A peaceful, relaxing month

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful vacation spot! We spent most of the time either on the enclosed porch or sitting on the patio down near the lake watching people in their boats fishing or just cruising the lake. A Bald Eagle and a Horned Owl were frequent visitors to the shady, moss laden oak trees. We did not have an opportunity to visit the Kumquat grove or the gift shop, but did have a slice of delicious Kumquat pie purchased at a nearby store. Sure wish I could have brought some of that home with me! Hopefully we will be able to return next spring for a longer visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at our cottage. People like you make it a pleasure to have a property like this. We really appreciate the way you left the house. The wedding turned out to be quite an affair. They put up a large tent on the lots next door and used our place for the rehersal dinner, dressing rooms and rest rooms. We were invited and enjoyed it with the young couple and their families. You are certainly welcome to come again any time that we have an opening. Franik and Rosemary

Beautiful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My Mom and I just spent 2 weeks there,it was wonderful, all the beautiful wild life you see and the Lake to look at everyday and evening, the owner is so very nice and we visited the gift shop and brought home some of the kumquat jelly, the home is clean and well cared for and has everything you need to entertain inside or out,my children had a surprise birthday cook out for me while we were there and we had everything we needed,my 3 yr old great grandson got to catch his first fish from the bank and my 2 yr old great niece loved the swing set in the back yard,it provided plenty of seating for everyone and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing home away from home anytime its available, the owners are wonderful friendly people who make you feel right and home and check often to see if you need anything, they also know a lot of the long history of the area and yes we saw the eagle several times while we were there ant the coots swimming in the lake everyday, this place is awesome!

Owner's Response: Lorraine and her mother were the kind of guests that you hope to get when you rent your home. The cottage was treated as if it were their own. Only the routine cleaning was required when they left. They were very friendly and we enjoyed their company while they were here. They are certainly welcome to come back any time that they can. Frank

We were pleased with everything about our cottage experience. We immediately felt at home. The cottage was just as described on the VRBO website. The owner was a gracious host. The best indicator of a wonderful experience - we were planning our return date before our departure! :-)

Owner's Response: We were well pleased that you found the cottage to be all or more than you expected. When we have good people that are so nice and friendly it makes it easy and worth while to share our vacation cottage. Since we reserve the cottage for our self and our family for the summer months we know how enjoyable it is to stay there. You are certainly welcome to come back any time that it is available. Thank You

Retirement Dream

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned home after a dream month at the Lake House. The most vivid impression is the hospitality of the people of this area. From our host and his family to the strangers that took me fishing on the lake we were overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of the people there. The Lake House provided us with the quiet and peaceful retreat we needed. The American Bald Eagle was a regular visitor along with the ducks, the hawks, the sandhill cranes, and the egrets. Bring binoculars - there is a field guide already there. Enjoy! We did!

Perfect Spot away from the Big City hassle

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week plus a few days in the lake cabin in January 2012 and it was beautiful and peaceful. There is nothing better than spending a week in a situation where a family vacation cabin on a lake is made available to you as if you were part of the family. The owner, Frank and his family members we met are wonderful people who shared their knowledge of the area and of their family kumquat business with us and helped make our stay interesting and comfortable.

Every morning included coffee on the patio watching the many birds and wild life on or near the lake. The area is definitely far enough away from the fast pace of city life but yet close enough so the areas of Tampa and Orlando were easily reachable as a day trip. The local area has all the amenities and businesses necessary to make any vacation comfortable with easy access to restaurants, shopping and large grocery chain stores.

A great place to spend a vacation.

Peaceful cottage perfect for relaxation and birding

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for one week in November and it was delightful! Everyone morning we enjoyed coffee on the screened in porch as we watched bald eagles, osprey, sandhill cranes, a red-shouldered hawk and flocks of migrating geese and coots. This was definitely one of the most relaxing weeks of my life. The cottage was comfortable and offered all the amenities you could want for a vacation. It is located within one hour of Crystal River, where we went to watch manatees, and Siesta Key. Both locations made for great day trips that neither one of us will forget! The owner, Frank, was wonderful to deal with and even gave us a personal tour of the Kumquat farm! We both hope to return next year too! One recommendation for guests is to bring a set of binoculars; you'll want to be able to see all the birds in lake!
