The house is located on hill top 2 min drive from Melizzano center, where you can find many facilities i.e. grocery shop, bar, coiffeur and an authentic Italian barber. We are perfectly located for day trips to Naples (55km), the Amalfi coast (102km), Reggia di Caserta (26km), Pompei (68km).
The Sannio area has a lot of interesting and to be discovered little towns like Cerreto Sannita, Guardia Sanframonti and Sant'Agata dei Goti, which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
A globetrotter Italian banker, born in Naples by the sea. Fell in love with the Sannio countryside, its food wines an olive oil living.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this chateau / country house in 2005
Family own propriety, restored an old farm
Relax and escape from every day chaos
We stayed in early September- despite rather disappointing weather- we had a fabulous time. The house and pool are fantastic - with a great outdoor space- even when raining and easy access to shops etc
Gina is just lovely - and Enzo so helpful with the pool. They made us fell really welcome but were not intrusive.
Top tips would be:
1. if you like eating out someone will need to be able to drive in the group - it is some distance from restaurants
2. the satnav has difficulty with the roads - can be tricky and the signs for leMelaRosa are not always clear - but once you have found it - satnav finds it's way home!
3. easy access for both Pompeii and surroundings but also west of Naples exploration from here
4. kitchen is bijou - perfectly easy to rustle up great food with great ingredients
5. having two shower/bathrooms is fantastic luxury
absolutely recommend this for couples or with small children for relaxation and wind-down.
Communication from our home in Florida, to the property owner in Italy was prompt and efficient, making us confident in our rental decision. Months later, when our vacation finally came and we arrived at La Mela Rosa, we were greeted by Enzo and Gina, who showed us around the home and gave us details on how the different light switches, etc worked.
To our surprise and delight, the home is even lovelier than it appears on homeaway.com and has additional assets...Most notably, the charming Gina and Enzo (parents of the owner/manager) who live far away enough to give us the privacy we crave, yet close enough to provide assistance whenever we needed it.
The building itself is nothing-less-than perfectly charming and comfortable. Climate controls worked perfectly, as did the kitchen facilities, linens are plentiful and luxurious, and Gina supplies plenty of extra niceties (free of additional charge) so we had a chance to try many things (soaps, lotions, & local food items) that we would not necessarily tried on our own. Although there is a top-notch nespresso machine, Gina didn't hesitate and honored our desire for a moka brewer, bringing us one the very same day.
Fresh air abounds and, although you may never want to leave the house and pool area, the streets nearby provided us with breathtaking views during our daily treks and, when we needed a dose of urban life, it was a short drive to Caserta and its bustling passegiata.
Of course, for us, there was nothing better than sitting poolside with our apertivos, with the friendly dogs of La Mela Rosa at our side, as we watched the sunset in the distance behind the aqueduct Vanvitelli.
La Mela Rosa is nestled in the countryside, yet manages to have every amenity one looks for in a vacation rental. We highly recommend!
