This recently constructed, and beautifully furnished end unit is in the premier secure gated community of Barrier Dunes, You'll feel special from the moment you arrive!
Mature landscaping with palm tree, boardwalks, stocked fishing ponds, tennis courts, and 2 outdoor pools will affirm you've made the best selection on the cape. But that's just the beginning! Stroll a few hundred feet and cross over the stunning 20' high sand dunes to the sugary white sand beach fronting the Gulf of Mexico.
One look and you'll know why 'Dr. Beach' declared it America's #1 beach. At first glance, be amazed at the splendid serenity, then look for the dolphins jumping in the surf, and come again and again for the magnificent sunsets over the sparkling water.
This isn't the overdeveloped crush and hurried pace of Central and South Florida. It is THE antidote to the busy lives we as Americans are consumed with. Whether alone, with a best friend, or your family; this is the place to reconnect with nature and each other.
Opportunities of a simple kind abound: shelling, walks along the beach and playing in the surf, fishing from the shore and the ponds, a round of tennis, splashing in the pool, grillling the local seafood on the deck, riding bikes on the quiet streets of Barrier Dunes, and adjacent St. Joseph Beach State Park while observing abundant wildlife. What'll it be for you? I feel more relaxed just telling you about it! Better still, all this is yours without getting back in your car.
OK, so your curious about the rest of the area. Go explore. There's shopping, galleries, restaurants, and more stretching from Mexico Beach through Port St. Joe past Eastpoint and St. George Island to Appalachicola with it's historic homes to Carrabelle. All within an hour drive. Slightly further and you can take a guided a boat trip at Wakulla Springs and see an incredible amount and variety of birds and my favorite, the alligators.
I've had the good fortune to travel in over 30 countries and have been visiting Florida for as many years. However, when my wife brought me to Barrier Dunes on Cape San Blas, I knew we'd found something special. Six weeks later we closed on our townhome and now we have the pleasure of extending a welcome to you to come and share this piece of paradise. Hope to hear from you soon!
I am a retired art teacher from the Chicago area. Our family loves the beach at Cape San Blas. Our place is beautifully decorated. We are an end unit, which let's more light in, and is more spacious. We have a new refrigerator, gas grill, and air conditioning unit purchased in the last year. We also just upgraded 2 flat screen TV's. We are located right near, 30 seconds, to the pool and tennis courts. It is a 90 second walk over the boardwalks to the beach. We appreciate the fact that we can leave our chairs and umbrella up all week at the beach and not carry them back and forth Our deck has morning sun. We love to bike and hike in the St. Joe Peninsula State Park. We love to eat the great seafood in the nearby restaurants.
Chris purchased this townhome in 2004
We purchased our townhome in 2004 from an NFL football player. We love the uncrowded, sugary white sand beaches of the Florida panhandle. We enjoy the great fishing eating, shelling, biking, and relaxing at the gated community of Barrier Dunes
We love the small town of Port St. Joe. We shuck our own oysters that we purchase by the pound. We enjoy the most beautiful sunsets over the water. We also enjoy the shopping and great restaurants in historic Appalaciocola, the 2nd oldest city in Florida, only 30 minutes away. Also, we never miss a dinner at the Indian Pass Raw Bar during our visits. We take part in the several local activities whenever we can.
Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know what a great time we had at the condo. It was absolutely perfect for us. We really enjoyed everything from the pools, beach, sunsets and the wonderful atmosphere and people at Barrier Dunes. What a great vacation spot you have! We will definitely be planning a return trip next spring! Thanks again! Dave
We frequent the Cape and have stayed in many places. Since we were bringing our dogs this time, we decided to stay here, and we didn't regret it! The place was clean and adequately equipped for our stay. I would definitely recommend it and will likely select it again in the future!
Our family, including our 4-legged furry child, enjoyed our week at Cape San Blas! We had a very restful and fun vacation. Chris and Tom's condo was the perfect size for the 5 of us (2 adults, 2 children & one well-behaved dog). We enjoyed the pools at Barrier Dunes as well as the easy walk to the beach. The beach was beautiful and very family and dog-friendly. We also loved finding beautiful shells along the shore and in the shallows. We did discover that you are required to remove your tents/beach umbrellas from the beach each night due to the sea turtles who come onto the beach to dig their nests and lay eggs during the night. There were several turtle nests marked with caution tape there. The condo was very clean and true to our expectations from the VRBO description. While there we enjoyed dinner at Cone Heads (right outside the Barrier Dunes community) and at Shipwrecked on the other side of Port St. Joe. We also highly recommend the Trading Post that carries most anything you need (we purchased some food items and t-shirts for souvenirs). Also, you need to stop by Weber's Donut Shop on the Cape for freshly made donuts. But once they sell out, you're out of luck until the next morning. Everyone we encountered on the Cape and in Port St. Joe was very friendly. Overall, we had a great vacation experience. Thank you to Chris and Tom for allowing us to enjoy your home!
We enjoyed our stay at this condo the first week of April 2016. It was very comfortable and clean! Many extras were found in the kitchen which was a plus as we ate in the condo for every meal. The walk to the beach was very short. We were looking to just relax and that is exactly what we received, plenty of relaxing. This was our forth trip to Cape San Blas and our third at Barrier Dunes. We would definitely stay at this condo again in the future! Thank you for sharing your little bit of paradise!
We enjoyed this condo very much.
I do not think I have ever stayed in a condo that was completely supplied as this one.
There were extras of everything, from salt and pepper to dish and laundry detergent and plenty of dishes/pots and pans.
The condo was clean and the owner was super to work with.
We had a short, nice walk to the beach. We were also next door to the State Park where we hiked the Dunes to the beach. We also hiked to the bay and enjoyed seeing all of the creatures in the water!
We had a super time and hope to return soon!!
Thank you again!!!
This is a great little place. We were able to enjoy our vacation and bring the furkids.
The only thing we wish there was, was a hose so we could wash the kiddos off from the day at the beach. After the first day, the dogs were kept inside because it was too much trouble to try to clean them off after the beach.
There were so many activities to do and not enough time. We will be staying for a week or more next time.
We went during scallop season. Going into the bay was such a great experience. Also night time fishing was fun too! We loved Coneheads. Ended up eating there twice during our stay! Als going to the beach within the state park was amazing. The sand was so soft.
Thanks for opening up your vacation home to us. We had so much fun and created everlasting memories.
We stayed here last week and it was absolutely perfect!! The townhouse was very clean and had all the needed extra in the kitchen. The layout is very nice and we loved the private porches each of the rooms have. The beach is only a very short walk and was easy for my 70 year old mother in law to get to the beach. This was our first time in Cape San Blas and it was absolutely wonderful!! We will definitely be visiting again!! --the dogs had a blast too!! :)
Beautiful white sand beach, adjacent to St Joseph Peninsula State Park; 30 miles from Apalachicola, (second oldest city in Florida); 20 minutes from Port St. Joe, FL.
