Extraordinary ocean views, great base to explore coastal OR and wine country
The Aerie is a stunning two-story retreat with expansive ocean views that can be enjoyed from the house's two living rooms or on either of the two decks. Take long walks along the white sandy beach, climb the large boulders at low tide or watch sea lions frolic around the Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge just offshore. While it is one of the smallest designated wilderness areas in the U.S., it features the largest colony of breeding Tufted Puffins and the largest Common Murre colony south of Alaska. It is the only northern Oregon pupping site for the threatened Steller Sea Lion.
The Aerie is fully furnished with 3 bedrooms and an office with a trundle bed, two full baths, a fully outfitted kitchen and two large decks that look out toward Cape Lookout State Park. Oceanside is a charming seaside town with a few small restaurants, a coffee shop and post office nestled along a hillside. This is a place to take long walks on the beach, read books (or watch TV), enjoy solitude or time with family and friends in a stunning natural setting. Oceanside is 9 miles from the larger but still fairly rural town of Tillamook, the home of the Blue Heron French Cheese and the Tillamook dairy companies and most recently the Pelican craft brewery and tasting room.
Oceanside is the perfect base to explore the parks that make up the Three Capes Scenic Route. Cape Meares, Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda State Parks have hiking trails for various abilities and stunning vistas.
This beautiful seaside getaway was perfect for us! The quiet little town of Oceanside was a short walk down the hill, and offered stunning views and wonderful walks along the beach. Two small restaurants/cafes in Oceanside provided great food, but somewhat of a wait. The house also provided beautiful ocean views and sunsets by day, and incredible moonrise views at night. Everything you need is in the house; well-appointed kitchens, comfortable beds and roomy living areas. And if you decide to venture out, you are not far away from incredible hiking and other ocean towns like Manzanita. Very kind and helpful owner and property manager. I'd love to return!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Oceanside. The house was amazing with 2 decks to enjoy & 2 levels of living space. It was great to have enough space for everyone!! There was easy access to the beach, but with such amazing views from the top floor you felt like you never left the beach!! Definitely would stay here again!
Perfect base for exploring the northern coast of Oregon. The house accommodated two couples with ease. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and the master bed was extremely comfortable (I didn't ask about the other). There are expansive picture windows and a generous deck that allow full enjoyment of the extraordinary view. Walking the hill to the beach and the restaurants wasn't an issue. But backing in the driveway is a little hairy at night. We were very happy staying here.
Woke to ooohs & ahhhs at the view. The home is lovely and clean with all the amenities you need. We sat at the breakfast table upstairs and watched the waves over and over. It was nice having a complete home upstairs and downstairs, to allow for some quiet in one space while we were talking or someone was watching sports on the other level. Nice long-distance unobstructed view upstairs. Lots of bowls and plates, etc. for meals.
Oceanside itself is sleepy and friendly, easy to get to a great restaurant, The Schooner in nextdoor Netarts, where we've eaten many times and it never disappoints with locally sources seafood and farm produce and a view of the bay. Also the Pelican Pub in Pacific City for an on-the-sand view of the rocks and ocean there.
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
This home has awesome 180 degree views of the ocean from either the upper or main floors. The home is very clean and extremely spacious. The beach is a quick 5 minute walk from the home where you will find a fairly lengthy beach and a tunnel leading to an adjoining beach. The best meals in town, as well as recommended by Fodor's, is Roseanne's which is situated right at the edge of the ocean with amazing views of the ocean and the haystacks. The only disappointment which was frustrating to us, as we are both self-employed, was that the entire four days we were there we had absolutely no wifi connection at all. After contacting management, the lack of wifi connection sounded like it is a regular occurrence and wasn't unusual at all, so be forewarned if you are counting on that listed ammenity.
This house is perfect for a family getaway. It is very roomy, well taken care of, and in a great location. The views, both in the day and at night are amazing and it is a 5 minute walk to the beach. We stayed three nights and will most definitely look to stay here again when we return. The owner does an outstanding job communicating and I highly recommend this vacation home.
