About The Beach House
The Beach House is owned by two of the original builders children, Bill Stephens and JoAnn Semeniuk. Both have spent over 80 years enjoying it as they were 5 and 8 years old when the house was built in 1933 by Art and Lucile Stephens (Lucille in photo above with Grandkids back in the 50's). Art worked as a Purchasing Agent at nearby Lido Shipyard during WW 2, and Lucille ran the Stephens family flooring business. The house in the 30's had no telephone or hot water, and the bay window that looks out over the pacific ocean and Catalina Island was Art's idea. The Stephens lived in Alhambra and early on Art would stay at the house during the week while working at a local Newport Beach shipyard and travel home on weekends. Over the years it was commonly known that if you were lucky enough to stay at the Beach House you should leave coffee and beer in the fridge for the next guest if you wanted to come back!
The Beach House purchased this Cottage in 1933
Why The Beach House chose Newport Beach
The Beach House is a family oriented oceanfront vintage style residence with a vintage vacation cabin feel. It is cozy, clean and inviting. Dog's are welcome at the Beach House and an oceanfront dog park located 3 blocks away is accessible year round.
What makes this Cottage unique
Located at the very West end of Newport Beach historic 'Sandspit', this wide open stretch of beach offers great beach combing, surf fishing, surfing, body surfing and swimming. The House enjoys great year round weather with mostly calm mornings and evenings accompanied by a fresh Westerly ocean breeze in the afternoon. Catalina Island sunsets unfold directly in front of the house and are always a special time of day...

It was perfect!
We really enjoyed our stay at the beach house. The house was equipped with everything, I was impressed. All my grandchildren had a good time in the fence area. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.
We really enjoyed having you at the Beach House!!! Wonderful guests!!!
Really cozy home on the beachfront!
The location of these antique house is amazing, the house feels really homie and cozy and was perfect for our family vacations. They had a fire pit outside so we could go to the beach and hang out by the fire at night.
This place is pet friendly so we were able to enjoy our vacation with ALL of the members of our family.
We had an issue and the owners were very responsive. Thank you so much.
As advertised, very pleased!!!
Dave was an excellent communicator and the cottage was great. The location is perfect and the neighbors we quite as could be. You couldn't get any closer to the ocean and Newport has tons of places to choose for dinner out. Highly recommend, just keep in mind this is a vintage cottage, but has everything you need (TV, internet, etc....)
Lovely older, charming beachfront home
The view from the living room window was gorgeous. The carpeting in that room was stained in several places and I feared we might be blamed for them if the owner hadn't seen it for a while. The bathroom had new white towels and washcloths - hard to stay white if used to wash dirty feet etc. but beds were comfy and I would definitely recommend this house to others. Neighbor Ken was really nice and the kitchen was well equipped with a wonderful peeler, since I brought our famous Gravenstein apples to make applesauce and did not think to bring a peeler. A very nice family vacation time.
We had a great time at the beach cottage!
This beach cottage has so much character and charm. You can't beat the location right on the beach. For being a vintage cottage there was plenty of sleeping room. And the loft was a hit with the boys! The living room has a nice couch and the big picture window is great! My mother loved sitting there every morning and evening. And I was really surprised with how well the kitchen was stocked. There was plenty of pots, pans, dishes etc. I was a little concerned to have only one bathroom but it really was never a problem, the out side shower made all the difference! We planed ahead since we were staying 2 weeks and brought extra bath and beach towels so not having a washing machine was not a problem. I can't say enough about the neighbors Ken and Amy! From the moment we got there until the minute we left they were so welcoming and friendly. They really made us feel at home! We would love to stay again!
We've just added a few more weeks to be available for this summer!!!!
View and location were great. Neighbors Ken and Amy made us feel like we were part of the family. Can't wait to go back
