Stunning sunset views over Ochlockonee Bay from the wrap-around screened porch and 200 ft fishing dock led us to name this place 'Sunset Therapy.' Less than a mile from the open Gulf of Mexico, this home is located on a half acre lot and is surrounded by tall pines, palms, and oaks. The area is all residential, with no giant hotels or condo complexes, little traffic, and room to roam. Within a mile walk is Mashes Sands Beach and state park, including public fishing pier and hiking trails. There are 3 marinas within 20 minutes drive, and a free public boat ramp within a mile where you can put in your fishing boat and keep it at our dock during your stay. This is a natural paradise to be enjoyed by all ages.
We purchased and remodeled this home in 2010, but its unique architecture and views must be attributed to the Simms family who built it in 1966. It features a large great room in the center that is hexagon shaped with 3 walls of windows and french doors providing a 180 degree view of the bay. The dome-like ceiling rises to 14 feet in the center. The kitchen, dining, and living room areas are all under this dome, and the 40 inch HD TV can be viewed by all. The master bedroom has a king bed and computer desk, and the guest side has a second master-size bedroom with 2 queen beds and a smaller kid bedroom with 2 XL twin beds.
Sunset Therapy was not damaged in Hurricane Hermine despite the eye passing directly over us, but the storm surge removed all the decking boards. The dock will be rebuilt but not likely completed until late 2016.
Once you experience the unique ambiance of this home and the surrounding environment, you will fall in love with it too. And you will recognize why we named it 'Sunset Therapy.'

Brent Kerger purchased this house in 2010
We have several family members who purchased properties nearby, and we hope to eventually retire to this area. The main attraction is quiet living in a natural paradise with rapid access to the Gulf.
Natural beauty and fisherman's paradise. Within a mile walk is Mashes Sands Beach and state park with hiking trails and boat ramp. Keep your boat at our 200 ft dock, or just fish from the dock. 3 marinas with great fishing charter boats within 20 minutes drive. Great restaurants, shops, and other attractions with 10-20 minutes.
Thank you Brent!
Fantastic View! Has all the amenities a person would need. Very peaceful...Thank you very much for sharing your place with us. We would love to come back. Barry and Shirley Weaver The Restaurant down the road is Fabulous!!!!! Beautiful Sunsets !
Excellent location, great area to fish and travel the coastal locations. Brent was responsive to any correspondence. Everyone we met were very friendly. House was excellent and perfect for everything that was planned. hope to revisit and stay again. Dining at Angelos and Coastal Trader was excellent. Crumms mini mall had any fishing tackle and advice a person would need. Carrabelle and Apalachicola are a must.
The sunsets here are amazibg! The house was very comfortable and we recommend this home. Brent was a gracious host. The location was farther from our event that we thought, but wiorth the extra drive. Angelo's Restaurant just up the road was a great place to eat. Only snag we hit was that the Internet didn't work the weekend we were there and the dock was still under repair. Highly recommend.
We had a real nice stay. The house was well stocked and clean....I loved the beds super comfortable. The fishing was great. I cannot wait for the next chance to go back.
Just my husband and I stayed in this house with our 2- four legged children. Everything about this place was absolutely wonderful! The advertised price of $129 a night ended up being almost $200 a night after adding all the fee's. That was a little misleading as far as advertising goes but I think most companies do that! Our stay was quiet and comfortable. Beds were wonderful! We would consider staying here again with more family.
We loved our time at Sunset Therapy! It is a perfect way to retreat from hectic schedules, enjoy nature and family, and has plenty of good restaurants nearby. Not just sunsets, but also sunrises and most any time of day are gorgeous from the dock just steps away from your spacious back porch. Great for fishermen, photographers, birders, and families. Brent was prompt and friendly! Enjoy a nap in the large hammock on the screened porch while the sound of light waves lapping the shore and the feel of gentle breezes caress your senses. Everything you need is there waiting to make your getaway memorable.
Walking trail along Mashes Sands Road; Public boat ramp and public fishing pier towards Mashes Sands Beach and state park. Marinas renting boats and with fishing charters in Panacea and Alligator Point.
