This beautiful studio apartment evokes a bygone era. Located on a classic, tree-lined residential townhouse block in the historic Hamilton Heights neighborhood of West Harlem.
The space combines modern touches with turn of the century details. Eclectic modern furnishings complement the salon style presentation of the owner's private art collection. 2 large windows face onto the tree tops above the street. All of the original Victorian woodwork from the late 19th century, including fabulous built-in window shutters, the original cabinetry, strip floors and a decorative fireplace mantel, have been restored.
A large closet, as well as separate built-in cabinets and drawers provide generous storage. Full size comfy bed sleeps two. Bed linens and towels are provided for your stay.
Peek-a-boo kitchenette is fully equipped with new appliances and lots of great kitchen equipment: coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender, and cookware. If you find that you are missing something, please ask and i will try to accommodate your request.
Newly renovated European style shared bathroom with skylight and old fashioned claw foot tub is just 2 feet away from your apartment. Please note that this bathroom is shared with the 1 other apartment on the floor.
Wifi and all utilities (heat, hot water, electricity) are included in the price. There is no television.
This apartment is located on the 3rd floor (2 flights up) of the building.
The apartment was just what I needed; great space, great location, very friendly neighbors in the building. This place had a character that made me feel at peace and at home.
The owner was a pleasure to deal with and was easy to get a hold of during the stay.

This area was the former country estate of Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States. It also contains the famous neighborhood known as Sugar Hill.
There are many historical and cultural attractions and sights in the area. Including Hamilton Grange, the Morris-Jumel mansion and blocks filled with beautifully preserved, late 19th century architecture.
Nearby parks include St Nicholas Park, Riverside Park (1 block away), and RIverbank State Park, which has its own gym, olympic size pool and track.
There is a conveniently located grocery store 1 block away on Broadway/150th. And the much loved NYC supermarket, the Fairway, is on 133rd/12th ave, about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. Here you will find a huge selection of all types of food including imported, specialty and organic.
Harlem Public, a neighborhood favorite for great pub food and atmosphere is just around the corner.
The Chipped Cup Cafe (coffee/pastries) is also less than one block away and has a lovely NYC style garden in the back.

Public transportation is plentiful with the 1/A/B/C/D subway lines at 145th street (the A/D are express trains) and buses on both Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues. The nearest A,B,C,D train entrance is on St. Nicholas Avenue between 148th and 147th streets. It is just 2 express (A,D) stops away to get to Columbus Circle/lower Central Park (12-15 min), 3 stops to Times Square (15-18 min) and 5 stops to Chelsea/Greenwich Village (20-22 min).
