Overview

About the property

This rustic retreat, with breath taking views, is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Wilkes County, North Carolina on a private mountain. The chalet style cabin is tucked away high up in a gated community, just 20 minutes from Boone, and is the perfect place to relax as well as enjoy local attractions.

The Community features a clubhouse, relaxing waterfall, picnic areas, small stocked pond with bluegill, redear, sunfish, largemouth bass and channel catfish ready for the fisherman's hook (catch and release please) as well as many mountain biking, horse riding and hiking trails.

The cabin features include:

•Bears/Woodlands Themed Decor

•Sleeps 7

◦1 Queen Bed

◦1 Twin/Full Bunk bed

◦1 Queen pullout sofa

•2 full baths, with a large Jacuzzi tub in master bath

•Stone finished, gas log fireplace

•HIGH SPEED WI-FI and GREAT cellphone reception at the cabin for most major cell providers (rare in many areas of the mountains)

•Satellite HD - Flat screen TV in Living room area with DVD player, Master Bedroom Flat screen TV with Satellite TV/ DVD player, Spare bedroom with Roku TV and PlayStation 2 (with DVD Movies and games)

•CD/Radio/Clock under mounted in the kitchen

•Washer / Dryer

•Complete kitchen including dishwasher and many small appliances (crockpot, sandwich/waffle makers, coffee pot)

-Propane Gas BBQ Grill

Beds all have comforters/quilts, as well as extra throw blankets for your comfort. NO OTHER BED OR BATH LINENS ARE PROVIDED WITH RENTAL - YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN.

Cleaning Fee of $60.00 per stay- NO DAILY MAID SERVICE

Pet Fee $100.00 (if you bring Fluffy or Fido... THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED ON FURNITURE!!!)

The Community is approximately 12 miles outside of Wilkesboro, and the cabin is 6 miles up the mountain (on a partially paved and partially gravel road). During the warmer months all vehicles have easy access to the cabin, but an All-Wheel Drive / 4WD vehicle is helpful for winter months IF there is HEAVY snow for the safest travel.

Buck Mountain Community has some rules too. Dogs must be on leash when not on the premises and if unleashed at the cabin and outside, must respond to voice/hand recall they need to be leashed (for their safety from wildlife and that of the other residents and pets).

There is a Community Garbage Compactor, within the Buck Mountain Community, where guests are required to dispose of their own household trash.

NO Swimming/boating in the Pond or at Staghorn Falls water pooling area. (please mind other Community Posted signage and rules)

Know that this is a RUSTIC MOUNTAIN RETREAT- with all the beauty of nature that comes with the cabin, there are challenges and other gifts from mother nature. Storms can effect satellite TV and unexpected interruption to other utilities (ie. water is from a private well that can loose pressure, or have other issues, from time to time and cause a temporary loss of water service). Also natures little critters that tend to like to visit the cabin too…Lady Bugs usually present (due to Christmas Tree Farms in the area) as well as some other flying insect friends. Like most of the area, brown marmorated stink bugs can be a an issue. (As noted on many websites if you Google it for the mountains and other areas of NC. Google it) We do what we can, but this is part of what comes along with a property in the mountains.

Weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the stay; off the beaten path, but we wanted the peace and quiet. Views were absolutely wonderful and we had clear nights with unbelievable star gazing. Clean, comfortable, relaxing. Great areas and activities are a relatively short drive. Cabin is 5 miles off the main road, through a gated area, and little to no traffic. Bed comfortable but we would rather have had a king; its upstairs and shower is downstairs but there is a large jacuzzi upstairs. Well-stocked kitchen and grill worked fine. Tammy is great with communication and information (thanks!). We would recommend this lovely cabin and would consider staying here again.

Owner's Response: So glad you all enjoyed your getaway to the mountains. I appreciate your complements and always love to hear recommendations to improve the cabin in the future. (The picnic table on the deck and indoor games for the kids came to be at the cabin were all suggestions from prior guest! ) Hope to welcome you back soon!

A+ very clean

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable for 5 people and dogs. The master has a jacuzzi bath. I'd rather have had an extra shower.

Owner's Response: I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin and I will pass your complements on cleanliness to the person who handles cleaning the cabin in between guests. I’m sorry you wished there was a shower instead of the jacuzzi tub in the master, however I do have photos of this posted. It’s also noted in the listing.I try to keep the listing as detailed as possible so no one has any surprises or disappointments with the accommodations.

Perfect Memorial Day weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this cabin! There was plenty of room for my husband, 2 kids and lab. When you step in you're blown away by the beautiful windows and picture perfect mountain views. The kitchen is fully stocked but do bring your own food that needs refrigeration. Make sure to pick those up before arriving since it's about a 30 min drive back to town. My kids loved all the games including the PlayStation. The cabin has lots of movies to pick from. There's also a fire pit and grill on the deck. We loved exploring the catch and release pond and Staghorn Falls. Tammy was so easy and great! She was extremely responsive. We miss this home already!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the nice review. I try my best to ensure my guests have a nice vacation at the cabin, rain or shine....hence the games and movies to keep the kids (or kid inside us all) entertained during “family bonding time or bad weather. I look forward to welcoming you all back soon!

Great layout and decor! View is awesome!

  • 5 of 5

The large windows and high ceiling really give you a great view of the mountains from the inside.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the magnificent views and the rustic little details of the cabin’s woodlands decor. Along with the luxury of the leather sofa and loveseat, as well as the hybrid mattress in the master bedroom. Hope to welcome you both back soon, when the weather is a little better; views from the deck in the Fall are beyond words.

Beautiful view from a comfortable cabin.

  • 5 of 5

My family, including two big dogs, stayed in the cabin over Thanksgiving. All of us had a wonderful time. The cabin had everything we could want: expansive views of the mountains, cozy gas fireplace, hiking trails within walking distance, and an ample stocked kitchen. And my little boy was so excited to have a Jacuzzi tub for his bath! The gated community felt extra safe, and having a washing machine was excellent with two small boys. We enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving there and the weather was perfect. Tammy was lovely and she has a beautiful spot in the mountains.
