I am a Hungarian-Canadian - we purchased this flat so that our family has a home-base when we visit Budapest a few times each year. As this is our home away from home, you will find that the apartment is equipped to a much higher standard than vacation rentals.
Allie purchased this apartment in 2004
The apartment is ideally situated downtown, a short walk to all the main attractions and amenities, and features underground parking (subject to availability). We purchased the flat newly-built to a very high standard, giving us the peace of mind that we will not be spending our visits dealing with 'old building problems'.
Taking a short stroll to the Central Market, built by Eiffel, to pick up the finest ingredients for an amazing dinner, or visiting one of the many popular pubs and restaurants on Raday street nearby.
We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying at your apartment and we also thank for the lovely sparkling. Barbi was very nice too. What a fantastic location, all of my friends and family who visited us simply loved it!!! You couldn`t ask for a better location!!
We will definitely come back and happily recommend it to other people.
This beautiful apartment, where we stayed for 12 days, is superb: spotlessly clean, very comfortably furnished, endless hot water in the shower, comfortable beds, fully and thoughtfully equipped kitchen, washing machine, good supply of holiday-type novels to read and, to top it off, a superb location.
The apartment is a four-minute walk to the amazing Central Market Hall, where we were able to buy wonderfully fresh vegetables and fruit, as well as a variety of cheeses and meats. We visited in December while the market was charmingly decorated for Christmas. There’s a lovely restaurant on the second floor that serves traditional Hungarian food. A four-minute walk from the apartment takes you to a metro station, the tramway and buses. Five minutes walk from the apartment is the Liberty Bridge, providing an inspiring walk across the Danube, and three more minutes to the lovely Gellert Baths. And don’t miss Paprika Jancsi, a wonderful and inexpensive restaurant just around the corner on Raday Street. We recommend a visit to the State Opera House for the guided tour, Esterhazy torte and coffee at Callas next door, and of course as much time as possible in the thermal spas (especially the outdoor pools at Szechenyi).
But best of all are the owner of the apartment, Allie, and the property manager Barbi. Prior to our arrival, Allie sent us very useful recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants. Recommend you allow Barbi to arrange a taxi to drive you from the airport to the apartment—worked seamlessly. Barbi was at the apartment awaiting our arrival, and showed us where everything was kept and provided invaluable information about buses and the metro (welcome bottle of wine was delicious also). Mid-point in our stay, Barbi cleaned the apartment and returned it to its original immaculate condition. Thank you, Allie and Barbi, for your many contributions to a superb holiday.
The apartment was wonderful. We enjoyed everything about this listing, from the initial contact to the return of keys. Allie was quick with his response to our request to book, provided itinerary details and arranged taxi transportation from the train station. Additionally, manager Barbi, was a delight. She too helped us with our trip details once on-site and was waiting for us at the front door upon our arrival.
The pictures are representative of the apartment. We had more than enough space as a family of 3, and appreciated the layout (as we could close the door off the bedrooms/bathroom to separate the living/dining/kitchen space). The apartment was very clean. Basic kitchen/cleaning supplies were in the cupboards as well as basic cooking needs (salt, pepper, olive, oil, coffee, tea, etc...). Additionally, there were a handful of kid's activities in the cupboard which our 6-year old enjoyed (puzzles, card games, etc...). The apartment is fully stocked with travel maps and Budapest books as well. We found these very handy in making daily exploration plans.
The apartment building was very quiet and we rarely heard any of our neighbors. The location was perfect for us....close to the market, lots of restaurants, Liberty Bridge, etc....
We hope to return another time, especially when we can take advantage of warmer weather and outdoor cafes!
We LOVED this apartment...so much so that I think we'd return to Budapest just so we could stay here! I agree with a previous reviewer...it's the best VRBO we've stayed in, in a city apartment. Many thanks to Barbie and Allie for all they did and all they do!
This apartment is clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. It has many convenient amenities and is in a great location. The subway, restaurants, shops and a huge market are just a few steps away. Communication with Allie was perfect. He always answered questions and gave good advice about the do's and don'ts in Budapest. In addition, Barbie was waiting for us when we arrived and showed us how everything worked. The drivers who picked us up/dropped us off at the train station and the airport were punctual and pleasant.
The only reason why I am giving this apartment four stars is because the air conditioner in our room was out of order and no solution was offered. It got warm in the room a few times. Hopefully, this problem is solved. Despite this issue, I would definitely stay here again. We had a great time in Budapest and this apartment had a lot to do with it!
We had a very nice stay in Budapest. The appartment is great. It is perfectly lokated nearby the liberty bridge and the Vacy ucta (the shopping location in Budapest). The Raday Street with a lot of restaurants is just a few minutes to go (there is also a supermarket). The appartment looks great, is clean, has very nice owners and is well managed by Barbi. She waited for us already in front of the appartment. When you travel by car you will get a secured garage. We can recommend the flat to everybody who'd like to travel to Budapest. The city is great and has a lot of very nice places to photograph. We will return for sure when we travel to Budapest again.
We just returned from Budapest where we stayed for 5 nights in this beautiful apartment.
We could move in permanently there, Allie! The apartment has been renovated with great taste and to North American standards and does not feel like a rental but more like a secondary residence in Budapest. Great kitchen, loved the LED lights. The full bathroom has a very large walk in shower with a nice Grohe shower head. I liked the fact that everything worked perfectly and the space was so clean, bright, airy and well decorated with some antiques and beautiful modern floors and tiles. The location is perfect for walking the city, going to the Market nearby and the Gellert Baths down the street and across the bridge. We could have easily taken the subway or the tram but chose to walk. We took advantage of the transit boats, though, to travel north to Margaret Island. The boats depart from the other side of the bridge and are Northbound or Southbound. It was very easy arranging the rental of this apartment with Allie. Barbie , the manager, met us upon our arrival, standing in the rain in front of the building, to greet us! Allie and Barbie also arranged the taxi ride from and to the airport which was very convenient. Barbie was easily reachable from our cell phone as we had to contact her before our arrival to report our flight delay; Everything has been thought of to facilitate your stay: guide books, transit maps, umbrellas, shopping bags, plenty of paper napkins, toilet paper, dishwasher and washing machine detergent, etc...and a bottle of good Hungarian wine.
Allie provided us with a list of things to do and restaurants to try through an e-mail before our arrival. She is a very well organized and thoughtful owner. This is our 7th rental in Europe through VRBO and so far this has been the best experience! We took a few of the FreeTours Budapest and they were excellent. The Gellert Baths were a very relaxing experience. Pack a pair of flip-flops and a swimming cap if you plan to go. We ate at some of the restaurants on Raday Street around the corner and liked Soul Café. Try the Risotto with duck. we climbed to the Liberation Statue on the Buda side up from the Gellert Hotel and got amazing views of the city from there. We would definitely rent this apartment again on another trip to Budapest as 5 days barely scratched the surface of this city.
Just a 5 minute walk to the Central Market (Nagy Vasar Csarnok) built by Eiffel, and the famous Vaci Utca which is the main tourist walking street full of the best restaurants, cafes, and shopping that Budapest has to offer.
