NEW IN 2018: **If you're looking for adjacent cabins we can help accommodate**
Located in Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort, our newly remodeled cabin features over 2,800 square feet of woodland luxury wedged only minutes between the breathtaking trails and waterfalls of Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks.
Accommodating up to 12 people, our building is tucked away on a private cul-de-sac backing to a wildlife preservation. The kitchen is very well-stocked, making at-home meals and gatherings a breeze. Of course, Wi-Fi and over 130 TV channels are included, along with 4 DVD players. If you're looking for extras like upgraded shower heads and water that never runs cold, we hope you'll enjoy discovering all of our other little bells and whistles that we hope make your stay exceptional.
And if having the best is how you're wired, we think you'll approve of our location in the secluded westernmost section of the resort - an idyllic retreat after a long day of hiking. Spend some time relaxing on the deck while taking in the many sights and sounds of nature. It’s the perfect environment to unwind, enjoy, and make lasting memories.
KINDLY NOTE: Waterpark passes are not included with this unit. Day passes may be purchased at the resort. Please confirm with the resort that the waterpark is available during your requested dates. While we welcome families, for adult-only gatherings all guests must be at least 25 years of age (no proms, college parties, etc.).

My husband and I truly love the Starved Rock area. Both of us like running, so there’s nothing like stepping out our door onto some of Illinois’ most coveted trails. We are also avid cyclists and enjoy being only moments away from the I&M trail system, and about 30 minutes from the Hennepin Canal. I also enjoy birding, which keeps me plenty busy given the area’s diverse eco-systems. And can’t forget to mention the local golf is great.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006
Starved Rock is the perfect weekend getaway for us. While the trails allure most of us, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone: horseback riding, canoeing, boating, fishing, star gazing, or just taking time to relax with friends and family. We love the local shopping, so be sure to stop by the quaint little town of Utica which is full of charm. Try a tasting at one of two wine shops and then pick up some gourmet popcorn or cupcakes. Afterwards, don’t forget to stop by Duffy’s for a great burger.
Since we're nature buffs, there was no better location for us than to be tucked in the back of the resort with the wildlife preservation as our backdrop. Lounging on the deck is perfect for relaxing moments. Grab a cup of coffee, close your eyes, and listen to nature’s symphony. There’s nothing like it.
This central Illinois cabin has EVERYTHING a family would want for a home base to spend a few days together. It sleeps 12, is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and stocked better than any VRBO property we have ever rented. The ONLY item we needed to bring was paper plates (besides food)... coffee, sugar, DW detergent, clothes detergent, hand soap, paper towels, TP, lots of linens, a wide variety of kitchen utensils were all supplied. There is a "flip the switch" gas fireplace that keeps the main room very cozy and a large table perfect for card games (we played lots of poker and had a family Euchre tournament). The cabin is located directly across from Starved Rock State Park, with fabulous hiking and canyons to explore. We spent part of one day kayaking on the Fox River, a fast flowing river (no rapids, but easy paddling) that is lined with beautiful sandstone cliffs, had a 5 Star dinner at Uptown Grill in LaSalle, and spent a friendly afternoon at the bar in Duffy's Tavern (Utica...it is a museum!). Finally, the hostess, Sue, could not have been more accommodating - she even mailed us two pairs of shoes we left behind!
Your cabin is the greatest. Love the new hardwood flooring and everything about your cabin. It is well stocked and very clean and comfortable. Our family Christmas was a huge success and they are already talking about next years get-together and hopefully in your cabin. Only disappointment is how expense it is to use the water park since we were not staying at the resort itself. I believe Grand Bear Resort is hurting itself by charging such fees. I realize you have no control on this but I would think it would make more sense to charge less and get more people using their facilities. Loved your cabin and our stay was great. Thanks so much for your hospitality.
Beautiful! Spacious and close to Starved Rock State Park
The cabin is very spacious! Also very nice and neat. Plenty of room for everyone. The jacuzzi tubs are nice after hiking all day at the state park. The water park is also very nice and entertaining to all ages. We would definately visit again if we get that way.
The cabin was clean, nicely decorated, all essentials provided. Worked out extremely well as a gathering place for my family that traveled for my daughter's wedding. Very relaxing.
Great place!!!!
Sue and her starved rock cabin are just the best. Throughout the entire process she couldn't have been more helpful and understanding and accommodating! On top of that the cabin was immaculate and just what you need. I will definitely be staying here again.
