Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

The lake views are beautiful! The lake itself is so clean and quite, except for the loon calls, morning and night, beautiful. We brought some kayaks, and we were the only ones out there. The house is comfortable for the most part, but I wouldn't say it actually sleeps 8. We were told of a downstairs room, and there is one, but it's damp and mildewy. We didn't need it in the end, so that was good. The bunk beds are very solid, and there isn't a ladder to get to the top bunk, or a rail on the top bunk. There is a risk of bumping your head if sleeping on the bottom bunk, especially if you are an adult. The room was dusty. The other beds are doubles, except for the master bedroom, that is a queen size. It also has an onsuit. The bed downstairs is not very comfortable for two people. The hall light upstairs didn't work, and the ceiling fan in one of the upstairs bedrooms didn't work unless the overhead light was turned on, therefore not being able to run it while sleeping. The outside furniture was dirty, and the cushions had to be located when we arrived. I had to wipe down all the chairs and sweep the decks/patios and make it comfortable. The hammock was missing an S hook, so we found a rope and rigged it so it would work. The seating around the fire pit, down by the water, is nonfunctional. There are two ways to access the lake, a set of rickety stairs that are not recommended, and a sort of narrow ramp, that is about 10 feet long, no dock set up. It's fairly steep from the house to the lake, and the stairs down the side of the yard has some spikes sticking up from the sides to be watching out for. Overall, the house was not as clean as I would hope for. Sheets were clean, toilets and showers, but I had to wash a stained coffee pot and a greasy pan was left in the draining rack. The freezer door kept popping open, and we had to put duct tape on it to keep it closed. You might also want to consider bringing laundry detergent, soap and a roll or two of toilet paper, supplies were low. The clothes dryer is old, and takes some watching after. The screen on one of the doors was duct taped in and evetually came apart, while the other screen door started to slam shut. Yes, there are imperfections, and for the money, you'd expect these things could be addressed with little intervention and time. We had a marvelous vacation with friends!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your 4 star review and for your thoughtful feedback. We want our guest to love this special place as much as we have for 3 generations. I am taking to heart all of your points and so wish you would have called us through the week to remedy anything little thing to make your stay a 5 Star Stay..... We were not far away and would happily meet your needs, and I would have been pleased to meet you. I was disappointed that you overlooked the no pet policy as I had calls from neighbors down the lake about your dog running loose. I love dogs too, but we just put new rugs, hardwood floors and new mattresses. Thank you again for your 4 star review and detailed notes. Sincerely, Marie and Dell
