Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Andover - The Andover House

House comfortably sleeps 6 & has large yard with firepit, outdoor bar & more

Located just 90 minutes from Boston, in the heart of NH, Andover is a quintessential New England town. It's home to 2 Truss style covered bridges, crystal clear lakes & rivers for boating, fishing, swimming & water sports.

Ride the Northern Rail Trail or SRK Greenway. The Northern Rail Trail, a 56 mile long x 13' wide recreation trail that stretches from Boscowen to Lebanon, passes through Andover with 3 easy access points. This year-round trail is surfaced with a hard packed stone dust, and is open for bicyclists, walkers & runners, horseback riding and non-motorized vehicles in warmer months. Snowmobilers, dog sled teams and cross-country skiiers enjoy it in the winter. The Andover stretch offers some of the most scenic section of the trail with views of majestic Mt. Kearsarge, lakes, mountain streams, a covered bridge, The Potter Place old train depot, and opportunity for moose, deer and other wildlife sightings. Beginner & novice bicyclists can enjoy short trips along the trail's level grade, while experienced riders can take advantage of the full 56+ miles of beautiful off road trail for day tours.

Hikers and mountain bikers enjoy direct access to the Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge Greenway. 75 miles of backwoods trails that connect the peaks of Mount Sunapee, Ragged & Kearsarge Mountains.

Laconia, Weirs Beach, Lake Winnipesaukee are just a short drive away, and easy access to 93 and 89, means day trips to the White Mountains, Seashore, or Vermont can all be part of your vacation itinerary.

NASCAR enthusiasts note that we're less than 30 miles from NH Speedway.

Our home offers a comfortable & affordable place for the whole family, or a group of up to 6 to vacation. It has a living room, family sized dining room, kitchen, first floor master bedroom with a queen bed & attached dressing room, an attic sleep loft that has 2 additional queen beds divided by a center chimney and closet, creating semi-private quarters. A newly added lodge room & open loft with full size bed, futon and sleep sofa create extra space to spread out. The 1 bath has an antique claw foot tub & shower attachment. There's a large yard, front screened porch, 26' x 9' open deck off the back, an outdoor bar, patio with crank out awning, picnic table and fire pit. Beautiful flower gardens across the front and side yards attract hummingbirds and butterflies in the warmer months. Summer vacationers enjoy coffee on the screen porch, games in the yard, and sitting around the campfire and at the outdoor bar in the evening. Winter vacationers appreciate that our home is just minutes to Mount Sunapee and Ragged Mountain resorts. Big mountain skiing is easily accessible as well. Snowmobilers enjoy the Northern Rail Trail and hundreds of miles of groomed trails. Snow shoe trails directly behind the house or on any of the Kearsarge, Sunapee, Ragged Greenway's trails.

Year round vacationers can take advantage of tax free shopping, antiquing, even wine & beer tasting. Festivals, concerts, theater and great dining are all in the area. Enjoy all that NH has to offer!

About Kym Arena

I grew up spending weekends & vacations at The Andover House. It was originally home to my grandfather's family of 8. My husband & I bought it in 1998 and have lovingly restored it so that it can be enjoyed by many more generations. We just completed a 2 yr. renovation that created lots more comfortable & spacious living space to the back of the house and we're ready to open up the doors to vacationers that are looking for an affordable rental, centrally located to all of the great things NH has to offer.

Kym Arena purchased this house in 1998

Why Kym Arena chose Dartmouth - Lake Sunapee

Just 90 minutes from Boston & centrally located to all the great attractions and activities NH has to offer. From hiking, biking, kayaking, & swimming, to skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing there's plenty of outdoor fun. Shopping for antiques & artisan wares, wine tasting and even local theater are all within minutes of the house. White Mountains, Lake Winnepsaukee, Franconia Notch, Quichee Gorge & Woodstock, VT are easy day trips to incorporate in your itinerary. Or just relax on the screen porch, float at the lake in a tube & star gaze at night around the campfire.

What makes this house unique

Minutes to Ragged Mountain & Sunapee Resorts, snowmobile, cross country and snow shoe trails for winter activities. Wonderful NH getaway

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this quaint Andover home. It was roomier than expected, otherwise just as described. Lots of great gathering places and plenty of nice sleeping space. The outdoor space was wonderful as well. We truly enjoyed the fire pit with firewood provided as well as the outdoor bar area for eating and hanging out on a lovely Spring/Summer evening. Fun mountain biking right from the driveway too.

Big, comfortable well-appointed house

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at this property in Andover, NH. It has a ton of beds, way more than our family of 3 needed, so we only used the first floor of the property.

The house doesn't get cell phone reception for our carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile), and doesn't have wifi or a landline, so we were pretty cut off which worked well for our purposes, but could be a problem for some visitors.

Overall we were super happy and would stay here again!

Great fishing !

  • 5 of 5

I love this area! There are trails right in the back of this home you can hike to the nearest local ponds for awesome bass fishing! The trails are maintained by the local Proctor Academy so they are marked and easy to follow ! I'm a lover of running streams - best place to sit and picnic with the family is Walker Brook ! Your kids will love splashing in the little pools of water. If you love the winter, then this is a great place to ice fish too! Would definitely recommend you stay here !

Owner's Response: Thanks Judy. I'm guessing Wayne had some input on the fishing. We added a link to NH fishing guides to our website since there are so many local spots for great fishing.

A Slice of Heaven On Earth!

  • 5 of 5

The minute you pull into the driveway, you are overwhelmed by beauty and calmness. The fall flowers invite your eyes to enjoy their color. As you step out of the car, you see Ragged Mountain in your backyard and Mount Kearsage in your front yard. Continue on in the front porch and in through the front door, the Andover House charms you. It's a house you can relax in with inviting furniture, old fashioned touches. You don't have to "tiptoe around" afraid you are going to break something. The addition of the backroom and upstair bedrooms are awesome! I haven't stayed there in the winter but can't wait to see it then! With the warmth of the gas burning stoves and the glow cast by the canning-jar lights, it's definitely a place I want to rewind after a busy day on the slopes or after snow-skiing!

And the location is great ! Trails to hike right in your backyard to nearby ponds, local lakes in the summer to boat, swim or laze in an oversized tire tube, and only 45 minutes from the Franconia Notch attractions.

Andover itself is a small town but active with fairs, flea markets, bean suppers, and of course the best breakfast place ever "Blackwater Junction"!

I definitely plan on going back year after year !
