This area of Upstate New York and the Catskill Forest preserve has rolling hills with dairy farms and historic small towns unspoiled by development.
Our house has had only three owners over it's 154 year life and all its original details of woodwork are preserved. The lilacs bloom in spring and all summer different perennials bloom in the garden.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Johan was amazingly kind and gave us tons of tips about the area. He really was the best host and was super helpful with everything. The house is located in a beautiful place surrounded by nature and very near by Andes Town. It is great place for trekking and kayaking. It is the best place to relax. Be aware that there is no cel connection in the whole area so you really disconnect of everything (I loved it). The house is from 1850 so you should not expect to arrive to a brand new house. Furniture is antique so the house has that smell that reminds me to my grandmother's house but is not bad, is just is not new. This did not bother me or any of my friends. Pictures and description of the rooms is exactly as it is. One of the best things of the house is the kitchen, is fully renovated and is beautiful, so if you like cooking you would love it. I just took one star because my friends loved grilling and the grill was kind of rustic, not the typical grill you would imagine.
Delaware County is dairy farm country with rolling hills and meadows, old barns dotting the landscape and quaint small towns with good antique stores and charming restaurants, hiking trails, horseback riding, swimming in lakes, fishing streams and lakes and reservoirs
