About the property

Beautiful 1800’s Renovated Farmhouse with WIFI/DishTV and Cell Phone Coverage

This beautiful farmhouse was hit by Hurricane Irene in 2011 and has been fully renovated. The walls and ceilings were removed and new sheetrock, windows, electricity and plumbing have been added. The original hardwood floors have been restored to their natural beauty.

The house is located on an 85-acre farm in the beautiful Schoharie Valley. The owner of the property lives in the back portion of the house. There are no connecting doors between the two apartments.

The view from your front porch is stunning, overlooking local farms and mountains in the distance. You will be surrounded by cornfields on all sides of the property in the summer. You will hear the lovely sound of the rooster crowing in the morning or the sound of the braying of the farm's new additions--Jack and Jill. They are adorable donkeys that love to run and play. During the April snowstorm of 2016, another adorable donkey was born. His name is Donkee.

If you enjoy nature, you can take a walk up the mountain behind the house where you might come across a deer or some wild turkeys. The view of the valley from the top of the mountain is incredible. You can also take a short walk up Vroman’s Nose in Middleburgh or take a hike along the mountain ridge in town. During the winter snowy months, the home is located on the snowmobile trail.

Your rental is an expansive 1,800 square feet with a full kitchen including beautiful cherry cabinets and stainless steel appliances. There is a large open concept living room, full bath and laundry room on the first floor. The second floor has three bedrooms, The Captains Quarters and The Victorian Room each have a full bed and The Bunkhouse Room has four twin beds. There is also a ¾ bath upstairs.

The house is fully furnished including a flat screen TV. High speed internet and Dish TV are amenities included in your rental. You should be able to get cell service in the valley.

Guests will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the rental during their stay. There will be no maid service available. You must bring your own food and personal items.

We are only 10 minutes from Interstate 88. The farmhouse is 1.7 miles from the village of Middleburgh and 3.5 miles from the village of Schoharie.

AREA ATTRACTIONS

Howe Caverns is only twelve miles away where you enjoy an underground boat ride, or have fun in their new High Adventure Park.

Cooperstown, less than an hour drive from the farmhouse, has many sites to visit including the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Albany, our state capital, is a 45 minute drive away.

Maple Ridge Ski area is a half hour drive where you can enjoy skiing and tubing.

Saratoga Casino, Raceway, and Performing Arts Center are a little more than an hour drive.

Downtown Middleburgh is a quaint place for a leisurely stroll and a visit to our nice restaurants and local shops.

There will be a minimum age limit for renters, children are welcome, and pets will be considered.

The Farmhouse

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable. Centrally located and a pleasure to come back home to after exploring the sights of this beautiful countryside. We had a family celebration there and felt right 'at home' (probably because we were home).

Martha was a gracious hostess and the accommodations were very comfortable and relaxing.

Looking out of the kitchen windows over the expansive planted flat to the far mountain on the other side of the valley was like being in 'Gone With The Wind'.. very picturesque. I highly recommend this property. Hope to go back again! Thanks Martha

We had a wonderful experience. The home was great and Martha was so accommodating. We loved hanging out on her farm with the animals and laying on the hammock.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at this Farmhouse! Martha was very welcoming and helpful. The animals on the farm were a highlight for the kids (12 and 10), and the place was big and comfortable for a family of 4. The location was great for us because our kids wanted to go to Zoom Flume, and we all wanted to visit Howe Caverns and hike. If we go back to the area, we would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Farmhouse, and Perfect Hostess

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend. This was our first farmhouse experience as we typically rent lakeside cottages. Martha was awesome. We got lost on the way, and she patiently stayed in the phone until we made it to the house. We got a dozen eggs on arrival--how awesome is that!! My mom loved the donkeys--Jack, Jill and Donkey. But, Minnie the mini horse was her absolute favorite. She's coming back next year just for her! My dog Nacho, although, weary at first, really warmed up to Frosty the dog--the cat, not so much.

I would highly recommend this rental especially for families with children. Especially those looking to unplug from all the digital distractions, and reconnect with nature, the simple life, and each other. That being said, Martha provides wifi, and dish tv--so you have options. The rooms are beautiful, the kitchen is stocked, and the surrounds are breath-taking--strongly recommend hiking

up the hill, the views are amazing.

Overall, this rental totally exceeded our expectations!!! Martha, thanks so much for an awesome weekend...and please tell Minnie we'll be back, and Mama Jill to be nice to Jack and Donkee. Until next time!!!

Owner's Response: I thoroughly enjoyed having you and your family here. The animals totally enjoyed all the attention especially Minnie. Her braided mane was beautiful. It is so nice when visitors really enjoy their stay. I am looking forward to seeing you and your family (plus Nacho) in the future.
