As featured in Dwell Magazine: a mix of modern architecture and old-world charm makes this 1820 manor home an inspired destination. Sited at the edge of a pristine Catskills creek, which laps against the farmhouse like an ancient moat, the home’s grand spaces, dramatic details, and expansive aura are as enchanting as the landscape surrounding it. An enormous kitchen features polished concrete floors, a wood-fired pizza oven, and a two-story wall of glass framing views of the brook, gazebo, apple trees, and barn. French doors lead to an expansive covered porch, suspended over the water’s edge, and the waterfall’s cascading rhythms fill the great room and master suite. Original cast-iron beds and wavy glass windows adorn all sleeping quarters, and vintage farmhouse furnishings abound throughout. Restaurants, farmers markets, river rafting, and concerts are all a country mile away. But the Floating Farmhouse is likely where you'll want to be.
Personal chef services and yoga class instruction can also be arranged at the Floating Farmhouse. Perfect team building retreat
I organized a retreat and strategy session for my team and opted for the peace and beauty of the Catskills. When I found Floating Farmhouse, it was a dream come true—gorgeous design that made our time there extra special, huge kitchen that we used to make delicious artisan pizzas, and finally, great responsive communication from Tom, the owner, who made planning easy. Thank you again Tom, and we will be back!
Lived up to every expectation!
Myself and a handful of my friends had one of the best weekends of the year celebrating an early christmas at the floating farmhouse. From making homemade pizzas in the wood burning oven to lounging in front of the fire, we really couldn't have asked for anything more. The entire vibe of the house is very "make yourself at home" which made it incredibly comfortable and easy to enjoy. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a country escape.
Wow. Just Wow.
We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary... And we couldn't have found somewhere more special. The Floating Farmhouse was the perfect backdrop for an occasion my entire extended family will remember for a lifetime.
The house is beautifully designed - when you construct your dream house in your mind, you can find it in reality here. Every single detail in the house has been thought through, and it was incredibly practical and comfortable while simultaneously awe-inducing in its beauty.
Tom, the owner, was helpful at every stage of contact, and information is clear throughout the house, so when you are there you can just relax and feel that it is your own. In fact that leads to me my only criticism, which was that I had to leave.
It's an amazing house. Book it. You'll leave with an experience you'll never forget. And a new life goal to reach for.
Relaxing country oasis
Tom created the perfect environment to unwind and make pizzas. Such a beautiful and inspirational home!
Perfect and stunning location for a wedding!
My husband and I got married at the Floating Farmhouse last weekend and the venue was pure magic. Tom was great to work with and very thorough and available to answer any questions. He clearly has put a lot of hard work and love into the property and every detail shines through. We had our ceremony in the newly renovated barn which was intimate and looked out onto the property. Even though we were going through a cold snap that weekend, the weather didn't dampen how gorgeous the grounds are. Our guests were stunned by the house and also picturesque setting. We both can't wait to come back and celebrate a future anniversary here!
An-out-of-this world experience!
I have rented houses through home away for over seven years and this is the very first time I give a five star review. The floating Farmhouse is absolutely stunning and the first property I've visited that actually looks better in person than in pictures. Being present in this space connects you to all of your senses. It is a true feat that radiates peace, beauty, joy and good taste all around. Not only is the house equip with all you need to want to stay inside forever, but the outdoors is replete with nature, the pond, different stations: hammock, picnic table, gazebo, you name it. Lastly, Tom, the owner, is the most responsive and and caring person one may hope for in a property owner. Simply put, this house is heaven on earth.
The Floating Farmhouse, located in the heart of the Catskills, is just outside the historic hamlet of Narrowsburg, NY. This postcard-perfect little town, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the Delaware River, offers antique shops, art galleries, SOHO-style stores, a coffee house, and elegant Al fresco dining along the banks of the river. Also nearby is Skinner’s Falls, where you can swim, canoe, go inner tubing, or just sun on the rocks and read the Sunday Times as the pristine waters gurgle all around you. Closer to home is Lake Superior State Park, which features a swimming area, sand beach, picnic areas with grills, and rowboat and paddle boat rentals. The Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts, a 15-minute drive, features artists from Dave Matthews to The Moody Blues. Hiking, golf, horseback riding, and skiing are all within 30 minutes.
