We've got that too. Awesome knotty pine interior, real fieldstone fireplace, wood pane windows, original wood floors, and plenty of new touches that makes the Hunger & Ransom cabin so much more than a boring, new build rental.
Rain or shine, take in all the up-north greatness under our new, covered outdoor area. Enjoy a BBQ dinner and unwind by the fire pit. Spending time outside in beautiful Northern Michigan is why you're looking to get away as it is, right?
* * Newly Renovated * *
We have put a lot of effort into making this cabin exactly what you're looking for in a place to stay. Everything from a brand new bathroom, flooring throughout, ceilings, to the stain is updated. If there was something we could do to improve, we did it!

Hey there! I'm Aaron. I love exploring new places, trying new things and enjoying those special vacation moments with family and friends. But, when the day's over, I want to unwind somewhere that feels like home, without the routine chores of being home. This is exactly how I want you to feel when you stay at our cabin.
Aaron purchased this cabin in 2014
We booked the cabin for my birthday weekend, specifically to give us a break from taking our 5 month old puppies outside on a leash every couple of hours. They loved the backyard and we were able to really relax!
The cabin is cozy and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The only downfalls were the extremely tiny bathroom, low water pressure, and noisy water pump.
We stayed for 3 full days which was the perfect amount of time to explore the small towns in the area without getting bored. The guest book and dollar bill game made us feel like we knew the past guests and were leaving our own legacy.
We went on an off road vehicle trail with our Jeep (trailhead for large vehicles is about a mile west on the same road as the cabin). The birch trees and fall colors were picturesque.
We also toured Rose Valley Winery, the Dusty Rose antique shop, and flea market. Everyone we met was friendly and we felt very welcome.
It was also great to be able to get some work done since we both run our own businesses and are never off the clock. The internet speeds/connectivity and access to Netflix were great.
I highly suggest bringing your own food to cook meals since there are only 2 small general stores and a few bars within 20 minutes or so. You'll have everything you need, including condiments and baking essentials.
Aaron was very responsive to all of my questions and was even willing to mail us back an item that we forgot to grab.
We would stay here again without hesitation, maybe in the winter or summer to try out snowmobiling and the lake!
We were a group of 3 here for a week to do some grouse hunting. Aaron was great to deal with quick to respond and to answer questions. The cabin has everything you need. Very high speed internet, tv service, comfortable chairs and beds along with a large dinning room table to eat at. The fenced in yard was a major plus for us being able to let the dogs run and play without worrying about them getting out. When we come back again we are definetly staying here again.
What a cute cabin. Mom and I felt right at home as soon as we entered. We had plenty of room to spread out. It had beautiful decor and almost everything seemed to be refurbished into something wonderful and was very pleasing to the eye. The beds were very comfortable. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We were able to use the fire pit which was awesome! We even played the $ Game :). The best part was that I could bring my dog Jacob!! The owner was very easy to work with and answered all questions we had. I will be back for sure!!!!!
We had such a great stay at the cabin. The renters were easy to work with and communicated well, even accommodated our last minute trip. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We especially liked that towels and linens were provided, made packing very easy. Great location and a really nice cabin, wish we had more time!
When looking for place to stay we had three must-haves, a cabin feel, pet friendly and a real fireplace. First two items were spot on and we loved how accepting Aaron was knowing we had two small dogs. During our trip north from down state, I spent the last 10 miles or so scoping out places to buy firewood for a weekend of sitting around the massive stone fireplace. To our families dismay when we arrived a note on the fireplace said that it was not functional. When the temp is in the teens, the cabin really needs the additional heat source. The baseboard heaters ran all weekend in an attempt to maintain. I would expect this is not an issue 95% of the time, we just happened to book for a cold snap. Loved the fenced back yard and we all had fun with the "dollar game". I would NOT rent again unless the fireplace was functioning and I would buy slippers.
The cabin was just what we were looking for in our small vaca. Off the beaten path just enough to relax. The yard was perfect for our lab, who loves to explore and romp freely. We hiked the Au Sable river over the weekend, and loved it.
Aaron was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable in our stay.
We will definitely be coming back!
