We just finished a two-week stay at This home. This is the second time we rented here for two weeks. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner is very attentive to all details and any concerns you may have as a renter. The house is clean, bright and comfortable. There are many activities available within the area. We enjoyed swimming, walking the beach, biking, fishing, and observing dolphins and various birds from the dock. In addition, we took in several area attractions. It exceeded our expectations once again.
Just left Nettles Island and we already miss the accommodations and activities that were available for us during our two week vacation there. The owner is very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. The house was comfortable, well-maintained and in a great location the water. We enjoyed swimming in pools, walking on the beach, biking and exploring the area. We found restaurants with good food and met many nice people. Our stay exceeded our expectations.
We had a wonderful stay during our time at Pelican. The owner was very helpful in answering any questions we had about our stay. The dock was especially nice for my husband who enjoys fishing and was able to catch several varieties of fish. The property was clean and well-maintained. We also enjoyed going across the street to Shuckers for a nice dinner. There are several restaurants very close by. Look forward to our next visit.
I think we are the first renters for this very nice one bedroom home. Location is on Nettles Island, a man made area connected to South Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach, FL. Nettles is a densly packed area with a mix of mobile homes, manufactured homes and RV lots. It has a very active snow bird community, a store, 2 resturants, beauty parlor and a so-so internet service called Cloud-Net. (more about that later). Pelican House is less than a year old and comes completely furnished. The bathroom has a roomy shower <no tub>, and the queen size bed can just be called ok, it was a little too soft for our taste. The kitched is nicely laid out for cooking, fully stocked and the owner even left some frozen food and bottles of wine to get us started. There is a very nice entertainment system with cable TV, but no Internet. We stayed for 10 weeks, and started out with the local internet service, "Cloud net" their coverage is spottyand rates about the same as the local cable provider. Talk to the owner and go with cable, Cloud Net was slow, dropped often and we finally had to pay an extra $90 deposit on a dedicated repeater to get tolerable service. A month later we are still waiting for a return of our deposit. But on to the good parts; there is a very nice dock available for sitting/sunning or even fishing, although my best catch was only 2 channel cats. :-) but snook and redfish are in the mangroves just 200 yards away. There is great wildlife watching from the dock; often porpoise, once a manatee, many ospray, terns and lots of pelicansand cormorants. The evening is very enjoyable with an alpenglow effect from the high rise resorts on the other side of A1A, and there is a nice little bistro table on the porch that we really enjoyed using for breakfast. Sunrise over the Atlantic is beautiful. The owner loaned us a bicycle for getting around the island, there are two guest pools, one with Atlantic Ocean access to a great beach with lots of shells to pick, and one at the main clubhouse which is a hub of the social life at Nettles.. The owner was responsive to any questions, any maintenance needed was done promptly and the VRBO ad is truthful and complete. It is suitable for a couple for long term, but not setup for wheel chair or walker confined renters because of the small clearance in the bathroom. We had a great time, and can recommend it.
