visit our farm where me and my parents conduct grape and olive cultivations;
taste our wines and extra virgin olive oil: we produce wines from merlot, sirah and grillo grapes.
The apartment is located in Salemi’s old town. Here the atmosphere is very special: quiet, charming and relaxing. Three different cultures coexist in the narrow alleys: Christian, Arabic and Jewish. The apartment is border with the Jewish-style part quarter, called Giudecca; while the Arabic-style one is called Rabato.
On 1968 an earthquake changed very much the physiognomy of the town. So walking around you will see beautiful churches and buildings together with tumbledown and abandoned houses, which testify the passing of the time and, if possible, increase the charm of these places. As other tourists in the past, maybe you will fall in love with one of these houses and decide to restore it in order to create your own peaceful refuge in this Sicilian corner.
One of the best restoring intervention after the earthquake has involved the square at the top of the town: international architect Alvaro Siza has succeeded in harmonizing the impressive castle and what remains of the ex-cathedral after the jolts.
Strong point you shall consider: Salemi has a very good position to visit Trapani’s province. You can reach quickly the most beautiful sea places and the main cultural and touristic centers.
In 30 minutes/1 hour by car you’ll be swimming in the sea of Selinunte, Castellamare del Golfo, Scopello where you have to taste pane “cunzato”, Zingaro protected area which is a mandatory stop in your trip here. San Vito lo Capo’s beach is a bit farer, about 1 hour and half.
Always in 30 minutes /1 hour you’ll be admiring the archeological sites of Selinunte and Segesta, Marsala and Mozia, Trapani, Erice wit its enchanting center and Palermo.
A trip to Egadi islands is strongly recommended: Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo are beautiful for their sea and nature.
Salemi is on a hill: so during the summer you can enjoy more freshness and less humidity during the night than in every sea town. Consider it!
Car is suggested, preferably small considering the narrowness of some street. Parking is very easy just beside the apartment.
Looking forward to meet you!
