About Lisa Duke

Atlanta-based small business owner. On the weekends, I love to get away to the lake to unwind.

Lisa Duke purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Lisa Duke chose Centre

Weiss Lake is a hidden gem! Only 90 minutes from the northwest corner of metro Atlanta, it's less crowded than Lanier and Allatoona. Weiss Lake is famous for crappie fishing, but you may also catch bass and catfish - maybe even off our dock!

Our large dock, two decks, and screened-in porch provide ample space to enjoy the outdoors.

What makes this cabin unique

Huge dock with cleats to tie up your boat

Screened in porch

Small deck for grilling and outdoor dining

New additional lower deck with excellent water views

View of the lake from the master bedroom and living room

Fireplace in living room

Wifi - 10mbps

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

I vacationed here with my 20 and 22 year old kids. For the price of a motel room, we had a whole house. The view was beautiful and we had the added bonus of the use of the kayaks and paddle board. I would highly recommend renting this house. Lisa was quick in answering any questions I had and her house was clean and had everything we needed.

Wonderful Getaway Weekend!!

  • 5 of 5

Great place to spend our 30th Wedding Anniversary! This cute little Lake House had everything we needed. We will definitely come back maybe in the fall. Our only complaint was the fish weren’t biting :) but the Guides we ran into said they had struggled to catch any this weekend as well. Most likely it was due to the pending sever weather. I guess fish don’t like bad weather either!!! Anyway, very nice place to get away for a few days. We fished, played cards, built a fire! Just a perfect relaxing weekend! Lisa was wonderful to work with and we can’t wait to come back!

Nice relaxing weekend. The best part was sitting on the dock and watching the beautiful sunsets.

Clean and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed the cabin and especially the dock. Cabin was comfortable but shows it's age. Dishwasher would be nice addition.

Lake Getaway

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was perfect for a getaway for two and our furry friend to the lake. Lisa was great to work with on checkin/checkout times and was quick to respond via text about a question we had while we were there. The umbrella had been damaged in a storm so it wasn't on the dock - which made it harder to keep our dog out there with us with no shade. She ordered one on Amazon and offered to reimburse us if we could pick one up locally - unfortunately, we were not able to find one. Lisa recommended Linde Marie's Steakhouse for an anniversary dinner and it was excellent - so that was much appreciated!

The cabin is obviously older and needs some fixing up to make it fully worth the cost per night and cleaning fee. The stairs up to the back deck were rickety and the doors didn't fully close or lock inside the house - most everything else is cosmetic. Some additional cookware (additional pots/pans & cooking utensils) would have been helpful since there is nowhere close by to grab food.

The location however was perfect for us and we really enjoyed the peace & quiet of the area - while being about 20 minutes from Centre for groceries, etc. The dock was perfect for sunset views and fishing - although we didn't catch a thing over 3 1/2 days. We most enjoyed the screened in back porch for relaxing and playing games. Was surprised by how well the wifi worked! Lisa also has a good bit of floats, kayaks and a stand up paddle board for water fun.

All in all, this is a good cabin and location for a few days away.

At the house itself, you can relax on the porch, deck, or large dock and enjoy the views. Perfect for swimming, kakaying, or fishing. If you have a boat, we are just across the lake from a boat ramp. There are also pontoon and jet ski rentals on the lake.

Our waterfront cabin is within driving distance of several hiking and biking trails, including the paved Chief Ladiga Trail, DeSoto State Park, Little River Canyon National Park, and Talledega National Forest.

The burgers at The Gridiron in Centre are delicious and there is an awesome steakhouse (Linde Marie's) in Cave Springs.

There are several 'antique' stores in Centre, but the best shopping is at Unclaimed Baggage, about an hour and a half north.

In Cedartown, you can go skydiving!
