach side vacation home for us. Just a few blocks from the boardwalk, one block north of Main Street, and one block east of Ocean Center and Peabody Auditorium, the house is in a great location. The building was originally a water house for the Halifax fire district, that was later converted to a residence. The house's exterior exudes 1920's charm, while the interior has been updated to include all the amenities of the 21st century.

What makes this house unique

The Barnacle House is the perfect vacation home for our family. The house features a fully fenced yard that provides privacy and security. The back yard accommodates an RV, with full hook-ups and easy drive through access. There is also an outside shower and large patio area.

What a gem!

  • 4 of 5

The house had everything we could ever need. Check-in/ check-out went smooth. The owner was just a phone call away and so welcoming. The supplies for guests were extensive and reminded me of staying at an old friend's house. The house was in great condition and close to the beach. We chose the house because of the proximity to the Ocean Center Convention Center and it did not disappoint. This house is highly recommended. Note that the neighborhood is a little rough around the edges, but I saw lots of work being done on other houses in the neighborhood in an effort to clean up the area. Everyone we ran into on our walks to the convention center or beach was very kind and polite. We will be back!

Best stay in a decade!

  • 5 of 5

I have to begin this review by saying that I’ve been attending an event on the same weekend in Daytona for the last 13 years. This is BY FAR, the best experience with lodging I have had in that entire time!

The house is fully furnished and clearly well-cared for with more ammentities and items than you could possibly need! The furniture is comfy and the rooms are adorable. We slept 10 consistently without any space concerns. Unlike a lot of properties, this is like walking into someone’s actual home and no detail went unnoticed. We had friends with a small child and there were ammenties for them as well including a high chair.

The owner has been amazing to work with, answering all questions and making the whole process easy for someone who hasn’t booked a lot with HomeAway before.

20/10 will be booking our next stay here if our staffing for the event and plans remain the same!!!

This was my first time using VRBO and it was great. Such an easy process and the owners were very accommodating. The house was beautiful inside and out, pictures do not do it justice! I can not think of anything negative about the house or our stay. We will definitely be back !!
