I lived and owned in the neighborhood for over 7 years, I had a short commute to work and enjoyed all of the benefits of a large city but still had the charm of a small suburb.
The Owner purchased this house in 2007
When I left the area for a new job I didn't want to give up the city life. I enjoy coming back dining in the same restaurants and seeing the shows and museums in the area.
When I stay at the property it is my home away from home with all the amenities I enjoy. When I stay at other places I find myself comparing my place to where I am staying...I realize my house might not be your house but a comfortable bed, clean linens, an inviting neighborhood, kids that are happy is what I strive for, I enjoy coming back to the area and settling in for a moment in time to enjoy my family and relax.
I wanted to thank you sincerely for all your info and quick responses in the past month. The house was perfect for our stay. I can't believe we managed to get all 3 kids to sleep in the same room. There are so many things we loved about the house: the beds were so cozy, the hardwood floor was beautiful, towels were super soft, the updating of the house was done so tastefully (esp loved the kitchen backsplash), the movie selection was fun and extensive. The house was a perfect location for us. We went to a Children's Museum in Shawnee, went to the plaza several times, went to Crowne Center and Kaleidescope and Fritz's, and Rosedale BBQ was awesome! I wanted to offer some simple suggestions to improve a couple of things for future guests. It would be nice to have a small stool in the bathroom so the kids could reach the sink easier and more independently. The step to the front porch is a bit high for kids, older folks or people with mobility issues. It might be nice to add a small step.
Thank you again and Happy Holidays!!
This was a clean house and well maintained. Quiet neighborhood, across from a cool old church. Cable tv, wifi, laundry machine, bbq on the back porch. Owner was professional, polite and helpful. I would definitely stay again! If you stay, try Rosedale BBQ, up the street about 3 minutes. Been around since the 1930's and was awesome!
My family (two teenagers and my husband) stayed here for 8 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. Everything about our stay was great -- the house had everything we needed and was a comfortable home base for all our activities. The neighborhood has a working class feel, but it's perfectly safe and quiet. The house itself is surprisingly spacious! Beds are very comfortable, and all the linens and blankets are very nice. Everything in the house was well-maintained and clean. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and cookware. The owner was super responsive to our questions, answering emails within hours. We did not have time to check out Rosewood BBQ, which is just up the block, but we did enjoy Elwood's Diner, which is a short walk away--inexpensive and delicious diner food! We would definitely stay here again--thanks for a great stay!
This is our second time staying here for our women's retreat. It's super convenient. The table is perfect for eating and for playing cards. The beds are comfortable. We'll stay again.
Had a girls weekend and enjoyed staying in this cute little house. This was our 2nd time staying here. Owners are very friendly and easy to work with. House is centrally located.
We really enjoyed this sweet house in a quiet neighborhood. The location cannot be beat. Our dogs loved the yard, and the owner was responsive to any questions or issues we had. There was a lot of debris in the front yard from the trees, and that was really the only take away. Homey and cute place!
The house was clean, and we were close to everything! I was impressed by the pull-out couch, which didn't require pulling out any cushions or rearrangement....you just pull up on the back and, voila! It may seem like a minor convenience, but I have an affinity for 'nifty.'
I would have absolutely no complaints with the place, and given it 5-stars in a heartbeat....were it not so close to the train yard. The wife and I had difficulty sleeping because about every hour or so, a locomotive would come blasting through less than a quarter mile away from us. We brought a couple extra fans, but they weren't enough to drown out the disturbance.
If you grew up with trains and/or are used to them, then you shouldn't have an issue. Otherwise, be sure you have a good noisemaker solution.
