A luxury estate on the top of a hill in Provence with a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea.
When we first started out there was just a centuries old Cabanon surrounded by some old olive and oak trees, but now, thirteen years on, our hidden spot of paradise is finally complete. When we first came to the property, we were amazed by the view it offered of the Bay of La Ciotat, the surrounding valleys and the magnificent deep blue Mediterranean Sea. Such is its reputation with the locals, who named it Bel-Air (Good Air), used to regularly hike up here to have picnics and take in the best views of the region.
Now that it is ready, we want to share this luxury paradise with you.
The main villa has five bedrooms (three bathrooms and three toilets), a Provencal-style kitchen, a large living room with an open fire place and a large dining table. The ground floor offers two grand terraces, both with dining areas; one looking out onto the bay, the other overlooking one of the regions famous vineyards. For those lucky enough to secure the bedrooms on the top floor, your rooms will open up onto a very spacious roof terrace which boasts the best views of the entire villa.
The old Cabanon, that can be found right next to the main villa, has been adapted into a guest house for four, while still keeping all of its original features. It has a picturesque main room, a kitchenette, a bedroom and a bathroom. It can happily fit a small family because the large sofa in the main room folds out into a double bed.
One of the many jewels of Bel-Air Villa, is the infinity pool that overlooks the bay, making you feel as if you’re actually swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. And if somehow floating about in the crystal blue water of the pool gets too much for you, you can retire to the large swinging hammock on the decking for the evening and watch the sun come down, or to the modern sauna with a viewing window that overlooks the bay.
Adjacent to the pool is the ‘Oasis gardens’, an area that has been professional landscaped and contains some of the most exotic plants and trees that attract the most beautiful creatures for you to admire.
Throughout the rest of the property we also have a full size tennis court, so that the Murrays and Djokovics amongst you can test their ability against each other, a boule-court under the shadow of oak trees and a vast wine cellar that even Bacchus, the Roman God of Wine, would be proud of. And like any good ‘Temple to Bacchus’ it is stocked with hand-picked wines from the region’s finest vineyards. Stocking the cellar was the perfect excuse for us to go wine-tasting in the area, and we recommend you do the same. Fortunately, the best vineyard, Chauteau Pibarnon, grows its wine on the land bordering ours, which means you can walk there directly from our gate!
Our paradise is situated on the Pibarnon Hill close to the Cadiere d’Azur village, where you can find local restaurants, a buzzing market with all sorts of local produce and other amenities. Also close by is Bandol, St.Cyr Sur Mer and other famous places like Castellet, Cassis and Sanary.
For golf fans we have dolce Fregate, one of south France’s best golf courses, only ten minutes driving distance from us.
