About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 8

Sited high on a wooded cliff overlooking the valley below with a beautiful trout stream, this cottage is located in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, just minutes to minutes to Seven Springs and Hidden Valley Resorts; Walk to restaurant and gourmet shop, Short walk or cross country ski to neighboring state park. Short scenic drive to Fallingwater and OhioPyle.

This mountain cottage is the former home of the manager of the neighboring ski resort, and has many luxury amenities. It has been completely renovated, and practically everything is new, while retaining lots of mountain charm. The living room features a 2 story stone fireplace with knotty pine atrium ceiling, skylights, and 2 mission style sofas, recliner, Vizio flat screen Smart TV with free on-demand video access and WiFi access.

The new kitchen features stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, full sized refrigerator, smooth top oven, built-in microwave, and Cusineart coffee maker. A butcher block kitchen island seats 2 for informal dining, while the adjoining dining area with handmade rustic lighting fixtures seats 6. The dining area has french doors which open up to a covered porch and outdoor eating area, providing a continuous indoor/outdoor seasonal living/dining area.

There are 3 bedrooms, all with knotty pine ceilings. A large master bedroom features a built in window seat and high-end, queen Sleep Number Mattress, with adjustable firmness to match your exact preference. Each of the 2 additional bedrooms sleep 2, with plenty of closet and dresser space and a dedicated half bath. A top-of-the line LG Front load Laundry center provided further convenience. The cottage easily sleeps 6, but can accommodate up to 8 guests.

All plumbing and heating systems are new, with new bathroom fixtures, an efficient central heat pump for both heating and cooling, and individual room temperature controls. On a cold winters night, the stone fireplace with low maintenance gas insert provides for additional heat and ambiance.

A big attraction of this property is the access to the outdoors. A large multi-level wrap around deck provides outdoor living space, and sits high above the bubbling trout stream in the valley below. The deck is built around a hemlock tree, which provides for pleasant summer shade. Huge rock outcroppings, mountain laurel, and ferns surround the property. Private trails provide access to a mountain spring and the stream, available for fishing (class 1 trout stream). The property is private, and backs to hundreds of acres of undeveloped mountain resort property. A trail leads directly to the adjoining state park, with lake, sand beach, and numerous hiking and picnic options.

A sun room provides a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors, even if the weather is not cooperative. With windows on 3 sides, rustic timber walls, and very a comfortable Lloyd Flanders Wicker set, it oozes with cottage charm!

Area attractions include ski and golf resorts, upscale winery (10 minutes), Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, White Water Rafting, Amusement Parks, and biking. Additionally, the neighboring resorts offer restaurants, spas, concerts, and summer day camps.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just returned to Pittsburgh, had a very enjoyable time at the cottage. Except for some drizzle on Wed. the weather cooperated. We really got to know the Laurel Hill Park, didn't fish as much as I hoped but did some biking and the trails were great, especially the Hemlock Trail--amazing.

Wonderful Girls Weekend

  • 5 of 5

5 of my best girls friends and I stayed for a weekend getaway. The cottage was very nice and clean. Great outdoor fire put area for relaxing around the fire! We would definitely go back!

Family Around the Table and Fire

  • 5 of 5

With an awesome layout and wonderful kitchen, Dave's cottage gave us everything we needed! From preparing tasty grub to sipping stellar wine by the fire pit, we ALL left with loving memories and lingering gut-busting laughs. Great location to everything and our dog loved cruising around on the deck and sniffing the property!

Girls weekend

  • 4 of 5

We rented the house for a girls weekend. The house is in a very nice setting, away from the road but not too far away. The house is very homey, fells comfortable and has plenty of space, It is also decorated nicely. The main bathroom is surprisingly spacious. There is a nice fire pit in the back and lots of deck space. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay at this house again.

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have rented many cabins and this cabin was one of the best. Very clean and comfortable I really cant say enough about how wonderful this cabin was. We went to Ligonier Days and spent time hiking and visiting family. My only suggestion would be that there needs to be baking dishes for the oven there's plenty of pots and pans but nothing to bake with. We are already planning a return visit.
