About Jacqueline

Born in NYC, raised in Brooklyn and still I am exploring new places here. I can tell you that the most exciting place you want to be is in NYC, however it will tire you out. So like most New Yorkers who work in the city all day, I wanted to find myself a place away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to hop on a train to work or meet up with some friends for a night out. Brooklyn has become very popular and like myself you'll find it's a wonderful place to enjoy.

Jacqueline purchased this apartment in 1998

Why Jacqueline chose Brooklyn

I choose this property because of the neighborhood and how close it is to New York City. Brooklyn gives you a different feel and experience than what you would expect in NYC. I guess, I would describe Brooklyn as a melting pot with many cultural influences. For example, you can find a restaurant for any type of cuisine! I would say it's just as exciting as NYC, yet not as touristy. It's a place you can escape to as well and live like the residents here. Depending on your vibe, there is so much to do here. Brooklyn is definitely a place to visit while visiting New York.

Apt. As Pictured, but Safety & Service Issues

  • 2 of 5

This is the very nice garden studio pictured; well equipped, very short distance from subway stop, and owner is a pleasant person. The apt. is comfortable except for the transparent curtains at the back windows. A fenced back yard does not obviate the need for opaque window treatments at night. There are 3 major issues; 2 related to customer service and 1, to safety:

1. Security Deposit. Understand, I have NO PROBLEM with paying one, and have paid one for every previous Home-Away stay. Afterwards, deposits were refunded promptly. If you choose this property, request information on security deposits if none is provided in description, which was the case with information that I read. I remember wondering about this, but was busy and went on to other things. The owner sent me at least 2 e-mails and NEVER MENTIONED a Security Deposit. Shortly after I arrived (c. 5-5:30 p.m.) she said, in effect--I need the security deposit in cash, and noted that info wasn't in description. I was stunned! All I could think of was, "It wasn't in payment required online?! I don't have that much cash!" She said that it would be o.k. to wait until banks opened in the morning. Briefly, between hunting for a reasonably accessible bank branch, figuring out what subway train(s) to take there (and from there to originally planned destination), and dealing with excessive subway delays, the plans for my stay in Brooklyn were totally wrecked! 2. Changed Check-out Time. The website indicated that check-out time was 11:00 a.m. I had arranged to be picked up then. After belatedly providing info on Security Deposit, owner belatedly informed me that on Sat. Check-out time is 10:00a.m. When I told her that I was being picked up at 11 a.m., she said would be a charge of x dollars per hour. The info should have been on website, or in one of her e-mails at the very least. (There was a note online re hourly charge for holding luggage after checking out.) 3. Safety Issue. Upon entering inner locked door (from outer lobby accessed via another locked door, which is good), there is a short/small platform that is 8 1/2-10 inches above the level of the apartment floor. The door opens inward, requiring extra maneuvering to close the door. At a minimum, there should be "CAUTION, Deep Step" signs on both sides of the inner door. Because of the safety and service issues, I debated between 1 & 2 stars, and ultimately decided on 2--because the apartment is a nice one.

Adorable and space efficient

  • 5 of 5

Jacqueline was very accommodating and helpful. The home was clean and space efficient and pics matched the space. The bed was extremely comfortable, especially after a long day of walking. The area was safe and the subway was close. Only minor complaint is that you can hear all the movement in the apt above, which can be loud. Aside from that, I would definately recommend this property and consider staying here again in the future!

We loved our little brooklyn home and highly recommend it. It's just a block from the subway and a block from groceries or dinner. It was stocked with the little essentials we might need like coffee and seasonings. It was very clean and comfortable and even had a small private garden for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening drink. Jaqueline could not have been more hospitable. We will definately come again.

A great place to start our holiday

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was as good as it looks in the listing, and Jacqueline and her daughter were very friendly and helpful.

The apartment is brilliantly placed for a City break, being only three minutes walk from the subway. In those three minutes you pass two shops that sell bagels, which we found very handy.

We would definitely recommend this apartment, and if we return to New York, we would happily stay here again.

Comfortable and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable and relaxed are the best way to describe how we felt staying at the property. Jacqueline was very sweet and had a little surprise for us upon arrival. She was very helpful in telling us about dome of the local restraints that we could try while there, most of which were within one or two blocks of the apartment. We never had any problem with noise which was good after a long day of sightseeing it was nice to come home to a quite and relaxing atmosphere. My wife and I were already talking about another trip back real soon. We highly recommend this apartment and it goes without saying that on our next trip we will be looking for this one again.
