Warm, Cozy and Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin for my boyfriend and I as a winter getaway. I wanted a cute cozy cabin secluded in the woods and this was exactly what I got with Whispering Pines! The fireplace was perfect, there was fresh cut firewood for us so we never had to buy any. The hot tub was warm and clean, ready for us to enjoy! The atmosphere of the whole cabin was so serene. The huge window in the living room gave awesome natural daytime light as well! You were not far from water and not too far from town. We went to town and enjoyed some coffee and donuts from Barb's Bakery and walked through some little shops! Although many were closed for the season, the town was so cute! Not to far north of the cabin was the Grand Traverse Lighthouse and Christmas Cove. It was beautiful!! We will definitely be staying here again!! Thank you Tom for giving us the pleasure of staying at your wonderful cabin!!

You were spot on with all of your comments regarding he area and village - please return again to enjoy all of the village amenities during season. Barb's Bakery, Tribune, Tuckers, the Garage and others are just a few guests need to experience! Please make the Pines your home away from home.

Cute with nice amenities.

The cottage is just the right size for my small family. We love to hike so the trail behind the house is perfect, and we love the fireplace and jacuzzi during the winter. Close to town but far enough to feel isolated in a good way!

Perfect get away up north in Michigan wine country

  • 5 of 5

My wife, dog, and I all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Tom was very accommodating and helpful with making sure we had everything we needed and responds quickly. The cottage itself is great, there is an upper loft area with a half bath that we didn't even need since it was just the two of us, but great if we had more people with us. There's tv and wifi which was great and you definitely can't beat the private hot tub!

We did get a decent amount of snow while there in February which was expected, but sitting in the hot tub with the snow covered trees around you and then having 15 deer walk through the trees behind the cottage was more of a magical experience than anything. After that, make a fire inside, get cozy with some warm drinks and you couldn't be more relaxed for a long weekend winter getaway.

We took some time and went into the town of Northport and sat at the Mitten Brewery (new location which is a secondary location to the one in Grand Rapids), lunch at a local joint called the Garage Bar. After that I had prearranged a private tasting at one of our favorite wineries, GreenBird Organic, which happened to be the closest winery (they are closed in the winter, but highly recommend them when you're up in the area staying at this cottage).

I would definitely go back and can see it being a great spot in the summer as well.

Owner's Response: Delighted to hear you loved the Whispering Pines and the area - it truly is magical in the winter. It sure was hard training 15 deer to walk by at the exact time you would see them in the hot tub but glad to know all of my training paid off!! Sure hope you can return when we turn green but if not, why not make the a yearly journey in the winter. Would love to have you return.

Staying @ The Whispering Pines Cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful cabin you have. My wife and I Loved it. Very cozy and quaint. The stone fireplace added to the embience of the cabin. Sitting out in the hot tub on those cold nights was awesome. We watched 4 deer in the cedar swamp behind the hot tub one day. Walked to the beach down the street. Visited lighthouses and shopped in Traverse City.all in all was a great 3 days for the exception of rain 2 of them. Cant wait to stay here again. Thank you Tom for all your info b4 we came and during our stay.

Very Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

We had a very relaxing and refreshing stay! The Northport Cabin is secluded and comfortable, with restaurants, hiking trails, and a bowling ally just minutes away. Tom was very easy to work with, helpful, and accommodating. It was very clean and cozy. I would only comment that there is no dining table - only 4 barstools, and sadly the hot tub was not working the first two days of our visit. This was very disappointing to us, since that was one of the reasons we chose this particular cabin. I know sometimes maintenance/repair times are unavoidable. Also, the stairs to the loft are incredibly steep, so don't plan on any children sleeping upstairs. Other than that, it was excellent.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect mini getaway! The hot tub was clean, hot and ready for us. There was plenty of firewood stocked so we never had to go out to buy some! The house was clean and inviting. The only things I would comment on are that the shower does not go on all the way and that there are no baking dishes. But for us, those were minor occurrences compared to the trip in full.

We visited the lighthouse and the beach covered in ice! It is definitely worth the visit out there! What a site!!! We even saw a couple ice caves. And there were nature made skating rinks that looked like a sheet of glass.

We would definitely recommend staying here.

Tom is such a delight to work with! There was a huge winter storm the day we were leaving and Tom allowed us to arrive earlier than the check in time so that we could leave earlier and avoid the storm. Top notch!
