Hiking! Biking! River rafting! Wilderness Lovers! Off the grid and away from it all near the North Fork of the Flathead River in Polebridge, Montana. The cabin is a wonderful spot for a relaxing vacation whether you want to visit Glacier Park, read, write, fish, raft or kayak. Located near the remote back country Polebridge entrance to Glacier National Park. Cross country ski for miles through the pristine wilderness. Excellent wildlife viewing. Although only 1/4 mile from the historic Polebridge Mercantile and Northern Lights Saloon, the cabin is located at the end of the road by the river in a private location, away from the touristy busy-ness in downtown Polebridge.
From the "North Fork" side of Glacier Park, a less touristy park entrance, visit Bowman, Kintla, Quartz and Logging Lakes or hike on the west side in the wild and pristine Whitefish Range.
The newly refurbished 450 square-foot cabin provides the following:
There is a pitcher pump in the kitchen which provides fresh, delicious water.
Fully stocked kitchen includes full size propane fridge and stove and plenty of storage space.
Living area has a full size couch and two comfy chairs, a coffee table, an excellent wood stove, and plenty of light.
The bedroom area has a full size bed and a dresser.
A small loft has extra sleeping space and extra blankets.
A bathtub is available that drains so that indoor bathing is possible. One can use a solar shower or heat water on the stove and bathe "bird-bath" style :-)
A very cute outhouse is located just outside the cabin.
Beautiful deck and nice deck chairs
One acre in a serene and beautiful meadow where one can view the wildlife and the bald eagles or just sit and read and listen to the roar of the river in the background!
Located only 1/4 mile from the Northern Lights Saloon and Polebridge Mercantile, it's a 5 minute walk but you feel as if you're in another world.
The cabin is located about a mile from the Polebridge ranger station, or entrance to Glacier Park. This backcountry entrance gives visitors access to one of the more beautiful and remote regions of the park, an area called the "North Fork". Visit Bowman or Kintla lakes and hike in some of the more rugged regions. Backpack to Hole in the Wall campground or Boulder Pass and see mountain goats, marmots, and even bears. (The cabin provides bear spray!)
In the year 2000, I bought a brand new Subaru and followed my friend to this small mountain town she was visiting. It turned out to be Polebridge and I spent a week here falling in love with the area. I returned each summer and ended up buying this cabin four years later. The cabin has been a labor of love! It's been completely gutted and refurbished. I can only spend a few months in Glacier each summer as I teach school in California the rest of the year, but the cabin is my favorite place in the world!
Bridget Priest purchased this cabin in 2004
I chose to buy a cabin in Polebridge because I love the surrounding wilderness, and even though it's right in the town, being at the end of the road makes it very quiet and private, the best of both worlds!
Glacier Park base camp!
Double rainbow views in the meadow!
Enjoy one of the cleanest and most pristine river basins in the world!
Excellent cross country skiing
Rafting, kayaking and fishing on the wild and scenic North Fork River.
Just a short walk to the Polebridge Mercantile and Bakery or Northern Lights Saloon where you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee and pastry, and exchange wildlife sightings with the locals.
This cabin is absolutely adorable. Set just back from the river with a short jaunt to the bakery, this cabin offers a peaceful stay with incredible accommodations. Battery operated electricity and pump water keep you conscious of the off grid accommodations while still allowing you to enjoy the ease of switching on a light if need be. This is a wonderful place to be at ease with only the sound of the river in the background.
The cabin is situated in a peaceful and serene meadow a half-acre away from the river. This is a great base camp for all of your fishing, boating, and kayaking river adventures. Also a great place to stay if you want to visit Glacier Park or the Whitefish range where there is plenty of hiking, biking, and other wilderness activities.
Visit beautiful Bowman Lake, rent a canoe, or bike the "Inside Road" just inside the park! More detailed activities will be provided once you book...
