Located in Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort, our newly remodeled cabin features over 2,800 square feet of woodland luxury wedged only minutes between the breathtaking trails and waterfalls of Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks.
Accommodating up to 12 people, our building is tucked away on a private cul-de-sac backing to a wildlife preservation. The kitchen is very well-stocked, making at-home meals and gatherings a breeze. Of course, Wi-Fi and over 130 TV channels are included, along with 4 DVD players. If you're looking for extras like upgraded shower heads and water that never runs cold, we hope you'll enjoy discovering all of our other little bells and whistles that we hope make your stay exceptional.
And if having the best is how you're wired, we think you'll approve of our location in the secluded westernmost section of the resort - an idyllic retreat after a long day of hiking. Spend some time relaxing on the deck while taking in the many sights and sounds of nature. It’s the perfect environment to unwind, enjoy, and make lasting memories.
KINDLY NOTE: Waterpark passes are not included with this unit. Day passes may be purchased at the resort. Please confirm with the resort that the waterpark is available during your requested dates. While we welcome families, for adult-only gatherings all guests must be at least 25 years of age (no proms, college parties, etc.).

My husband and I truly love the Starved Rock area. Both of us like running, so there’s nothing like stepping out our door onto some of Illinois’ most coveted trails. We are also avid cyclists and enjoy being only moments away from the I&M trail system, and about 30 minutes from the Hennepin Canal. I also enjoy birding, which keeps me plenty busy given the area’s diverse eco-systems. And can’t forget to mention the local golf is great.

Starved Rock is the perfect weekend getaway for us. While the trails allure most of us, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone: horseback riding, canoeing, boating, fishing, star gazing, or just taking time to relax with friends and family. We love the local shopping, so be sure to stop by the quaint little town of Utica which is full of charm. Try a tasting at one of two wine shops and then pick up some gourmet popcorn or cupcakes. Afterwards, don’t forget to stop by Duffy’s for a great burger.
Since we're nature buffs, there was no better location for us than to be tucked in the back of the resort with the wildlife preservation as our backdrop. Lounging on the deck is perfect for relaxing moments. Grab a cup of coffee, close your eyes, and listen to nature’s symphony. There’s nothing like it.
Our group of nine people stayed at Sue's cabin in the Grizzly Jack's resort area when visiting for a long weekend. We had a great time. The cabin is very spacious and the pull-out sofas (although there are also 7 beds), four bathrooms, and laundry facilities came in handy. Having all of the towels we needed and toiletries provided was also appreciated. The place was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals for the entire group. Having dishwasher and laundry detergent provided was very convenient. Very good WiFi too.
We were not there for the water park but we did take advantage of the proximity to Starved Rock. The closest hiking trails are directly across the street from the resort and the main entrance to the park is less than half a mile away from the resort.
Sue is a great host. Booking couldn't have been any easier and she quickly answered every question I had. My security deposit was submitted for return before I even got home. I will definitely look into staying at Sue's property the next time I have a group that wants to visit Starved Rock!
We spent 5 nights at this home and what a wonderful place to stay! The home was very clean and comfortable. The location is very convenient and close to many parks and hiking trails. The cabin is at the very end of the road and this ended up being wonderful because it was much quieter than the area closer to the road (especially over the weekend). Parking did become an issue over the weekend as the other cabins were full and we ended up being parked in but everyone was nice and happy to move vehicles so we could get out. Starved Rock State Park was by far our favorite place to go. It was just gorgeous and we are talking about another trip in the spring when the water is running faster.
This was our first leg of our 11 day road trip and what a way to begin. The cabin is very beautiful and spacious and became the focal point of our time in the Starved Rock area. We went hiking through the park, boating on the Illinois River, horseback riding and discovering all the little gems each of the small towns in the area had to offer. Then we knew we would always have a clean, comfortable place to return to each day. The kitchen was well equipped which allowed us to cook many meals there. Sue is a gracious host who never minded me calling with questions I had. It was a great experience.
The twelve of us had such a great few days staying at your cabin. Our age range was from 4 years old up to 68. Each and everyone has a special memory from the beautiful setting to the wonderful ice cold air conditioning. We will be visiting frequently since we found this gem at the end of the road. Cudos to owner Sue for making our journey so memorable.
We spent two nights at this property and found it to be a wonderful place for large parties to relax for a weekend. The kitchen is well stocked with supplies, there are ample beds, and the location is in walking distance of the state park. In particular the property manager was very responsive to our requests.
This was a last minute reservation because of an uncontrollable situation at our regular place. The owner was very very accomodating and the place was perfect. We were scrapbooking all weekend and there was plenty of room. The sleeping accomodations were excellent. I would definately go here again.
