Why Bob Kemp chose South Lake Tahoe

This property was purchased by my Parents in 1968 as a Vacation/Retirement home. They loved this place, as it was their little getaway from the pressures and stresses of everyday life, living and working in the Greater Bay Area. San Jose in particular. When my Parents passed away a few years back, the Cabin became ours. I vowed to keep this cabin in the family for future generations to enjoy as a rememberance of Bob and Shirley Kemp, my Mom and Dad.

So relaxing & very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Came to Lake Tahoe for a 2 night show to see Eric Church at Harvey's picked this cabin to stay at. It was perfect, everything we needed & only 2 miles from the show. Beds were so comfortable, loved the house. Perfect for all our needs. The beach was very close by as well. Walking distance. Thank you Bob for letting us enjoy you house.

Great cabin

  • 4 of 5

Quite neighborhood. Cabin good enough for my two kids, and me. I was just a little upset for pet's smell. I don't like pets. But I understand people like them. I recommend it.

Rustic but family-friendly

  • 4 of 5

Cool neighborhood, nice to have the bikes even though they're not in great condition. A bit of a cigarette smoke smell inside, but the house was tidy and homey. Great location for kids, fenced yard and a house you can feel comfortable letting them play in.

Adorable and in nice, quiet neighborhood within walking distance of beach and marsh.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood is super cute and quiet but within walking distance of the beach and also the Upper Truckee Marsh. Lots of fun bird- watching opportunities and the squirrels are always entertaining.

Near lots of great places to eat if you don't feel like taking advantage of the barbeque. Also close to boat rentals.

This place is cute and clean and exactly what we needed. Great private backyard.

We hope to stay here again!

Great location

  • 2 of 5

Let me start off by saying the property is in a great location, close to everything, the neighborhood is very quiet. If you were traveling with dogs, this would prob be a great rental. I was traveling with a small child, so I rented this based on the fact that it was a single story home. I would assume it is hard to find rentals that allow dogs....

A few of the things that I didn't like about the property which would prevent me from ever renting it again, unless I traveled with my dog...1. Huge stains all over the carpet. Large circular stains, I am assuming are from dog accidents. It felt dirty, let alone knowing my child was scooting over them.2. It smelled like cigarette smoke. Someone checked out the day we arrived, and the sheets smelled of cigarettes. To the point, I would wake up in the middle of the night smelling them. It was horrible. So maybe it was from the people just checking out, or maybe they didn't clean the place that well 3. The Wi-Fi basically didn't work the entire time we were there, the cable tv never worked either. 4. There is NO bath tub, only a small shower. 5. The water was scalding hot. High enough to be considered a liability issue. You could see heavy steam come off when doing dishes. Once it burned my son trying to wash his hands, the other time the temp changed while my husband was in that coffin sized shower. 6. No dishwasher.

The owner was great getting back to me initially but when I emailed him concerned about all the stains on the carpet through out the house and the cigarette smoke and the cable not working all of the sudden he was no where to be found. I even texted the contact person, never heard back either. I was concerned about not wanting to be charged for the prior damage, and being able to use Wi-Fi since we were there an entire week, so it's not like I was asking for a credit or anything.

Overall location is great but the property itself was huge a disappointment. It would actually deter me from even using vrbo again... I later realized there was a much better selection on a similar website.
