About The Owner

Steve and I (Heather) have lived in Duluth for the past 17 and 12 years respectively. We call it home now and have a tough time seeing ourselves living elsewhere. Lake Superior has a draw and we've been mesmerized since moving here. We both love the water and spend a significant amount of our free time surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Both of us have caught a muskie out of our canoe a stone's throw away from our house on Minnesota Point. We've also been able to surf every month of the year! Although I'd recommend a wet suit Fall/Winter/Spring. We love this area and always look forward to coming home when we've gone on vacation.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2001

Why The Owner chose Duluth

Actually the vacation home is Steve's first home. He spent much of his free time repairing/refinishing. It is furnished with antiques handed down in our family that Steve refinished. We were unable to part with it when we moved to our new home less than a mile away so we turned it into a vacation rental home in 2010.

What makes this cottage unique

You'll have direct access to the largest freshwater lake in the WORLD (Lake Baikal in Russia is largest by volume, Lake Superior is largest by surface area)!

You are less than one mile away for the farthest inland port in the world.

You are less than one mile away from one of the largest lift bridges in the United States. There you can view Ocean and Great Lake ships from less than 100 feet as they enter and leave the port.

Minnesota Point is surrounded by water and the Aerial Lift Bridge is the only point of access by land. You are essentially on a island!

Steve lived in this house for several years and knows you have great neighbors!

If you want shopping, coffee, antiques they are less than 1 mile down the road over the Aerial Lift Bridge. You can also make the walk on sandy beach.

PERFECT

This property is perfect! It's clean, it's quiet, it's on the gorgeous beach, it's close to canal park and all the shopping and restaurants! Really what more could you ask for?! (except a personal chef and maid) ;)

The house was very nice, neat and clean!

  • 5 of 5

My family (8 total of us) very much enjoyed staying at this house. It was clean and accomadated us well. The upstairs bedroom facing the lake was so fantastic. And the beach! It was great! Heather was so nice and made sure we could contact her for anything. We were there for 5 days and very sad to leave. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a nice homey place to stay. Thank you again Heather!!

Nice spot for our family

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoy having the child sized room with the age appropriate decor and books. Nice selection of movies for kids as well. With the laundry in basement, we can pack super light. This is our second visit, sure not to be the last. Host very professional and easy to work with.

Fun Stay

We had a great time! The house was well cared for, clean and very comfortable. I didn't realize how close it was to the beach. It was great to take morning strolls and look for rocks! Overall a great stay.

Fun cottage home just off Lake Superior

  • 5 of 5

This home has 4 bedrooms, one for a child. It is so nicely decorated and has a modern full kitchen. There is plenty of room for family style dinners around the large table in the dining room. The house was very clean. The living room has a comfy couch and easy to operate fireplace for cool evenings. There are two full bathrooms and nice quality towels and linens. (Do bring your own shampoo and bath soap). The home is in a neighborhood, so is very quiet too! Enjoy the fun activities and lake so close by! We had lovely lunches at the Duluth Grill, Sara's Table and Toasty's. We had a nice train ride on the North Shore Train and also toured Glensheen Mansion. Heather, the owner was very responsive and even called to let us know we could come early, as we let her know that we were already in Duluth the previous night. This listing was very accurate and I would recommend to all and would stay again!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful girls weekend. The house met all our needs. It is very clean and comfortable, anything we required was already there. Comfortable beds!!

We enjoyed gathering around the dining room table for evening games and morning coffee.

Beautiful location with Lake Superior right over the dune and Canel Park close enough to walk to for shopping and dining.

Heather the owner was so easy to deal with.

It was a great weekend!
