About Dominic & Helena
We moved to Dominican Republic in 2008 in search of a better life. We found it! Arriving from London and speaking little Spanish, it has certainly been an interesting adventure, learning much in the 4 and half years living here. My wife and I met in London 11 years ago at a Brazilian Samba party. Our former professions being a far cry from our current life: myself an Accountant and Helena a Textile Designer. We are happily married with our two wonderful children Safiya and Zaidan, enjoying a very active lifestyle, living in our Caribbean paradise.
Dominic & Helena purchased this Bungalow in 2009
Why Dominic & Helena chose La Iglesia
We chose this property and its location as a kind of dream that had been forming for many years before hand. The combined result of Helena's independent, free-spirited travels throughout latin America (prior to our meeting) plus years of vacationing in this particular part of Dominican Republic. The idea was to choose a place that would enhance our idea of a perfect lifestyle and attract like minded people. Our place embraces the culture, the people and the strong life force itself that is abundant here. We treat our guests as friends visiting and help them every step to experience the wonderful world we live in. In that it enables us to re-experience our wonderful place and the peninsular of Samana again and again through the wonder of other's eyes.
What makes this Bungalow unique
We pride ourselves on being personable and extremely helpful with our guests. Going over and beyond the norm in taking time both before booking and after arrival to ensure our guests have the vacation they've dreamed of. Having learned a lot through keeping a positive attitude and an open mind to how things are here, we are able to impart invaluable and first hand knowledge , that will hopefully leave our guests feeling like they have truly had an unforgettable, real experience of the Dominican Republic. Many people come to us curious as to what we have done, in daring to start a new life in a new country, culture etc... and often leave re-evaluating their own situations. We are fully integrated with the local people and we certainly don't separate ourselves from them which would defeat the whole point of visiting one of the most beautiful and happiest places in the world. If you are curious to have a better understanding of Why .... well, we have a pretty good idea and are more than happy to share this with you.

It is either primitive living or glorified camping. Take your pick!
This is a lovely place for the right people, and the hosts are completely wonderful and accommodating! The best part of the trip was the company of all the animals -- dogs, baby sheep, and baby goat.
I learned the difference between traveling and vacationing. This is a traveling opportunity to live within the community and meet the local people. I'm a vacationer who prefers a condo or hotel room to this adventurous bungalow.
There are many positive qualities to this retreat if you enjoy a more primitive environment. This bungalow is private, and the staff is very polite and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure that we were as comfortable as possible. There was a chef on the premises, who made us a delightful 4 course meal. Breakfast was served promptly at 9:00, and the papaya is the best I've ever had!
My discomfort was with the insects. It started the 2nd day when I cleaned the bathroom and found a 5cm (2 inch) tarantula behind the toilet. I do not like bugs, and the ones there are very large. My husband almost stepped on an 18cm (6 inch and 1/2 inch wide) centipede in the bathroom a couple nights later. Whenever I stepped on the floor or went into the bathroom, I was very aware of looking for insects before I put down my feet.
This property was not what I wanted or expected, and that's why I did not have fun. However, for the right people, this place can be an amazing adventure!
Lots of fun!
We enjoyed our stay at Jurassic Park. Dominic was so helpful and the lovely Helena made us a delicious breakfast. The only scary part was the road leading to the bungalow- we seriously worried about damaging the rental car. Other than that, it’s an experience not to be forgotten.
Beautiful, natural, peaceful
Marcel and I spent 2 nights at Jurassic Park. We were very comfortable and happy there. Very clean. Helena and Dominic helped us connect with fantastic daily activities. They offer a delicious breakfast that was so much more than I expected. This is a place we will love to go back and stay for more days. Thank you for your hospitality!!.
Dschungel und Glühwürmchen
Our stay at Jurassic Park was quite short bit we had a really nice experience. Coming home from Las Terrenas (we have to admit it's a bit far when you don't have a car but you can always take a motoconcho!) we could always relax and chill out in the quiet environment. The pool is great and we enjoyed the Glühwürmchen at night in the jungle like garden. The breakfast was immense!!
Thank you a lot
Great accommodations, great recommendations, wonderful town, friendly employees, cool travelers. Be sure to take a guided tour with Fausto, visit playa coson, and eat at Cavo del Drag. We recommend renting a moto also.
Hidden Gem - Peaceful Oasis
Our stay at Helena and Dominic's Jurrassic park was a beautiful peaceful time. The huts are clean cozy and fun looking. The grounds are lush and well tended. The rabbits hoping around just add to the feel of Eden. The best part though was the thoughtful guidance of the hosts Helena and Dominic. They are happy enthusiastic knowledgable and helpful people who guided me through where I could go what I could do and who to get as a guide etc. One excursion I took with them made my whole trip- a hike through a farm, more like a food forest, eating and talking and learning with our wonderful guide Fausto. Frankly it was unforgettable. Playa Bonita is aptly named as well and Dominic's advice on that was spot on too. And Las Terrrenas is a bustling whirl and really fun. Jurrassic park as I have seen noted in other reviews is not for those who want the creature comforts of big screen TV s ac or a resort feel. It's getting away from all that. It also is not at all beachfront. But it's an exhilirating ride down there and frankly the beach is quite touristy and does not have the real feel of being up in the hills with the regular Dominicans. For authenticity, feeling like you get to see some real Dominican life, and cool, breezy, sunny, not at all buggy climes-(as explained to me by Dominic based on its altitude) Jurrassic park is a great bet!
Jurassic Park is a magical place situated on a small hill, in a tranquil valley, overlooking the ocean and Las Terrenas.
A short stroll behind us we have waterfalls with pools - which are extremely inviting, especially when its hot, great for cooling off and helping to make you feel at peace with the world.
We have semi controlled jungle areas which makes our place unique, we continue to improve and make them a part of the attraction of being here.
There is very little light pollution (no upward facing lights), so you can view the night sky, from our open pool terrace, which are mostly spectacular all year round.
If you have children then this is a natural wonderland providing culture and amazement.
We are close to some of the best beaches in the area like Playa Bonita and Playa Coson.
To top it off we have a trampoline, a horse and many outdoor vehicles which are all very popular with children and uncontrollably happy adults alike.
