Location, location, location! After living in the country, when our children left home, we downsized and moved into the city. We fell in love with the charm of our Victorian building and being in downtown Portland where everything is convenient and exciting!
Because we live on the premises, we are committed to providing a wonderful vacation experience for our guests. We honor your privacy, but are available with helpful hints and suggestions.
My wife and I spent 5 nights in Portland and we had such a great time. We stayed in Sue and Barry's wonderful studio apartment, and it couldn't have worked out better. The studio was the right amount of space for us, and the location was ideal. We mapped out several restaurants and activities that we wanted to see prior to our trip, and the location of this rental made for a great home base. We didn't even need to rent a vehicle, as most places on our list were within walking distance. For everything else, we found that Portland's Uber availability was very good.
Sue and Barry are amazing hosts, extremely friendly, and willing to make recommendations based upon what you're looking for on your trip to Portland. Check-in/check-out was very easy. My wife and I are already looking forward to our next trip to Portland. With as much as we were able to see, we're sure that there is even more for a follow-up trip. When we do return, we definitely will plan to book this same property again. Thanks Sue and Barry!
***Additional recommendations for people visiting Portland for the first time:
*I'm not kidding when I say EVERY restaurant we went to was great. We did some research ahead of time and really mapped out where we wanted to eat, and then took some recommendations from Sue and Barry as well. Check out the following: Duckfat, OTTO Pizza, Mi Sen, Portland Lobster Co, Bayside American Cafe. It was my wife's 30th birthday, so we treated ourselves to two upscale restaurants as well - Fore Street, and Emilitsa (both excellent)
*If you enjoy beer, Portland is the place to be. We did the Allagash tour, as well as the Maine Brew Bus tour another day. Both were great.
*We took the Casco Bay Lines ferry over to Peaks Island and had a nice adventure. We enjoy walking, but I'm telling you, rent a golf cart and drive around the island, making walking-stops as you go. Reserve one at Mike's Carts, or if you don't make a reservation just be one of the first people off the ferry and hustle up to the left.
*Take a trip to Portland Head Light, walk around, and try the blood orange gelato
*Enjoy your trip, and book this property with high confidence!
We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Sue and Barry's little gem. They were most gracious and welcoming when we arrived, quickly filling us in on the local attractions and restaurants. They were quick to reply to any text requesting info about locations of must see places, and personal reviews of local eateries. The apartment was sparkling clean, well furnished, and within a couple of blocks walk to Congress Street, a main connecting street leading to Old Port. Great restaurants within minutes of the room, welcome after a long day of sightseeing. Highly recommended for a single or couple. The dedicated parking spot was an added benefit as parking is at a premium in Portland. We would love to visit again if we are in the Portland area.
This was the perfect place for our three night stay in Portland. Our hosts, Barry and Sue, were most accommodating and the apartment was excellent. We were offered a choice of coffee as well as a few other amenities. The bathroom was perfect, huge rain head shower, great towels, and plenty of light, something that many vacation rentals don't seem to appreciate. The queen sized bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage for clothing, etc. It is also a great location within walking distance of Portland Museum of Art, wonderful restaurants, and night life but also far enough away from the bustle of the city that it was quiet and uncrowded. The parking space was important to us since we drove, but there is also good access to public transportation. We will definitely return.
Fantastic Portland Accommodations. Clean, modern amenities tucked inside historic charm. The perfect location; far enough away from the traditional tourist traffic, yet within (walking distance) blocks of the best local restaurants and coffee bars.
A fantastic location to explore Portland on foot.
Sue & Barry warmly welcomed us to their well-equipped & space efficient studio; we lacked for nothing & enjoyed immensely their gift of goodies including coffee. It is a great location with the bonus of a parking spot, no easy feat to find in Portland. We highly recommend staying with them.
My husband and I had such a wonderful time staying here for our anniversary. It was just the size that we needed, modern, and SO CONVENIENT. In a city where parking can be a general nightmare, this place is in walking distance to all of Portland. It's in a safe neighborhood, so we parked our car and forgot about it our whole stay.
Sue and her husband were so hospitable. We arrived to a wonderful gift basket of Maine goods, and they both came down to give us great suggestions of things to do. They were readily available whenever we needed anything or had questions. I definitely know where I will be staying next time I'll be in town!
YMCA is 1 block away and guest passes are available for $12.
There are many Yoga classes nearby with drop in's available.
