A very romantic space! The perfect atmosphere for the writer or artist. The large, open great room is inviting for yoga and exercise practice. A former church, this renovation has maintained a peaceful and meditative quality.A good place to make or listen to music. .Small back porch.Pretty bathroom with shower. The kitchen counter was once the counter in the old country store in the village of Lawsonham. The woodwork is beautiful and the high ceilings give one the feeling of freedom .The many windows invite the outside in. Come and rest a while, create, enjoy!
I'm an artist and designer. My brother, who is co-owner has a history in preservation. We both have a life long love of antiques and the stories they tell.
This church was on our great grandfather's property. It was built in the early 1890s and was an Episcopal Church until sometime in the early part of the 20th century. It stood empty for many year and in the 1960s our Mother opened an antique shop in the building. When my brother and I inherited the property we wished to preserve the structure and the history and have done extensive renovations trying to be true to the feeling of peace this structure possesses. Now there is s new addition with a bathroom and a fully functional kitchen. We wish to share this special space.
The property is located on 80+ acres of mostly woodland. There is a pretty stream running through the woods. Wildlife abounds. When we were excavating for the septic system we uncovered some huge stones and built a stone circle near the church. A perfect place for meditation. It honors the memories of our Celtic forbears. The church is at the edge of the village of Lawsonham which was named after our ancestor who came her in the early 1800s. The Redbank Creek runs through it. It is not a very busy place now, although it once was, with hotels, a newspaper and a couple of stores. The counter in the kitchen area of our renovation came from one of the original stores in the village. At the bottom of the hill there is access to a Rail to Trails which is being developed. My brother lives nearby and is available for questions, solving possible problems and to make suggestions!
We had a great experience at the rental. We were traveling for a Pitt football game so we did not have a lot of free time to enjoy the property but the time we spent there was very relaxing and beautiful.
My husband and I (and our dog) took a motorcycle trip to stay at the church. Rimersburg was a perfect destination with miles and miles of scenic, county roads. The house is comfortable, the setting is peaceful and the location is great. It's just a short drive to Clarion, Cook Forest, Brady's Bend and Foxburg. FYI - the Clarion River Brewing Company has good food and beer plus they allow dogs at their outside tables. The owners were wonderful! Mary was quick to respond to email and provide details of the reservation. The co-owner Lynn was really welcoming. She lives close by and even gave us permission to hike with our dog through the trails on the family property. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay.
This Cottage with the bright yellows oranges and blue was a dream come true. If snyone desires rest for a wearied soul and mind - this is a special place. Inside the cottage I found a cozy inviting atmosphere, with comfy couches, high ceilings, soft lighting, modern bathroom, a big comfy bed, and a private back porch, small reading room the whole experience was enchanting. There is also a mini Stonehenge like rock garden a short walk from the cottage. My dog Lucy lived running through the paths near the woods. Deer visited too. Perfect place to reflect, contemplate, or just daydream. Imwill visit again. Thanks Mary.
Mary was very welcoming and helpful. The house was very clean and my stay was great. If you are looking for a unique place away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is a great spot.
My son and I enjoyed our stay and plan to return in the future. We both needed time away from life, my hope was that we would find inner peace in a quiet spot. We stayed a month, my son who has autism, on arrival was having seizures and high anxiety due to an extended period of family turmoil. By the end of our stay, he found his voice again.
A calmness and an eagerness to try new things, all came from our stay at the "Church House Hotel" as Joe has named it!!
Mary and her family were wonderful to both of us. They encouraged us to explore the area and make ourselves at home and we did. The area offers many adventures and the community, all so very warm and welcoming.
If you have the opportunity to visit this magical location, beware because you may not want to leave.
Thanks Mary for the beautiful time and chats that I had with you!!
This place has been a fascination to me ever since I was a little girl. Seeing it renovated and restored to vitality has been a dream come true. I am very nostalgic and have a great appreciation for preserving history. I recently stayed at the church as a guest for my niece's birthday celebration. I was in awe of my surroundings both inside and outside. It is a very serene and peaceful place to visit. I had a wonderful time and intend to stay again. I highly recommend it!
