About The Owner

Steve and I (Heather) have lived in Duluth for the past 20 and 15 years respectively. We call it home now and have a tough time seeing ourselves living elsewhere. Lake Superior has a draw and we've been mesmerized since moving here. We both love the water and spend a significant amount of our free time surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Both of us have caught a muskie out of our canoe a stone's throw away from our house on Minnesota Point. We've also been able to surf every month of the year! Although I'd recommend a wet suit Fall/Winter/Spring. We love this area and always look forward to coming home when we've gone on vacation.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2001

Why The Owner chose Duluth

Actually the vacation home is Steve's first home. He spent much of his free time repairing/refinishing. It is furnished with antiques handed down in our family that Steve refinished. We were unable to part with it when we moved to our new home less than a mile away so we turned it into a vacation rental home in 2010.

What makes this cottage unique

You'll have direct access to the largest freshwater lake in the WORLD (Lake Baikal in Russia is largest by volume, Lake Superior is largest by surface area)!

You are less than one mile away for the farthest inland port in the world.

You are less than one mile away from one of the largest lift bridges in the United States. There you can view Ocean and Great Lake ships from less than 100 feet as they enter and leave the port.

Minnesota Point is surrounded by water and the Aerial Lift Bridge is the only point of access by land. You are essentially on a island!

Steve lived in this house for several years and knows you have great neighbors!

If you want shopping, coffee, antiques they are less than 1 mile down the road over the Aerial Lift Bridge. You can also make the walk on sandy beach.

Just the spot for our annual boys trip

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time! We had 6 of us this year for our "boys" trip. The location was perfect for some golf and some time at the beach. It worked out great when we decided to stick around the house as well, especially the upper deck. Many great chats and long nights up there. Six of us fit in here pretty well, might have been a little tricky with more of us.

Loved the house! Would love to stay here again

  • 5 of 5

Great location! Our family enjoyed being so close to the beach but also to Canal Park. The house is beautiful - an appropriate balance of both charm and updates.

Wonderful family visit

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a wonderful week Park Point. Beach House #3 was just as advertised. We actually had some nice days to enjoy the beach which is just through the sand dunes. We have stayed in a number of rental houses and this one was really well maintained and clean. Heather, who is the only person I met, was very nice and open to any suggestions you might have to improve your rental experience. The only downside--other than the first floor bedroom--is that this is an old house and the stairs to get upstairs or downstairs to the basement are pretty steep. It is possible to walk to Canal Park, but it is a good walk. There is no longer a grocery store on Park Point. However, there is a bus stop at the end of the street this house is on. Thank you for a really nice stay.

Loved the location of this property and the accessibility to the beach. Very safe and friendly neighborhood.

Very clean, well equipped kitchen. Like a home from home.

It is a well maintained older property with lots of character. Stairs are steep but manageable to three upper bedrooms and to the basement. Basement has table tennis and foosball. Big hit with younger visitors.

Reunion with friends and a bit of Dylan Fest

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and kitchen equipped with newer appliances. Downstairs master has the shower. Steep narrow steps to three bedrooms upstairs and full bath with antique cast iron tub...no shower. Enjoyed the safe location, with path to the lake and plenty of parking. Lots of space to spread out indoors. We were greeted each morning with a robin on the fence.
