About Michael White

This home is owned by Steve and Henrietta Holbrooks. We are native North Carolinians and have always held a deep love and appreciation for the Blue Ridge Mountains. We've hiked many of the area trails and never missed a chance to tour the Blue Ridge Parkway. We've had great times camping there with our children and other families, sharing adventures and making memories. Now, as 'empty nesters', we've taken up kayaking, traveling, and gaining an appreciation of the culture & history of the NC Mountains. We stayed in Knob View for the first time in August 2013 and fell in love with the home immediately. The long range views along with its serenity and tranquility were so unique. We also have friends who stayed with us who, after experiencing the area, purchased land and built a vacation home nearby (VRBO #865183).

Why Michael White chose Asheville Area

Asheville has always been one of our favorite destinations. The area offers something for everyone. There's a vibrant arts culture with artisans and performers that bring the downtown to life after dark. It has beautiful architecture, fabulous shops, restaurants, and a booming craft beer industry. For those who prefer smaller towns, Black Mountain and Weaverville are popular destinations nearby. There's the Biltmore House, Gardens, and Winery which are a must see. Those who enjoy watersports will find a canoe/kayak outfitter just 20 minutes away on the French Broad River. And of course, the natural beauty that surrounds you explains why The Blue Ridge Parkway has been the most visited 'park' in the US every year since 1949.

What makes this house unique

Knob View Retreat offers the perfect retreat following a day exploring the Asheville area. It's only 15 minutes from downtown but seems 'worlds away'. We enjoy the privacy and quiet, you can hear the birds chirping, the squirrels rustling through the leaves, and the wind blow. At dusk the sunsets over the mountain range are to die for. At night the crickets will sing you to sleep. And of course there are mountain views everywhere you look! Ahhhhh

We had a fantastic time staying at Knob View Retreat!

The house was so clean and well maintained!

We were within driving distance of all the things we wanted to see and do! The fully equipped kitchen and gas grill allowed us to make delicious meals easily.

The views were magnificent! It was probably the cleanest place I have ever stayed while on vacation I truly felt relaxed! We had a great time!

We enjoyed our stay at Nob View Retreat! The view was incredible!

This property was beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning and the hot tub each night. The daily visits from Banjo and Bonzai, the neighbor's dogs, made it feel like home. It was exactly what I hoped for when I booked it.

Absolutely stunning.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Asheville for three days. The property ID 377300vb could not have been any better. The views were stunning. The home was beautiful. The location in the mountains was amazing. The physical layout and decor were perfect for our needs. We were two couples who each had, what turned out to be, our own suite. Riding up the hill to get to the house was an adventure that set us up for what was to come. We couldn't have asked for more.

The property was even better than described. It was clean and well maintained. Everything you would need was there, including a dishwasher and washer/dryer. The owner even left a really nice bottle of wine for us. The locationoin the mountain was just right after a day of exploring Asheville and the Biltmore estate.

Thank you for a wonderful three days.

Marty & Trisha
