The Coral Cottage, aptly named for its beachy exterior color, sits a stone's throw from the riverbank. The Potomac River, which is 4 miles wide at this location, can be viewed inside through large windows or outside from the front porch or from double chairs at the river's edge. Hardwood floors and tasteful decor throughout the cottage please the eye, enhanced by the natural light from the many windows. There are two sitting areas in the front room -- one with a comfy couch and flat-screen TV for movie viewing and the other with chairs for reading and chatting. The kitchen is open to the front room with a sitting bar between. There is a tall table with two chairs in the kitchen as well. The bathroom with tub/shower and private bedroom can be screened from the front of the house. Through the back door in the kitchen, there is a covered porch.

During your relaxing stay at our cottage, wake up to sunrise over the river and then enjoy your morning coffee on the front porch as you watch ospreys, eagles and cormorants fish for their breakfast. Then hop on a bike* and take an easy, scenic 3-mile ride along the river and bayside. Or jump in your rented golf cart to tool into town to a quaint shop or family-run restaurant -- no chain stores here! A 10-minute walk or a 2-minute bike ride will bring you into town to the public beach, town fishing pier, visitor's center, marina or museum. Nearby wineries, historic sites and parks provide opportunities for other daytime activities. Nighttime activities range from star-gazing and boardwalk strolling to beer sampling with live music at two in-town breweries, tiki bar hopping and casino gambling at The Riverboat.

Perfect getaway spot

Clean, cozy, quiet and quaint. Such a cute cottage. Great little friendly town. We had a great time. Used a golf cart for transportation. We loved it.

Beautiful cottage

We absolutely loved our long weekend at this beautiful cottage. It is clean and absolutely gorgeous inside - perfect for 2 people. The location is excellent - close enough to access everything with a golf cart and yet also a very quiet location as it is kind of at the "end" of the whole colonial beach waterfront location - if that makes sense. We were slightly disappointed to find out all of the docks in the images were private and not accessible but that didn't hamper our stay at all! Would definitely suggest adding to the listing that if you want to rent a golf cart you need to reserve one ahead of the time or you will likely not be able to rent one as none will be available. We also noticed the 2 large burners on the stove do not work, but it wasn't a big deal. The owner is very nice and is very accessible if you need anything. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better place to rent and will most definitely be renting this cottage again. Thank you so much! (Oh- and bring bug spray! mosquitos are crazy out there)

Nice getaway place

Nice cottage on the river. Loved staying here, very friendly neighborhood. House was perfect and just as described. Close to a lot of history and really loved Westmoreland State Park.

My wife and I have spent the last 3 decades getting to know Colonial Beach and growing to love its slower pace and unique charm. Although we have experience with rentals through our work, The Coral Cottage is our first vacation rental home.

Why they chose this property

In 2011, we worked to restore this small cottage, attempting to keep its best features and at the same time opening up its interior by removing some walls and expanding its exterior views and natural light by replacing smaller windows with larger ones.
