Why owner/property manager chose South Redondo
I particularly love restoring older properties so when we came across the Burnham House & Cottages with all it's historic history it was impelling to want to restore and bring back to life all the workmanship so often found in these older homes....anyway....It certainly is most rewarding now to sit back and have others enjoy what I have re-created. Being so close to the beach is also most delightful and certainly well enjoyed. With my years of running Bed & Breakfast Inns & my enjoyment to meet people from all walks of live it provided to be a perfect marriage. I love that I have a historic landmark that is only 2 blocks to the beach and that I have provided such an enjoyable & peaceful environment for anyone that wants to indulge. There are great spacious grounds with little cottages sprinkled amongst the grounds where you can snuggle up on a big garden wicker chair and read a book, a snooze in the hammock or an evening around the fire-pit snipping fine wine and eating a pork chop.... I love taking a long walk in the morning along the beach and watching the surfers & dolphins mingle & the whales migrating in March/April. ***The sunsets are amazing and truly lovely to enjoy...very relaxing***.

Great host and perfect location
Wendy was a wonderful host and the location was perfect being close to the pier, coffee shop, and pharmacy, plus many other dining options.
Home Sweet Home
I've been coming back here to visit family for a couple years now.
Wendy is such a great host & it really is like coming home. There are several cozy gathering places, a couple fire pits, fresh flowers in your bungalow & throughout the compound, and friendly neighbors.
The compound with 3 houses & the main (Wendy's) home is very unique. Its quaint, quiet, & is open and has a comfortable warm feeling. I hope anyone who is interested in staying in Redondo will appreciate how close it is to the Pier, eating establishments The Strand& all the beach activities that are offered. Plus you have a nice place to come home too when your done. Love you Wendy
The tiny cottage was a hoot to stay in. The place is a vintage beach cottage. The funky doorknobs, the slight smell of gas in the air, the doors that open on their own, the windows that need to be propped open and the clawfoot tub all reeked of an era from 100 years ago. If this is your thing, this is your place. The kitchen had everything we needed to make coffee and oatmeal (we provided the coffee and oatmeal). Whole foods is a simple 4-block walk away. There were bicycles to borrow - but we decided to rent some at Hermosa beach because we weren't positive they would make it to Venice - our destination. If you like walking on the sand when at a beach - be forewarned that there are tar balls - balls of crude petroleum lurking. If you feel some stickiness on the bottom of your foot - you may have picked up a few of these black gooey things. Note: there is baby oil (another petroleum product) in the bathroom with instructions on how to take off the tarballs. We used the olive oil we found in the kitchen because we didn't know about the baby oil in the bathroom. The guest book could have more information about the area and the nasty little surprises you may find at the beach.
Wendy was a good communicator and a lovely hostess. She obviously takes pride in her cottages and only wishes her guests a lovely stay. Be aware though - the surfing instructor lives in what were the former horse stables. I made the mistake of thinking it was the shed where the bikes were kept but instead had a handsome beach boy answer the door. Another little tidbit that could have been mentioned when we checked-in or to be written in the guestbook. Did I say the cottage is tiny? The bedroom barely fit the bed - one side is flush with the wall under a window. Our luggage was kept in the living area and that was our dressing room too. I wouldn't rent this for 4 adults, maybe 2 adults and 2 kids would be okay. There is a futon in the living area.
It is a fun place - a bit cheaper or the same price as the hotels in the area.
This really is a South Bay gem. The place is charming, hosts are wonderful, location is just perfect.
Perfect stay at the beach !
We enjoyed our stay at Wendy’s beach cottage. The location was perfect for all we wanted to do. Wendy made many excellent suggestions of things to do. The cottage was extremely clean and we loved the special touches with fresh flowers and beach art. We appreciated the free parking and we felt very safe in the location... just a few blocks to see amazing sunsets. What a perfect vacation!
Cozy cottage in perfect location
From booking to checkout Wendy was great to work with and we felt right at home .
For guests wishing to rent all 3 cottages for the same dates there is an additional one off $75 charge. As this is a small family run business there is extra work involved when 3 cottages vacate at once, we hope you understand!
